The article attempts to identify & assess both the types of differentiation in patterns of church-state relationships across European space & the trends of change which have occurred across time. The central hypothesis to be tested is the claim advanced by some authors that contemporary trends can, when taken together, be seen to prefigure the emergence, in spite of differences, of a distinctive European common model -- one which is furthermore as different from that associated with the USA in the far West as it is from that of China in the far East. By contrast with those counterposed "Others" the emergent European model might, it is argued, be seen as an object of hope for the overcoming within Europe of the many tensions which have surfaced in connection with the recent steep resurgence of the religious factor in politics across the world. This paper analyzes the evolution of the environmental policy of Brazil since the 1970s until the present days, giving data and explaining the goals of the country in this matter. As the largest holder of the biological riches of the world, with much of the Amazon, asserting itself as one of the most promising agricultural powers, with a strong economy and steady growth, Brazil has since 1990 pursued a fierce and ambitious environmental policy, being the emerging economy that has been most concerned about the issue. Nihilism is one of the main themes of the later writings of Nietzsche. The philosopher saw symptoms of a nihilistic view of the world in culture, politics, art, religion and morality of the nineteenth century. Nietzsche uses two "methods" of interpretation of this phenomenon, the genealogy and physiology. Our text is intended to be an introduction to the issue, indicating how Nietzsche draws a genealogical interpretation and physiological interpretation of nihilism.

Th e book shows how the apparent triumph of communication in the modern societies has become a factor for its own weakness. While the functional dimension of communication has quickly fl ourished in the last 50 years, its normative dimension, responsible for the social bounds and the creation of a common project for the democratic societies, has been kept atrophied. To equilibrate both dimensions, avoiding that incommunication leads to the breakdown of democracy, we need to turn our attention to the receptor of communication, emphasizing respect and cohabitation among the cultures of our globalized world.
; The starting point is the idea that the world media produces a new mediated visibility, making visible the actions and events ever more difficult to control. It is an explicit strategy of those who know well be mediated visibility can be a weapon in fighting the daily struggles. This essay briefly outline my thinking the new visibility and its implications. Begin by placing the issue of visibility in the context of a social theory of the media, since - as I will try show - the emergence of a new visibility is defined nitivamente related to new ways of acting and interacting with the media brought.
The article that is presented has as its main object to be a crossing between the notions of common good and individual good. Thus, it was intended to develop the explanation of the historical-philosophical path, from where the passage and interposition between the ethical conceptions of common and individual goods took place; with regard, likewise, to the passage between Greek antiquity and Hellenic world. Therefore, the present writing will deal with the presentation of a general panorama of theoretical transposition and political conception, when in the emergence of the design architected by certain philosophers who prove to be fundamental to the ancient and Hellenic political question. Namely: Plato, Aristotle, Epicurus, Zeno of Citium and Pyrrhus. Founding thinkers of the understanding of what politics is, in a timeless way; for this reason, they themselves are the arche and starting point of any investigation of what is determined as a human ethos, inserted in this nascent and current perspective that we call the search for an ego-good.
The first globalization, with the enhancement of relations among various regions in the second half of the 19th century, provoked an interesting debate on the nature & ends of the national state in several countries, including Portugal. The Portuguese debate first took place in the 1850's, when world trade started growing & free trade became popular, & later in the 1880's when protectionism returned. The critique of the democratic left, namely the one articulated by Oliveira Martins, illuminates what really was at stake in the reactions to the first globalization. References. This article discusses how Brazilian AIDS activism has emerged and been reconfigured over the last 25 years. I analyze how societal forms were created and particular problems emerged in a specific context affected by the AIDS epidemic. Based on ethnographic research in concrete contexts in Brazil, I follow the ways by which people have united around various ideas and practices related to life, health and illness, morality and politics. People affected by the epidemic were engaged in sociality, identity formation and the definition of a wide range of health, political and judicial demands, which take a particular biosocial activism as their main form of collective mobilization. My main aim is to reflect, therefore, on the formation of particular biosocial worlds, socialities, collectivities and identities related to specific modes of subjectification surrounding life and death, biomedicine and biotechnologies, politics and citizenship.
