This conference was organized to facilitate a transatlantic dialogue about viable best practices to meet the special needs and circumstances of unaccompanied/separated migrant children. It was convened by the Institute for the Study of International Migration of Georgetown University, with the support of the German Marshall Fund. The discussion concentrated on 8 general points of inquiry. This report outlines the major points of discussion, areas of consensus, and issues in further need of analysis. Through this Report, the Workshop seeks to encourage further discussion and collaboration in order to develop improved policies and well-defined mechanisms for the appropriate care of unaccompanied /separated children.
