Since 2008, European societies have experienced multiple and prolonged crises, the negative effects of which have mainly impacted young people. Based on data from three waves of the European Values Study (1999, 2008, 2017) this essay analyses whether, among these effects, there is a deterioration of "cosmopolitan openness" in young people in terms of attitude and sense of belonging. Proceeding from a perspective of "social cosmopolitanism" along two lines of inquiry, the essay first analyses whether and how the crises have altered young people's attitudes of openness and sense of belonging, and if such effects differ between European countries. The second line of inquiry explores the link between these two dimensions of cosmopolitan openness and the characteristics of the young people, with particular attention to the Italian case. The research reveals the presence of internal fractures within this segment of the population with regard to young people's ways of relating to diversity and negotiating belonging, which schisms recent crises are found to have further strengthened.
In recent years, international educational policies and documents have outlined a new profile of teacher competencies, highlighting the need to start from their personal sphere to build the professional dimension in an inclusive direction. In this regard, a construct on which the research has focused attention is that of attitudes as a variable that influences the success of inclusion processes especially in the presence of students with complex disorders such as thoseof the autistic spectrum, assuming that the presence of a deficit in the area of social interaction makes social participation very difficult to achieve. In the wake of these considerations, the present study is aimed at the validation of the Autism Attitude Scale for Teachers (AAST, Olley et alii, 1981) as a means of assessing teachers' attitudes toward students with autism spectrum disorder, outlining its possible utility for future research aimed at analyzing one of the supporting dimensions of the concept of inclusive competence.

; Scientific literature has reported that sport environments are generally hostile toward coming-out of gay, lesbian and bisexual (LGB) athletes. The present study tested gender and sexual orientation differences in negative attitudes toward coming-out in Italian sport contexts. An ad hoc measure, developed for the current study, was used for evaluating negative attitudes toward coming-out in sports related contexts. A sample of 75 Italian soccer players (61.3% heterosexuals and 38.7% LGB athletes) was used to verify two hypotheses; (a) men and heterosexuals will show more negative attitudes toward coming-out in sports related contexts than women and sexual minorities will, respectively; and (b) elite players will show more negative attitudes than non-elite players. The results showed that men and heterosexuals reported more negative attitudes toward coming-out in sports-related contexts than women and sexual minorities did, respectively There were no significant differences between elite players and non-elite players These results suggest that negative attitudes toward coming-out may reflect heterosexism and homophobia in Italian sport-related contexts. It is necessary to promote anti-discriminatory policies in order to reduce prejudice toward LGB people in Italian sports-related contexts.
