The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the new EU legal framework for the processing of personal data. The use of any information related to an identified or identifiable person by a software will imply the compliance with this European legislation. The objective of this chapter is to focus on the processing of a specific category of personal data: sensitive data (mainly face recognition and voice recognition) to verify the user's identity. Indeed, the GDPR reinforces requirements for security measures to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of these personal data. We analyze three privacy aspects: the possibility to obtain a valid consent from the user, how to ensure the transparency principle and the implication of openness and the framework to implement in order to use the feedback given by the system to the user. From an ethical point of view, the request for consent is legitimized by the existence of a real assessment alternative left to the student. Then the different components of the right to transparency are illustrated by examples from the field. Finally, the question of feedback is expressed in the form of a dilemma highlighting the possible risks of poorly justified decisions due to the way feedback is exposed.

This thesis work takes part in the connected objects theme, also known as the Internet of Things (IoT). It emerges from the Internet democratization since the early 2000's and the shift to highly mobile devices, made possible by the miniaturization of embedded systems. In this context, the energy efficiency is mandatory since today's projections are around tens of billions of connected devices in 2020. However for ease of deployment and usage, a large part of the data transfers in these networks is wireless, which implementation represents a significant part of the power consumption. Indeed, the energy efficiency question is addressed in general as a fine tuning of hardware architectures, which is often associated with a favorable technology evolution. Nevertheless, this design paradigm quickly reached its limits since it necessary implies a highly constrained sizing to be compatible with the worst operating conditions, even if they are not effective most of the time. It's typically the case with wireless communications since the radio channel is a medium characterized by a strong variability due to propagations effects and interferences. Thus, our study focused on the design of a communication chain whose link budget can be dynamically tuned depending on the actual signal attenuation, in order to reduce the system power consumption. The thesis has contributed to the design of a self-adaptive receiver dedicated to IEEE 802.15.4 standard, by proposing both a reconfigurable digital baseband architecture and an automatic control method of the operating mode. More precisely, the work relied on two approaches, the compressive sampling and the partial sampling, to reduce the data's size to process, decreasing the internal activity of arithmetics operators. In return, the demodulation processing needs a higher SNR, degrading in the same time the receiver sensitivity and thus the link budget. Dans les savanes d'Afrique centrale, la culture cotonnière, stratégiquement importante dans les économies nationales et les revenus des producteurs, et inséparable des actions Etatiques à travers les Sociétés cotonnières, est en crise. Cette communication porte sur l'évolution des politiques cotonnières, les stratégies adaptives et l'accompagnement des agriculteurs à cette crise à partir d'études sur les exploitations agricoles et les stratégies des producteurs, et d'activités d'appui-conseil réalisées en zone cotonnière au Cameroun, au Tchad et en Centrafrique entre 2000 et 2007 dans le cadre du PRASAC. Cette crise est due aux dysfonctionnements du système en place et à la baisse des prix du coton qui ont amené des déficits financiers importants conduisant à un processus de restructuration des filières en cours visant le désengagement de l'Etat et la promotion des organismes professionnels. Dans ce contexte, les superficies en coton diminuent globalement et les agriculteurs développent des stratégies de recomposition de leurs activités, allant de l'augmentation à l'abandon de la culture du coton dans l'assolement. Ces stratégies défensives ont un coût social que les agriculteurs cherchent à minimiser en développant des stratégies offensives basées sur une solidarité de groupe, mais leur marge de manoeuvre est limitée. Le devenir de leurs exploitations dépend de leur degré de dépendance du coton et de leurs capacités à diversifier leurs activités. Dans cette période d'incertitude, les changements dans les exploitations doivent être accompagnés et un appui doit être apporté aux organisations paysannes.

Thanks to the circuit physical model that has been developed, the power consumption for a packet demodulation is estimated to 278 uW when the baseband is fully activated. It can however be gradually decreased down to 119 uW, corresponding to a sensitivity reduction of 10 dB. Thus, the proposed digital baseband and its control loop save 30 % of energy in average in a typical use case. ; Ces travaux de thèse s'inscrivent dans la thématique des objets connectés, désormais connue sous le nom de Internet of Things (IoT). Elle trouve son origine dans la démocratisation d'Internet depuis le début des années 2000 et la migration vers des appareils hautement mobiles, rendue possible grâce à la miniaturisation des systèmes embarqués. Dans ce contexte, l'efficacité énergétique est primordiale puisque les projections actuelles parlent de dizaines de milliards de composants connectés à l'horizon 2020. Or pour une question de facilité de déploiement et d'usage, une grande partie des échanges de données dans ces réseaux s'effectue via une liaison sans-fil dont l'implémentation représente une part importante de la consommation. Effectivement, la question de l'efficacité énergétique est en général considérée comme un problème de perfectionnement des architectures matérielles, souvent associé à une évolution favorable de la technologie. Toutefois, ce paradigme atteint rapidement ses limites puisqu'il implique nécessairement un dimensionnement fortement contraint pour être compatible avec les pires conditions d'utilisation, même si elles ne sont pas effectives la plupart du temps. C'est typiquement le cas avec les communications sans-fil puisque le canal radio est un milieu caractérisé par une forte variabilité en raison des phénomènes de propagation et de la présence d'interférences. Notre étude a donc porté sur la conception d'une chaîne de transmission dont le budget de liaison peut être dynamiquement modifié en fonction de l'atténuation réelle du signal, afin de réduire la consommation du système. La thèse a notamment contribué à la mise au point d'un récepteur auto-adaptatif spécifique à la norme IEEE 802.15.4, en proposant à la fois une architecture de modem numérique reconfigurable et à la fois une méthode de contrôle automatique du point de fonctionnement. Plus précisément, le travail s'est appuyé sur deux approches, l'échantillonnage compressif et l'échantillonnage partiel, pour réduire la taille des données à traiter, diminuant ainsi l'activité interne des opérateurs arithmétiques. En contrepartie, le processus de démodulation nécessite un SNR supérieur, dégradant la sensibilité du récepteur et donc le budget de liaison. Cette solution, portée sur une technologie STMicroelectronics CMOS 65 nm LP, offre une faible empreinte matérielle vis-à-vis d'une architecture classique avec seulement 23,4 kcellules. Grâce au modèle physique du circuit qui a été développé, la consommation pour la démodulation d'un paquet est estimée à 278 uW lorsque le modem est intégralement utilisé. Elle peut toutefois être abaissée progressivement jusqu'à 119 uW, correspondant à une baisse de la sensibilité de 10 dB. Ainsi, le modem implémenté et sa boucle de contrôle permettent d'économiser en moyenne 30 % d'énergie dans un cas d'utilisation typique.

Résumé Le bassin du Nil peut être considéré comme un point névralgique de la sécurité climatique, car cette région sera sévèrement touchée par le changement du climat. La hausse des températures et l'évolution des formes de précipitation exacerbent déjà les problèmes existants de désertification, de manque d'eau, et de production alimentaire, constituant ainsi un défi pour la stabilité de toute la région. L'une des questions les plus importantes pour la stabilité sociétale est l'allocation des ressources d'eau entre les pays riverains. Dans le passé, l'Égypte avait posé son hégémonie sur l'eau, contrôlant une majorité des ressources de la région. Ce statut a été récemment remis en cause par les développements et les alliances des pays en amont, faisant croître la tension entre l'Égypte et certains de ses voisins. Des variations défavorables dans les modèles de précipitation pourraient augmenter la pression sur les pays en aval, les poussant à adopter des stratégies fondées sur la menace plutôt que sur la coopération.

Navigation by satellite systems are known to be susceptible to jamming threats. This thesis explores adaptive array techniques as a solution to the military signals (GPS & Galileo) vulnerability to broadband powerful jammers. The array and the receiver are positioned in a cascade structure. The goal is to make the array autonomous and fully compatible with a classical receiver, which rapidly led us to focus on MISO systems. Several algorithms have been evaluated and compared over various array geometries. We pointed out that the mean array output SINR is not an appropriate criterion to characterize the receiver performances in the particular case of radionavigation systems. Thus, we define a new criterion based on the final user positioning accuracy. We subsequently demonstrated that using prior knowledge of the useful DOA does not necessarily help with improving this criterion with MISO systems. The array response stability was also studied, leading us to finally focus on blind linearly constrained power minimization techniques. Then we described the main RF technological defects (due to manufacture dispersions in sensors and analogical filters and due to mutual coupling). Their effect on space-only array performances was evaluated. Physically, and similarly to the wideband effect, these defects result in an increased number of degrees of freedom of the array required to mitigate a single powerful jammer. Space Time array (STAP) is a possible solution to cope with the increase in the interference subspace rank because it makes it possible to increase the number of degrees of freedom available without increasing the physical size of the array. In such a case, the frequency component of the STAP filter is likely to degrade the performances of a classical GNSS receiver's correlator. Hence, we defined a new performance criterion, suitable for GNSS signals after STAP prefiltering. In order to answer the multi-objective and multi-mode adaptive traffic control problem, we propose three models of mixed integer linear programming, usable with two multi-objective optimization interactive methods, allowing to adapt a "traffic control policy" iteratively to the current traffic situation. The considered criteria, all of them to be minimized, are the total waiting time and the number of stops for private vehicles and a criterion dedicated to public transports allowing to set a target waiting time for every bus. Experiments showed that one of the three models, called hybrid model, distinguishes itself positively from the others. This model was implemented with one of the two interactive methods, allowing to control a traffic simulated over one hour in different scenarios, and was compared to a semi-adaptive traffic control system. ; Afin de répondre à la problématique de la régulation multi-objectif et multi-mode des carrefours à feux, nous proposons trois modèles de programmation linéaire mixte en nombres entiers constituant les moteurs d'un système de régulation pleinement adaptatif, ainsi que deux procédures interactives d'optimisation multi-objectif permettant d'adapter itérativement une "politique de régulation" à la situation de trafic. Cette thèse étudie les techniques d'antennes adaptatives comme une solution au problème du brouillage des signaux militaires (GPS et Galileo) par des interférences de forte puissance et à grande occupation spectrale. L'objectif est de réaliser, à terme, une antenne réseau indépendante du récepteur de radionavigation, ce qui nous a rapidement conduit à privilégier les systèmes MISO. Divers algorithmes de traitement ont été évalués sur plusieurs géométries de réseau. Nous avons mis en évidence que le SINR moyen de sortie du réseau n'est pas représentatif des performances d'un récepteur de radionavigation. Un critère de sélection des méthodes, basé sur la précision finale de localisation, a donc été défini. Nous avons montré que, selon ce critère, la connaissance a priori des DOA ne permet pas forcément de gain de traitement avec un système MISO. La stabilité de la réponse des réseaux a également été étudiée, nous conduisant finalement à restreindre notre étude aux méthodes aveugles de minimisation de puissance sous contrainte linéaire. Nous avons ensuite caractérisé les principaux défauts de la chaîne RF (dus aux dispersions de fabrication des capteurs et des filtres analogiques, et au couplage inter-capteurs) et en avons évalué l'impact sur les performances des filtres spatiaux. Physiquement, comme l'effet large bande, les défauts du réseau se traduisent par une augmentation du nombre de degrés de liberté consommés par un signal de forte puissance. Le traitement Spatio-Temporel (STAP) constitue une solution possible à cette augmentation du rang du sous-espace interférent car il permet d'accroitre le nombre de degrés de liberté disponibles, sans augmenter la taille du réseau. Cependant, la composante fréquentielle du filtrage STAP peut dégrader les performances du corrélateur d'un récepteur GNSS générique. Aussi, avons-nous défini un nouveau critère de performance, adapté au traitement des signaux GNSS. Nous avons ainsi pu écrire le filtre STAP optimal et nous en avons déduit une version simplifiée qui constitue un bon compromis performances - complexité. Globalement, le réseau STAP ne permet pas de gain de traitement sur la puissance utile transmise au récepteur mais il permet de mieux rejeter les signaux interférents de forte puissance en présence de défauts linéaires de chaîne.

5G is envisioned to tackle, in addition to a considerable increase in traffic volume, the task of connecting billions of devices with heterogeneous service requirements. In order to address the challenges of 5G, we advocate a more efficient use of the available information, with more service and user awareness, and an expansion of the RAN intelligence. In particular, we focus on two key enablers of 5G, namely massive MIMO and proactive caching. In the third chapter, we focus on addressing the bottleneck of CSI acquisition in TDD Massive MIMO. In order to do so, we propose novel spatial grouping schemes such that, in each group, maximum coverage of the signal's spatial basis with minimum overlapping between user spatial signatures is achieved. The latter enables to increase connection density while improving spectral efficiency. TDD Massive MIMO is also the focus of the fourth chapter. Therein, based on the different rates of wireless channels aging, CSI estimation periodicity is exploited as an additional DoF. We do so by proposing a dynamic adaptation of the TDD frame based on the heterogeneous channels coherence times. The Massive MIMO BSs are enabled to learn the best uplink training policy for long periods. Since channel changes result primarily from device mobility, location awareness is also included in the learning process. The resulting planning problem was modeled as a two-time scale POMDP and efficient low complexity algorithms were provided to solve it. The fifth chapter focuses on proactive caching. We focus on improving the energy efficiency of cache-enabled networks by exploiting the correlation in traffic patterns in addition to the spatial repartition of requests. We propose a framework that strikes the optimal trade-off between complexity and truthfulness in user behavior modeling through adaptive content popularity-based clustering. It also simplifies the problem of content placement, which results in a rapidly adaptable and energy efficient content allocation framework. ; 5G est prévu pour s'attaquer, en plus d'une augmentation considérable du volume de trafic, la tâche de connecter des milliards d'appareils avec des exigences de service hétérogènes. Afin de relever les défis de la 5G, nous préconisons une utilisation plus efficace des informations disponibles, avec plus de sensibilisation par rapport aux services et aux utilisateurs, et une expansion de l'intelligence du RAN. En particulier, nous nous concentrons sur deux activateurs clés de la 5G, à savoir le MIMO massif et la mise en cache proactive. Dans le troisième chapitre, nous nous concentrons sur la problématique de l'acquisition de CSI dans MIMO massif en TDD. Pour ce faire, nous proposons de nouveaux schémas de regroupement spatial tels que, dans chaque groupe, une couverture maximale de la base spatiale du signal avec un chevauchement minimal entre les signatures spatiales des utilisateurs est obtenue. Ce dernier permet d'augmenter la densité de connexion tout en améliorant l'efficacité spectrale. MIMO massif en TDD est également au centre du quatrième chapitre. Dans ce cas, en se basant sur les différents taux de vieillissement des canaux sans fil, la périodicité d'estimation de CSI est supplémentaire. Nous le faisons en proposant un exploité comme un degré de liberté supplémentaire. Nous le faisons en proposant une adaptation dynamique de la trame TDD en fonction des temps de cohérence des canaux hétérogènes. Les stations de bases MIMO massif sont capables d'apprendre la meilleure politique d'estimation sur le uplink pour de longues périodes. Comme les changements de canaux résultent principalement de la mobilité de l'appareil, la connaissance de l'emplacement est également incluse dans le processus d'apprentissage. Le problème de planification qui en a résulté a été modélisé comme un POMDP à deux échelles temporelles et des algorithmes efficaces à faible complexité ont été fournis pour le résoudre. Le cinquième chapitre met l'accent sur la mise en cache proactive. Nous nous concentrons sur l'amélioration de l'efficacité énergétique des réseaux dotes de mise en cache en exploitant la corrélation dans les modèles de trafic en plus de la répartition spatiale des demandes. Nous proposons un cadre qui établit un compromis optimal entre la complexité et la véracité dans la modélisation du comportement des utilisateurs grâce à la classification adaptative basée sur la popularité du contenu. Il simplifie également le problème du placement de contenu, ce qui se traduit par un cadre d'allocation de contenu rapidement adaptable et économe en énergie.

Adaptive systems can reconfigure themselves according to adaptation policies which are seen as artefacts that describe desirable system behaviours without imposing them. An adaptation policy is conceived as a set of rules that indicate, for a given set of configurations, which reconfiguration operations can be triggered, prioritised with fuzzy values representing their respective utility. The adaptation policy must be faithfully implemented by the system and especially with respect to the rules' priorities.We propose an original approach to validate adaptive component-based systems, based on black box testing, and aiming to ensure the respect of an adaptation policy by the system.To do so, we present our approach which aims at generating large test suites in order to measure the occurrences of reconfigurations and to compare them to their utility values specified in the adaptation rules. First, we present the automated generation of initial states, in order to produce structured configurations from which an adaptive system starts and which aim at provoking significant reconfigurations. Secondly, we present an online test generator based on a system usage model used to stimulate the system and cause reconfigurations. As the system can reconfigure itself dynamically, this online test generator observes the responses and evolution of the system in order to decide on the next appropriate test step to perform.Coverage measures of the adaptation policy and system properties are established to ensure that all relevant system states are covered.Finally, the relative frequencies of reconfigurations are measured to determine whether the adaptation policy is being implemented accurately.The experiments are conducted in the case of a platoon of autonomous vehicles. ; Les systèmes adaptatifs peuvent se reconfigurer en fonction de politiques d'adaptation qui sont vues comme des artefacts qui décrivent les comportements souhaitables du système sans les imposer.
