; Following the path that the discipline of anthropology has traveled in Peru throughout the Twentieth Century in relationship to other social and political processes that the country and Latin America faced, the author reflects upon the burgeoning of a critical thought in the anthropologies of Latin America and how critical we are of the different social sciences and what these do or fail to do with regards to the problems presented by reality to the inhabitants of each of these countries.

; Peruvian anthropology of the twentieth century contains, on the one hand, the intricate dispute over the definition of the object of study of this discipline from an enveloping essentialism, and, on the other hand, a marked political commitment on the part of anthropologists, who they become the protagonists of a closed ideological struggle that explains their frequent and active partisan militancy. Members of the academic elites, intertwined with the social elites, these anthropologists construct an anthropology with a culturalist root, deeply ideological and passionate, endowed with a surprising capacity for seduction, which sometimes becomes a theoretical anthropology and other times an applied anthropology, but almost always politically positioned. Despite the adoption of purportedly dehistoricizing perspectives, these anthropologists are trapped, to a greater or lesser degree, by conceptions in which the actors are tied to their own history. The social race that permanently emerges in his writings refers to human groups that often share a phenotype, but that have been culturally constructed with appreciable arbitrariness. ; The theme "Hegemonic anthropologies and the anthropologies of the South" is both an epistemological question and an issue of power and of the definition of the possible spaces for the production of anthropological knowledge. It is also an issue that relates to the ethics and responsibilities of anthropological research towards anthropological subjects. Starting in the 1960s and following decolonization, the emergence of new nation-states, new post-colonial nationalist discourses, new processes of domination, of social movements of politic and civic protest around the world, these issues have been widely debated. In the present contribution I want to trace the main lines of the debate, underscoring how claims and struggles in particular historical conjunctures have modified the epistemological context of anthropology and transformed the lines of power between anthropologies. I will also show the persistence of the forms of domination and hegemony of the anthropologies of the North, and how, in the present moment, in Spain, this hegemony is strongly related to the setting of the European Space for Higher Education, called the Bologna process.
