The article presents the personnel structure of the Russian army in the Caucasus in the period of 1830-1840-ies. The attention is paid to the problems of recruitment, and the study of everyday service of soldiers and officers. There are used the materials of the regional and local archives, namely the State archive of the Krasnodar Krai and the Archival department of administration of Sochi city (Russian Federation), as well as sources of a personal origin (memoirs). The work is widely used the pre-revolutionary, Soviet and modern russian literature. The study methods are the principles of objectivity, historicism, systematic, integrated consideration of socio-subjective in the subject of study. In conclusion, the authors note that despite of the difficulties of manning the army units in the Caucasus (the flight of the soldiers, crimes, etc.) the military situation and competent management of units, and equally significant terms of service allowed to melt antisocial composition of the number of recruits into combat-ready joint. The purpose of this article is to give some information about the First World War and pay tribute to the memory of those who defended the honour of their country. The authors consider the written and oral (family stories) sources devoted to one of those "flying men", who were "the eyes of the army". So the article deals with the history of participation of military aviator A.M. Cheremukhin [18 (30).05.1895, Moscow - 19.08.1958, Palanga, Lithuanian SSR, Soviet Union] in the First World War. He later became a Soviet scientist, designer of aircraft and helicopter, Doctor of Engineering (1937), Professor (1934), Lenin prizewinner (1957), twice Stalin prizewinner (1949, 1952), honored worker of science and technology of the Russian Federation (1947). He was awarded six orders of the Russian Empire (1916, 1917), «Croix de Guerre» of France (1917) and six Soviet orders (three orders of Lenin, two orders of the Red Banner of Labour and the order of the Red Star). The authors briefly describe the major milestones of his biography and measures to perpetuate his memory. ; В статье рассмотрена история участия в Первой мировой войне военного летчика А.М. Черемухина [18 (30). 05. 1895, Москва - 19.08.1958, Паланга, Литовская ССР] - в дальнейшем советского ученого, конструктора в области самолето- и вертолетостроения, доктора технических наук (1937), профессора (1934), лауреата Ленинской премии (1957), двух Сталинских премий (1949, 1952), заслуженного деятеля науки и техники РСФСР (1947), кавалера шести орденов Российской империи, «Военного креста» Франции, трех орденов Ленина, двух орденов Трудового Красного Знамени, ордена Красной Звезды. Кратко указаны основные вехи его биографии и меры по увековечиванию его памяти.

Abstract. Research on humor and laughter is carried out in many areas of cognitive linguistics and psychology, psycho- and sociolinguistics. Humor is viewed as a positive emotion evoked by the cognitive processes of evaluating comical utterances in various social settings (Martin, 2007). The aim of the paper is explore the cognitive and pragmatic aspects of the Ukrainian military humorous discourse in social media. To this end, linguistic methods of discourse analysis, contextual and intuitive logical interpretative analysis, and a psycholinguistic method of content analysis were applied. The study is based on the selected corpus of Internet memes and amusing comments taken from social media and further divided into thematic groups. The results of the study indicate that constructive humor comprising 47 per cent of the analyzed texts tend to be more popular than other psycholinguistic types. Its pragmatic purpose is to provide a positive impact on the process of group formation due to its capacity to facilitate interpersonal contacts between individuals by evoking positive emotions. Self-sustaining humor embracing 33 per cent of the analyzed texts manifests the speaker's ability to preserve a humorous viewpoint of any life events. "Black humor" and derogatory humor are less frequent in the Ukrainian Army discourse of social media covering only 20 per cent of all analyzed texts.

The article deals with the sports training in units of the Russian army during the Caucasian war. The attention is paid to the specifics of military operations in the coastal, flatland, foothill and mountain areas. The materials included the documents from the archival department of the Sochi city administration (Sochi, Russian Federation), scientific publications, as well as orders of the military department, which reflected the studying issues. The methodology of the article is based on the traditional principles of historicism, objectivity, analytical, probabilistic and statistical, typological and comparative methods. The method of historicism made it possible to see, on the basis of dissimilar facts, obtained in the course of practical work with the documents, the important phenomena and processes related to the organization of sports training in the Russian army and in particular among the troops in the Caucasus. In conclusion, the authors stated that the system of sports exercises covered all muscle groups and developed skills of the combatant in the Caucasus to overcome any difficulties in the implementation of combat missions. The system of sports training for all units was not the same and could be different. So, for example, the teams of the Azov barges were less trained on sports equipment, and paid more attention to the exercises on the development of the arms and shoulder girdle. В контексте проведенного исследования делается вывод о том ; что метафорическое моделирование выступает одним из языковых средств экспликации этностереотипов армейской субкультуры США. ; this study is intended to unveil a correlation between metaphorical images of the US Armed Forces and ethnic stereotypes of the army subculture within the Anglophone military-political discourse. The US Army is Family metaphorical model serves as a foundation for analyzing ethnic stereotypes of mass perception of the socio-professional environment of service members. According to the authors ; metaphorical modeling is perceived as a linguistic means of explication of ethnic stereotypes attributed to the US Army subculture.

The Soviet Union played an important role in liberation of Norway and Denmark from the Nazi invaders. However, nowadays we often notice historical falsification which leads to certain disagreements in the bilateral relations. The article analyses how modern Norway and Denmark view Soviet impact in their liberation from Nazism. It also focuses on acute problems in our countries' relations arisen from rewriting of history, as well as prospects for their solution.

At present, the formation of a positive image of the armed forces of the Russian Federation among various social groups is necessary. Many citizens want to have a full understanding of the army, since this is one of the most important institutions of the state and the country's security directly depends on it. One of the most important components is the image of the armed forces in the youth environment, as in Russia there is a mixed recruitment of troops, and many servicemen carry out their service on conscription. The transformation of the information sphere into a system-forming factor in the life of a society that actively influences its state, development and security is in demand. Therefore, the information security aspect is rather difficult to overestimate. It is very important for our state, in the current conditions of information confrontation, to respond in a timely manner to the information activity of potential adversaries who may try to form a negative image of the Russian army, undermining its fighting capacity, authority, and people's trust. There is an urgent increase in the role of information and communication technologies in politics and the public sphere. In this regard, it becomes possible to more effectively form, introduce and develop the image of the Armed Forces in the minds of citizens. There is a proliferation of conflicting and diverse information about the army, which is often untrue. To change such activities, effective approaches are needed in the production and broadcasting of information on the Armed Forces, the use of various channels of communication to enhance the prestige of military service and trust in it. It is necessary to cover competently and professionally the activities of the Armed Forces in military conflicts. Effective information support of the army's participation in military operations (including media) reduces the potential of potential adversaries to discredit the Armed Forces. And the integral image of the Russian army in the international arena increases its strength in the eyes of the world community, positively influences the export of weapons to military cooperation. The article analyzes the changes in the image of the Russian army at the present stage of its functioning. Building on the achievements of the domestic Political Science in the field of political imageology, the author focuses on the some negative and positive of the factors and trends, creating an image of the Russian Armed Forces. Author give periodization of the transformation of the image the army. Многие граждане хотят иметь полноценное представление об армии, так как это один из важнейших институтов государства и от него напрямую зависит безопасность страны. Одним из важнейших компонентов является образ вооружённых сил в молодёжной среде, так как в России идёт смешанное комплектование войск, и многие военнослужащие осуществляют свою службу по призыву. Востребовано превращение информационной сферы в системообразующий фактор жизни общества, который активно влияет на его состояние, развитие и безопасность. Поэтому информационный аспект безопасности довольно трудно переоценить. Очень важно нашему государству в современных условиях информационного противоборства вовремя реагировать на информационную активность потенциальных противников, которые могут пытаться формировать негативный имидж российской армии, подрывая её боеспособность, авторитет, доверие со стороны людей. Насущно возрастание роли информационно-коммуникационных технологий в политике и общественной сфере. В связи с этим появляется возможность более эффективно формировать, внедрять и развивать имидж Вооружённых сил в сознании граждан. Существует распространение противоречивой и разноплановой информации об армии, которая часто не соответствует действительности. Для изменения подобной деятельности необходимы эффективные подходы в области производства и трансляции информации о ВС, применение различных каналов коммуникации для повышения престижа военной службы и доверительного отношения к ней. Необходимо грамотно и профессионально освещать деятельность Вооружённых сил в военных конфликтах. Эффективное информационное сопровождение участия армии в военных действиях (в том числе медийное) снижает возможности потенциальных противников по дискредитации Вооружённых сил. А целостный формируемый образ российской армии на международной арене повышает её силу в глазах мирового сообщества, позитивно влияет на экспорт вооружения в военное сотрудничество. В статье анализируется изменение образа российской армии на современном этапе ее функционирования. Опираясь на достижения отечественной политологии в сфере политической имиджелогии, автор акцентирует внимание на некоторых факторах и тенденциях, как отрицательных, так и положительных, создания имиджа Вооруженных Сил России. Представлена авторская периодизация трансформации имиджа армии. Предложены стратегические векторы его улучшения.

Związek Ochotników – twórcy armii litewskiej (1927–1940)Związek Ochotników twróców armii litewskiej był najliczniejszą organizacją weteranów na Litwie. Powstała 7–8 stycznia 1927 roku i w 1940 r. miał około 4000 członków i 35 oddziałów na całej Litwie. Celem Związku była obrona wolności i niepodległości kraju, pielęgnacja świadomości narodowej, poprawa sytuacji społecznej jego członków oraz pielęgnacja pamięci bohaterów narodowych. Organizacja była aktywna w życiu politycznym kraju. Ochotnicy gorliwie odpowiadali na wydarzenia krytyczne dla ich ojczyzny i w nich brali aktywny udział albo nawet w kluczowych momentach występowali jako przywódcy. W tym czasie rząd jednak czasem nie dawał rady konstruktywnie zareagować na ich prośby. W roku 1938 zwołano kongres ochotników, którego oczekiwano od 1933 r. Było na nim 6500 uczestników z całej Litwy i nie wszyscy byli członkami Związku. Po okupacji sowieckiej w 1940 r. Związek został rozwiązany. Większa część pieniędzy została przekazana Komunistycznej Partii Litwy. Związek Ochotników został później odtworzony w trzech miejscach: Niemczech, USA i Litwie (w. 1994 r.) i wciąż jest siłą z nowymi ochotnikami z lat 1990–1991. Autorka powyższego artykułu jest przewodniczącą kowieńskiego biura Związku Ochotników twórców armii Litewskiej. ; The Volunteer Union to set up the Lithuanian army was the most numerous organization of combatants in Lithuania. It was organized on January 7–8, 1927, and in the year 1940 had around 4 thousand members and 35 departments throughout Lithuania. The aim of the Union was to protect and defend freedom and independence of the country, to raise and cherish national consciousness, to improve social welfare of its members and to take care of the eternal memory of the national heroes. The organization was active in the country's political life. The volunteers ardently responded to the events critical for the homeland and took an active part or even acted as leaders in crucial situations. The government of that time, however, sometimes failed to respond constructively to their requests. In the year 1938 the congress of volunteers was summoned, which was expected since 1933. The number of participants was 6500 from all over Lithuania and not all of them were members of the Union. Following the Soviet occupation of 1940 the Union was dissolved. Most part of the money was transferred to the Communist Party of Lithuania. The Volunteer Union was then re-established in three places: Germany, the USA, and Lithuania (1994) and is still in force with the volunteers of 1990–1991. The author of the present article is the President of the Kaunas department of the Volunteer Union of the Lithuanian army creators.

The article reconstructs the events of August 1941, when the Red Army and British troops jointly entered the territory of Iran. The Allies aimed to make Iran a transit base for supplies under Lend-Lease. The military units deployed in the country had to ensure the safety of traffic along the "Persian Corridor" against subversive activities of German intelligence and pro-German elements within. In history, these events have been known as the "Anglo-Soviet invasion of Iran".This article is based on the paper presented at "The military history of Russia" conference, which was held at Moscow University for the Humanities on April 25, 2016 ; В статье восстанавливаются события августа 1941 г., когда на территорию Ирана вступили части Красной Армии и войска Великобритании («Иранская операция»). В планах союзников было превращение Ирана в транзитную базу для поставок по ленд-лизу. Following the death of Constantine V in 775, his successors refused the military policy of the Isaurian dynasty which led to a number of adverse consequences. The army got involved into the confrontation between religious and political groups. As a result, by the mid-780s a crisis broke out in the military and administrative system of Byzantium. After the dissolution of most of the regular tagmata, defensive and offensive operationswere compelled to conduct militias of five eastern provinces (Opsikion, Thrakesion, Anatolikon, Armeniakon, Kibyrrhaioton). In the simultaneous war against Arabs and Bulgarians, this task proved to be impossible for them. According to the author, the military policy of the successors of Constantine V forced the empire to wage heavy defensive wars until the 820–830s. ; После смерти Константина V в 775 г. произошел отказ от военной политики династии Исавров, что привело к негативным последствиям. Армия оказалась вовлечена в борьбу религиозно-политических группировок и к середине 80-х гг. VIII в. в военно-административной системе Византии начался кризис. После расформирования большей части регулярных тагм, оборонительные и наступательные операции вынуждены были вести ополчения пяти восточных провинций (Опсикий, Фракисий, Анатолик, Армениак, Кивирреоты). В условиях одновременной войны против арабов и болгар эта задача оказалась для них невыполнимой. По мнению автора, военная политика преемников Константина V вынудила империю вести тяжелые оборонительные войны до 20–30-х гг. IX в.

The article provides brief information about the life and working activities of the first head of the Department of Radiation Hygiene of the Central Institute for Advanced Medical Training, academician, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Major General of the medical service F. G. Krotkov in the field of military hygiene during its formation in the Soviet health care, in the pre-war years and during the great Patriotic War. The direction of the scientific work of F. G. Krotkov at the Department of hygiene of the Military Medical Academy and contribution to the basis of the Aviation Scientific Research Institute of Sanitary in the WorkerPeasant Red Army and the Special Food Research Institute of the Red Army and its role in improving the combat capability of the Army and Navy as the head of the sanitary Department of the Main military-sanitary Directorate of the Red Army. It also reflects the activities of Professor F. G. Krotkov on the development of radiation hygiene as the head of the country's first specialized Department in the Central Institute for Advanced Medical Training. The paper provides information on perpetuate the name of Professor Krotkov on his small Home in S. Mosolovo, the Ryazan oblast and in Moscow city, where he worked for many years. ; В статье дается краткая информация о жизненном пути и деятельности первого заведующего кафедрой радиационной гигиены Центрального института усовершенствования врачей, академика, доктора медицинских наук, профессора, генерал-майора медицинской службы Ф.Г. Кроткова в области военной гигиены в период ее становления в советском здравоохранении, в предвоенные годы и во время Великой Отечественной войны. Показано направление научной работы Ф.Г. Кроткова на кафедре гигиены Военно-медицинской академии и вклад в основание авиационного научно-исследовательского санитарного института Рабоче-крестьянской Красной армии и специального НИИ питания Красной армии, а также его роль в повышении боеспособности армии и Военно-морского флота в качестве руководителя гигиенического отдела Главного военно-санитарного управления Красной армии. Отражена также деятельность профессора Ф.Г. Кроткова по развитию радиационной гигиены в качестве руководителя первой в стране профильной кафедры в Центральном институте усовершенствования врачей. Излагаются сведения об увековечивании имени профессора Кроткова на его малой родине в с. Мосолово Рязанской области и в городе Москве, где он работал долгие годы.

The research objective was to describe the structure of the borrowed macroconcept army, i.e. to determine its motivating and concept signs in the Russian mentality. The study involved nine etymological dictionaries and revealed six motivating signs, while nine explanatory dictionaries and language material made it possible to identify 32 conceptual signs: 1. Types and kinds of military units (eleven signs): air; (field) troops; armed (motivating signs to arm); (highest military / large) unit; naval; as opposed to naval and air forces; opposite of the elite military units; one / different branches of the armed forces; missile; ground (infantry / cavalry); without privileges. 2. Armed people (seven signs): Bolshevik (military forces) / Red Army; (military) men; army; aggregate; forces; composition of (several) corps and divisions; part of the active armed forces (at the front). 3. Purpose (six signs): war; to make capable of fighting (motivating signs); for conducting military operations; protection (of the state); ensuring the inviolability of borders and independence of the state; service. 4. Combat equipment (four signs): weapon (motivating signs); device (motivating signs); supply (motivating signs); to equip (motivating signs). 5. Leadership (two signs): state; under the general command of the chief military leader. 6. Association of people on a certain basis (two signs): a large number of people (united by a common feature: profession, social status, the same problem); proletariat / workers / workers. ; Цель – описать базовые признаки в структуре заимствованного макроконцепта армия. Задачи: определить мотивирующие и выявить понятийные признаки макроконцепта армия. Актуальность проводимого исследования состоит в определении базовых признаков изучаемого макроконцепта и их особенностей, а также рассмотрении когнитивных признаков данного макроконцепта в аспекте русской ментальности. В ходе исследования основного репрезентанта в девяти этимологических словарях было выявлено 6 мотивирующих признаков, в девяти толковых словарях и языковом материале – 32 понятийных признака макроконцепта армия, которые можно представить в виде 6 блоков: 1. Виды и рода военных соединений (11 признаков): воздушные; (полевые) войска; вооруженные (мотивирующий признак вооружать); (высшее войсковое / крупное) соединение; морские; в отличие от военно-морских и военно-воздушных сил; противоположность гвардии; один / различные род(а) войск; ракетные; сухопутные (пехотинцы / кавалерия); без привилегий. 2. Вооруженные люди (7 признаков): большевистские (военные силы) / Красная Армия; (военная) рать; воинство; совокупность; силы; состав из (нескольких) корпусов и дивизий; часть действующих вооруженных сил (на фронте). 3. Предназначение (6 признаков): война; делать способным к борьбе (мотивирующий); для ведения военных операций; защита (государства); обеспечение неприкосновенности границ и независимости государства; служба. 4. Боевое оснащение (4 признака): оружие (мотивирующий); прибор (мотивирующий); снабжать (мотивирующий); снаряжать (мотивирующий). 5. Руководство (2 признака): государственное; под общим началом главного военачальника. 6. Объединение людей по некому признаку (2 признака): большое количество людей (объединенных общим признаком: профессия, социальное положение, одинаковая проблема); пролетариат / рабочие / трудящиеся.
