Half of this press run was accounted for subscribers, the other half was distributed free of charge. The magazine was distributed in accordance with an addressees' list. It was sent to libraries, academic institutions, newspaper editors, political parties, universities, colleges and schools, as well as to individual politicians, scholars, journalists, parliamentarians in most parts of Western Europe, America and Asia. Specifics of cooperation between power and business in the Western world in the process of global social changes determining of domination of neoliberal doctrine are analyzed. It is examined the mechanisms of partnership between state and private sector for achievement of public goods. The challenges for democracy as a result of approaching power resource and potency of corporation are underlined. ; Анализируется специфика взаимодействия власти и бизнеса в странах Запада в условиях глобальних социальных изменений, которые обусловлены господством неолиберальной доктрины. Рассматриваются механизмы сотрудничества государства и частого сектора ради достижения общего блага. Modern linguists do extensive research on the functioning of religious vocabulary during the Soviet period, but the material of Western Ukrainian newspaper speech of this time has not yet been the object of linguistic study. It determines the relevance of this study. Its purose is to reveal the specifics of the preservation and development of the semantics of religious lexemes in the media of nationalists in Western Ukraine during World War II against the background of their lost-of-meaning in the Soviet newspapers of that time. As a result of the analysis of the printed Western Ukrainian mass media of 1939–1945 (Ostanni visti, Volia Pokuttia, Vilne Slovo, Holos Pidkarpattia, Ukrainski visti, Rohatyтske slovo, Samostiina Ukraina, Stanislavske slovo, Chervonyi prapor), the author concludes, that the publications of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists consistently propagated sacred vocabulary in the articles, even on non-religious subjects (often to reproduce the elation and triumph of what was being said). Textual syntagmatics of biblical-phraseological level unfolded both in familiar biblical situations (often through the introduction of colloquial elements in publicist speech, such as exclamatory units with religious components), and metaphors which retained the sacral dimension of the original semantics. A specific feature of the functioning of the religious lexicon in this newspaper material was the departure of religious lexemes beyond the traditional usage in the process of shaping ironic-satirical periphrastic units with their participation (червоний / большевицький / інтернаціональний рай ‒ the red/ Bolshevik/international paradise; червоне царство сатани ‒ the red kingdom of Satan; Сталінове "царство" / царство темряви, гніту і голоду ‒ the Stalin "kingdom" / the kingdom of darkness, oppression and hunger). The editorial policy of Krasnoye Znamya, the Soviet-era press organ, was aimed at avoiding religious themes, apparently without any political-ideological guidelines for this in the years 1939-1945. Only in the spring issue of 1945, this newspaper published a totally biased and lengthy article "With a cross or with a knife?" by V. Rossovych (Iaroslav Halan), targeting the Vatican, the Greek Catholic Church and Andrei Sheptytskyi. Sensitive metaphors and metonymies, epithets and hyperboles, phraseology and neologisms, which included religious vocabulary (релігійний лубок ‒ religious bast, боги свастики і тризуба ‒ gods of swastika and trident, ультракатолицька шляхта ‒ ultra-Catholic szlachta, etc.), the extraction of words reserved for the religious sphere with the "weathering" of their semantics (вірник ‒ believer → neologism довірник), biblical allusions, religious words in inverted commas as markers of irony were deployed to fulfill an order of defamation of Andrei Sheptytskyi and Catholicism altogether. ; У статті з'ясовано специфіку функціонування релігійної лексики у ЗМІ українських націоналістів у період Другої світової війни на тлі її вихолощення в тогочасних радянських газетах. Автор дійшов висновку, що специфічною ознакою виходу релігійної лексики за межі традиційного у ЗМІ ОУН було формування з її участю іронійно-сатиричних перифразних одиниць, спрямованих проти сталінської політики. Друкований орган радянської влади відверто уникав релігійних тем, і лише 1945 року вийшла розлога замовна стаття «З хрестом чи з ножем?» В. Росовича (Я. Галана), у якій автор активно послуговувався біблійними алюзіями, дошкульними художніми засобами, фразеологізмами тощо із зарезервованими для релігійної сфери лексемами. Соціальне замовлення «словесного огиджування» образу А. Шептицького та всієї Української греко-католицької церкви працювало на «вивітрення» релігійної семантики.

The article covers the peculiarities of the state policy of the Soviet government in the western regions of the USSR during the initial period of the war. The activities of the administrative-command system, in particular, ignoring the interests of national, economic and cultural development of peoples, the unlimited centralization of power, unification of all aspects of public life, which were realized through means of terror and violence, are considered. It was shown that during the initial period of the Second World War, the Stalinist regime made significant efforts to discriminate and conduct mass repressions against the ethnic communities. The official explanation of the application to individual peoples of mass deportations was the "anti-Soviet activity" and retaliation for a possible "betrayal." Repressions and deportations as separate components of the national politics and interethnic relations relate primarily to the Poles of the borderline - the "sedentary", as well as Ukrainians – members of the families of "counter-revolutionary and nationalist element" from the territory of Western Ukraine and Western Belarus. The clear structure of the management and execution of crimes by a system of state authorities and directly by the NKVD of the USSR is revealed. The echelons of the repressed and deported ones were sent to the camps and special settlements under inhumane conditions, without any household items or means of living. Without any investigation, over 1173 thousand Ukrainians, Poles and other ethnic groups were punished and deported, 35 % of which were children under the age of 14. More than 34 thousand representatives of the intelligentsia, members of the nationalist underground, and clerics who were detained in the prisons of the region were destroyed. The same happened to many Polish prisoners of war, political, religious and cultural figures. The Soviet authorities, by deportating the people, violated the constitutional rights of peoples, the fundamental right of ethnic communities to create a state and continue the national-cultural development, deformed their national and political consciousness, and the deportees' long stay in a foreign ethnic, civilized and confessional environment had a negative impact on their lifestyle, daily routine, educational and cultural level, led to the loss of their native language and caused the disappearance of certain ethnic groups. The massive repressions and violent resettlement of peoples during the war period caused the prolonged bloody interethnic conflicts on the post-Soviet territory. ; У статті висвітлюються характерні для початкового періоду війни особливості державної політики радянського керівництва у західних регіонах СРСР. Розглядається діяльність адміністративно-командної системи, зокрема, ігнорування інтересів національного, економічного і культурного розвитку народів, необмеженість централізації влади, уніфікація всіх сторін суспільного життя, що реалізовувалась засобами терору і насильства. Розглядаються репресії і депортації, як окремі складові національної політики і міжнаціональних відносин, що стосувалися в першу чергу поляків прикордонної смуги – "осадників", а також українців – членів сімей "контрреволюційного і націоналістичного елементу".

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, and with it the collapse of the isolation policy, the countries that were part of it, including Ukraine, automatically became players, or rather "victims" of the open market. Ukraine's industry, which was second in terms of capacity in the USSR, was not competitive and backward compared to countries that developed on a "western type" model: open markets, free competition, the movement of world capital without borders, the introduction of advanced technologies and innovations. Another blow was the deep cooperation of industry with the industry of other union republics, which did not allow to get a closed cycle in production with of high added value, and the former allies in the new conditions of market relations became rivals. This led to a serious recession in the economy and the search for a model of existence that would allow it to evolve. At the same time, Ukraine has access to the technology market, education, new ways and methods, both in business and in the public sphere. Gradually began to reorient the world market and implement international standards, which made it possible to reduce the dependence on the old (traditional) markets, especially Russia after the war began in 2014. Ukraine has adopted and ratified the system of international law, which is one of the tools of world globalization processes. The more Ukraine became closer to the western countries, the greater appeared the tension in relations with Russia, which does not perceive the "Western model" of development and wants to expand its political, economic, military, territorial potential at the expense of post-Soviet countries and become a full-fledged global player in the world, and Ukraine is one of the key countries that will help achieve the goal. Globalization processes have both a threat and opportunities for countries that are in the zone of globalization influence. The article analyzes the peculiarities of changing socio-economic leadership at the end of the nineteenth century. It is shown that Britain`s lag behind its rivals in foreign markets is associated withthe transition to an extensive algorithm for the existence of the largest empire in the world, the homeland of the industrial revolution, its reorientation to financially usurious mechanisms forobtaining super-profits, an indicator of the beginning of the stadial-civilizational decline of the classical bourgeois formation. It is shown that Germany, which in our time continues to be consideredthe main culprit for World War I, during this period, receives competitive advantages, first of all, by forcing an innovative component of its development, due to the election of a fundamentally different,relative to the Anglo-Saxon, model of the postсapitalist type of social order. It is important that on the basis of similar principles of the new social system in the twentieth century, a number of developedcountries of the East and West have made an economic miracle. It has been proved that the sources of antagonism between the most powerful geopolitical players that led to the Great War are due not so much to the so-called colonial redistribution of the world, but to the collision of two incompatible strategies for the further existence of mankind. Moreover, the doom of the Russian Empire for such an approach was related precisely to the fact that once again lost the historical chance of its own modernization, it was in the world military conflict that was inevitable, because of the domination in the state of a compradoriously oriented "lazy class" (T .Veblen), elected the status of a satellite of the United Kingdom and France, which at that time was the main outpost of the rotting monopoly financial and invading imperialism of a qualitatively new global type, which eventually became the main cause of both worlds wars, and then the cold and present "hybrid" wars (the current Putin regime is derived from the modern global "postmodern system" of postmodern neocolonialism). The hypothesis that the cause of the First and Second World Wars was the only aggressive nationalism is refuted, which in fact, in the form of Nazism became a non-constructive reaction to the globally-permissive parasitism that caused the First World War and the "communist experiment", generated by the civil war caused by the catastrophe of the unprecedented in terms of the scale of the war of 1914-1918. ; У статті проаналізовано особливості зміни соціально-економічного лідерства наприкінці ХІХ століття. Показано, що відставання Великої Британії від своїх конкурентів на зовнішніхринках пов'язано з переходом на екстенсивний алгоритм існування найбільшої імперії світу, яка стала батьківщиною промислового перевороту, її переорієнтацією на фінансово-лихварськімеханізми отримання надприбутків, що є показником початку стадіально-цивілізаційного занепаду класичної буржуазної формації. Показано, що Німеччина, яку і в наш час багатоісториків продовжують вважати головним винуватцем Першої світової війни, в цей період отримує конкурентні переваги насамперед за рахунок форсування інноваційної складової свогорозвитку, обумовленого обранням принципово іншої, відносно англо-саксонскої, моделі суспільного ладу посткапіталістичного типу. Важливо, що саме на основі подібних засад новогосуспільного ладу вже у ХХ столітті низка розвинених країн Сходу і Заходу здійснили економічне диво.Доведено, що витоки антагонізму між найпотужнішими геополітичними гравцями, який призвів до Великої війни, обумовлені не стільки так званим колоніальним переділом світу, скількизіткненням двох несумісних стратегій подальшого існування людства. Причому, приреченість Російської імперії за такого підходу, була пов'язана саме з тим, що черговий раз втратившиісторичний шанс власної модернізації, вона у світовому воєнному конфлікті, який був неминучим, через панування в державі компрадорські орієнтованого «класу, що байдикує» (Т. Веблен),обрала статус сателіта Великої Британії та Франції, які на той час були основним форпостом саме загниваючого монопольно-фінансового та загарбницького імперіалізму якісно нового глобального типу, що, врешті-решт, став головною причиною обох світових, а потім Холодної та нинішньої «гібридної», війн (нинішній путінський режим є похідним від сучасної глобальної«світосистеми» вже постмодерного неоколоніалізму). Також спростовано гіпотезу, що причиною Першої та Другої світових воєн був виключно агресивний націоналізм, який насправді у формі нацизму став лише неконструктивною реакцією на глобально-лихварський паразитизм, що спричинив Першу світову війну та «комуністичний експеримент», породжений громадянською війною, обумовленою катастрофою ще небаченої за масштабами воєнної бійні 1914-1918 років.

The activity of Canadian Prime Minister John Diefenbaker to protect the Ukrainians' national rights in Soviet Union is analyzed. It was the time of the Cold War, when the great divide between the Soviet Union and the Canada contained a many points. In particular, as Prime Minister, he called Soviet Government to protect human rights, stop arrest of dissidents, and to allow free elections. The violation of constitutional rights guaranteed in the Ukrainian SSR, prosecution of dissidents, the implementation of people's right to self-determination, the openings of the Canadian Consulate in Kyiv were main issues that Canadian politician raised in public discourse in Canada.Diefenbaker was certainly more outspoken than his predecessors and used anti-communist rhetoric. He enjoyed speaking to audiences of Canadian Ukrainians, always stressing his sympathy with their aims. Diefenbaker named Canada's first Ukrainian-Canadian Cabinet Minister Politician (Michael Starr) and appointed the second senator of Ukrainian descent (Ivan Hnatyshyn). He often quoted passages from the poems Taras Shevchenko, interested in Ukrainian history, and believed in the establishment of Ukrainian nationhood.Separately traced J. The most famous speech made by John Diefenbaker on the problem of relations with the Soviet Union was his call in the United Nations for the Russians to explain why they continue to maintain several millions of Eastern Europeans in a state of colonial servitude to the Russian imperial system. Diefenbaker's speech on September 26, 1960 was a direct challenge to the Soviet leader Mykyta Khrushchev, who was personally leading the Soviet delegation to the Assembly of the United Nations. The speech had world reaction and was a sensation among the most delegations. Its impact was immediate upon Canadians of Eastern European descent whose homelands are within the communist totalitarian system. Diefenbaker's rhetoric caught the public mood among Canadian Ukrainians. It was a challenge voiced by a new hero, in the eyes of those people who came from the forgotten nations in Eastern Europe. Instead, the Soviet press attacked Diefenbaker's statements as "slanderous".After retiring from the post of Prime Minister, Diefenbaker led the International Committee for Human Rights. He was meeting with the world's politicians and raised the issue with respect to violations of constitutional rights of Ukrainians within Soviet Union. As leader of the conservative opposition in parliament, he repeatedly raised the issue of opening the Consulate of Canada in Kyiv. In 1969 he visited the capital of the Ukrainian SSR and in conversation with it officials sought the opening of the Consulate of Canada in the Ukrainian capital. Diefenbaker was one of the few world leaders who tried to implement the Ukrainian issue to the world agenda and stressed that "the West must speak out". Prime Minister of Canada was the most prominent spokesman the concept of the colonial status of the Ukrainian SSR among Western politicians. The article reveals the contradictory tendencies of ethnopolitical life in Ukraine at the beginning of the XXIst century, the destabilizing infl uence of the Russian Federation on the south-eastern regions in order to slow down the European vector of the country's movement. The features of interethnic relations in the Western regions of Ukraine, external and internal factors of the manifestations of separatism and the spread of ideas for the autonomy of areas of compact residence of national minorities are singled out. The author traces the causal relationships in the ethno-political sphere in the time-past-modern measurement. It was determined that ethnopolitical relations in Ukraine in the early 2000's were characterized by the absence of a state conception of ethnic policy. This opened up foreign policy paths to infl uence the national minorities of the border regions by neighboring states, stimulated the appearance of a number of destructive political organizations that spread the ideas of separatism in the south-eastern regions of Ukraine, in the Crimean peninsula and Transcarpathia. Under the infl uence of Russian propaganda, the local population of the South-East, the Crimea, was an easy prey to ideologues of the «Russian world», who declared Ukraine as «an unnatural state education» doomed to a quick death.

It is established that Western European civilization is represented in the form of the politics-economic entity – European Union, using the weak economy of others, most often of Eastern European countries tries to solve its own problems related to the satisfaction of needs and benefits of its citizens. In this regard, Western European civilization became universal, it transformed and conquered all modern world. It is found out that Ukrainian society is on the clash between civilizations and today it performs the role of so called buffer zone. The limitropheness of the Ukrainian society is proved, which, as in the times of National liberation war of 1648-1654 and the National-democratic revolution of 1917-1920, and now has an impact on the mentality of the Ukrainian society, its definiteness in the further development. It is grounded that without a strong economy of our state and without implementing the values of Western European civilization, the Ukrainian society will not be considered by the countries of the Old Europe as equal. In this regard, at this stage the attention is focused on the neutral status of our state with the further joining Western European civilization as an equal partner, not a vassal. ; Проаналізовано особливості цивілізаційного розвитку. The article outlines the existence of the main components of the polynational musical culture in the WUPR. Its feature is instrumental and vocal folklore of Ukrainians, Poles, Jews, Germans, Hungarians, Romans, and other ethnic groups, and also peculiarities of music of ethnographic regions (Boikivshchyna, Bukovyna, Hutsulshchyna, Zakarpattia, Lemkivshchyna, Opillia, Pokuttia). Musical art successfully performed its social and cultural functions in the life of civilians and military, social strata, believers of different denominations. It helped to live and fight, to educate and mobilize, to create stronger ukrainian society spirit and popularize ukrainian nation in the world, to heal. The legislative actions of the newly created state in the field of culture, particularly of art, attested to its significance. The article specifies isolated facts from biographies of musical artists, authorship of some of their works. The purpose of our work is to systematize sources of information about the various national music of the WUPR. The urgency of this is enhanced by the fact that for a long time, due to the Communist taboos, such notes were unknown to the public. The article helps to highlight the manifestations of the components of musical culture, the development of its separate genres. The feature of WUPR music was the instrumental and vocal folklore of the ethnographic regions (Boikivshchyna, Bukovyna, Hutsulshchyna, Zakarpattia, Lemkivshchyna, Nadsiannia, Opillia, Pokuttia), as well as the music-making of different ethnic groups (Poles, Jews, Germans, Romans, Hungarians, etc.), which were predominantly part of the urban population. The peculiarities of music were also influenced by the place of residence of the people, most of which lived in villages and were engaged in agriculture. The complicated living conditions caused by the First World War, and later by Ukrainian-Polish armed struggle, devastation, hunger, diseases, outbreaks of epidemics, have not suppressed music-making completely. Church music retained its prevalence (liturgical singing, bell-ringing, organ playing). The proclamation of the Ukrainian state on the territory of Eastern Galicia caused a general elevation of Ukrainians prompting the surge of their public music-making. Among the genres of music, the most popular and common one was a song. Military music was developing further, including brass bands; singing of sacred works, in particular those that were performed at the funeral of slaughtered soldiers or those who died from the wounds. Musical and theatrical life awakened. Music-making was an urgent need to compensate for the living difficulties of all the ethnic groups at that time. At the beginning and end of the WUPR's existence, such a style trend as the Galician musical Biedermeier manifested in a peculiar way. The significance of music is reinforced by the persecution of its leaders, in particular Ukrainian priests, by Polish interventionists. Numerous newspapers contributed to the development of musical criticism. The results of our scientific research are useful for better understanding of the functions of music in different situations of the Galicians' life, its essential role in satisfying certain spiritual needs. songs of the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen gained popularity; new vocal productions appeared.
