Scottish Recommended Lists for Cereals 2021/22 The Scottish cereals lists include varieties of spring and winter barley, wheat and oats that are of most agronomic and commercial value to Scottish growers and the cereals sector. Recommendations are made by SRUC supported by the Scottish Variety Consultative Committee and are based on data collected as part of the AHDB Recommended List and Scottish Government National List system. Highlights for 2021/22 The spring barley list has been consolidated with the main malting choices being Laureate and LG Diablo, both dual-purpose distilling and brewing varieties, and KWS Sassy, a distilling variety. Fairing remains on the list as the only fully approved grain distilling variety. Looking ahead, SY Tungsten and Firefoxx continue to make progress as they are evaluated commercially for malting use. The only new spring barley variety is Skyway, which has potential for brewing. The winter barley list includes three new two-row feed varieties, KWS Tardis, Bolton and Bordeaux, plus two new six-row hybrids, SY Kingston and SY Thunderbolt. The leading two-row feed choices are LG Mountain, KWS Orwell, KWS Tower, Valerie and KWS Hawking. The Scottish winter wheat list has increased to eighteen varieties, twelve of which are suitable for the grain distilling market. The leading distilling varieties are LG Skyscraper, Elation and KWS Jackal, supported by the biscuit-making variety Elicit. There are five new distilling varieties, Swallow, a soft feed variety, and soft-milling choices, LG Prince, LG Illuminate, LG Quasar and LG Astronomer. The other new entry to the list is a spring feed wheat variety, WPB Escape. There are no new spring or winter oat varieties. Sixteen varieties have been removed from the lists because of limited market interest, or low agronomic value. These are spring barley varieties Concerto, RGT Asteroid, Propino and Scholar; winter barleys KWS Cassia, KWS Creswell, LG Flynn, Jordan and Libra; winter wheat varieties Zulu, KWS Lili and Grafton and spring oats Firth, Yukon, Delfin and Elison.

New York City College of Technology (City Tech) is one of 24 colleges comprising the City University of New York (CUNY), the United States' largest urban public higher education institution legislatively mandated as the "vehicle for the upward mobility of the disadvantaged in the City of New York."1 Fulfilling this mission is vital to the success of City Tech students and requires the provision of easy, consistent access to course materials across digital platforms. Panelists will trace how City Tech has been at the vanguard of transforming teaching and learning through the foundation of two significant open pedagogy initiatives on its campus. In 2011, City Tech launched the OpenLab, an open-source platform where students, faculty, and staff meet to learn and share ideas, providing opportunities for the entire college and the public to connect and collaborate. This can be difficult to achieve at an urban commuter campus. In 2014, City Tech established an OER professional development program to reconceptualize course materials and lower textbook costs for students. These two initiatives are especially noteworthy given their rooting in local needs: both have been conceived and implemented for and by the City Tech community. Panelists include the Coordinator of the OER professional development program, the Co-Director of the OpenLab, and two faculty fellows in our OER professional development program. We represent distinct disciplines (Library, English, Biology, and Social Sciences) and offer unique interdisciplinary perspectives and approaches to open education. Critical to our institution's shift to open pedagogy is our commitment to fostering learning communities across the college, including faculty communities of practice not bound by rank, department, or disciplinary silos. Panelists will share how their work, individually and collectively, has strengthened City Tech's commitment to open pedagogy and has laid the groundwork for significant cultural change across the college.

Un nuevo número de nuestra revista vuelve a encontrarnos en un clima de protesta y rebelión en nuestra región, por muchos años de destrucción de lazos sociales, culturales y políticos acompañados de brutales represiones y violaciones a los DDHH en el hermano país de Colombia, y en plena pandemia. Como en nuestro número 20 -dedicado a la rebelión chilena de octubre 2019 (Alvarado Lincopi y Robles Recabarren, 2020)- hoy nos solidarizamos con les compañeres colombianes que enfrentan todavía, desde el 28 de abril, una brutal violencia por parte de las fuerzas policiales y militares del Estado, del ESMAD y de los comandos civiles armados, protegidos por la fuerza pública. Casi podemos decir que presenciamos las escenas que se difundieron ampliamente por las redes sociales, por videos y por exitosos llamados a la solidaridad para la difusión de los acontecimientos. This thesis studies fictional representations of Fyodor Dostoevsky in contemporary biofiction. The aim of the study is to present an intermedial theoretical framework for biofiction, a genre defined as fictional biographical and often metafictional narratives in which a biographical subject serves as the focal point for the story or plays a role integral to the narrative. Drawing on contributions from prior studies within different areas—biopics, the biographical novel, intermediality, transmedial narratology—the thesis identifies the most salient tenets of an increasingly important and ubiquitous genre—its fictional, intermedial, and metafictional properties—to suggest a medium-spanning definition. From this intermedial definition of the genre, it is suggested that biofiction studies should move beyond medium-specific analysis. By situating the genre firmly within the realm of fiction, the thesis underlines the fact that it is exactly the fictional element that allows the genre to open up important ways to engage with a certain biographical subject. Overall, the biofiction definition presented in the thesis is inspired by Jacques Derrida's différance. Arguing that contemporary biofiction arose from the larger aporetic shift in theory and fiction in the 1960s, which was directed toward various presuppositions undergirding epistemological, metaphysical, and ontological projects, it is contended that biofiction fictionalizes subjects to engage with and reassess the assumptions that suffuse our understanding of the subject. From their metafictional perspective, biofictions also employ subjects for various purposes to interrogate contemporary issues. Biofictions are thus turned toward both a historical moment and its own contemporary context. Buttressed by the intermedial perspective, it is argued that biofictions often employ sustained intermedial strategies—for instance, intermedial references and formal imitation—to engage not only with artistic subjects such as Dostoevsky and their work but also with the premises of creating art. The thesis centers on five Dostoevsky biofictions within film and literature: Aleksandr Zarkhi's biopic Twenty-Six Days from the Life of Dostoevsky (1980), Leonid Tsypkin's novel Summer in Baden-Baden (1982), J. M. Coetzee's novel The Master of Petersburg (1994), Lara Vapnyar's novel Memoirs of a Muse (2006), and Vladimir Khotinenko's television series Dostoevsky (2010). As contemporary biofictions, these fictional representations of Dostoevsky were all produced or written in the wake of the aforementioned aporetic shift and therefore comprise examples of the reflexive and metacritical form of biofiction that is discussed in the thesis. The inclusion of Dostoevsky biofictions is, in part, connected with the various critical perceptions of the writer; it is maintained that biofictions such as those analyzed in the thesis proffer new readings of issues that have been overlooked or have not received due attention, such as how Dostoevsky engaged with and augmented the rivalry polemics of his day; the ways in which his conceptualization of Russian identity rested as much on inclusion as exclusion; how Dostoevsky has been employed to propagate certain models of the muse, the genius, and canonicity; and how, in today's Russia, the writer is employed to embody and express the hyperreal politics of Vladimir Putin's administration.

Explorations of the seen and unseen social changes within the academy underpin the Counter// Narratives' project, where in 2019-2020 the life history narratives of first generation academics from Angola, India, South Africa and Syria were engaged with by visual artists from the collective Analogue Eye: Video Art Africa, many of whom are themselves first generation university-educated. In each of these contexts, a critical mass of those from groups and knowledge systems misrecognised and oppressed have negotiated radical changes in the figures and institutions of authority in their countries. Authorship is central to such power and to agency. This paper deliberates such questions and politics of authorship alongside those entanglements of author-ing inherent to the interpretative processes of storytelling, artistic research and interpretation within The 'Counter // Narratives' Project itself - which sought to explore how counter-stories may see a way through the myopia of the social delegitimation of the western-oriented academy, provide challenge to reproductions of internalised oppression, and openings to engagement with more just notions of authority. Against the dominant hero narratives of social mobility and exceptionalism, and the looming spectres of colonial universities' mythologies of quality, the artists grappled with the ethico-historical responsibility of bearing witness, but also creating generative and equitious imaginaries through their creative arts research practice. Drawing on reflective interviews with the artists, participants and ourselves as the research-curatorial team, in this video we offer a synopsis of the paper for this conference. Within it, we highlight insights into the layers of narration negotiated, including the relations between those layers and the visual discourses and micro-textuality of the final videos. Excerpts and stills from the video artworks, and extracts from correspondence, transcripts and audience reception responses are referenced by the research-curatorial team, to provide a rich and complex dialogue about the im-possibilities of representing and visualising emancipatory imaginaries.

The Confederate Graves Survey Archive of the Texas Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans consists of surveys of cemeteries throughout Texas, and portions of Oklahoma and New Mexico. The surveys document the interment of Confederate States of America military veterans. United States of America (Union) veterans, as well as able-bodied men at the time of the Civil War, are also documented. 13 boxes entitled "Grave Surveys" contain grave surveys listed county-by-county, 3 boxes of "Unit Files" list surveyed individuals by their military unit. Finally, 17 boxes contain "Veteran Files" that document each veteran by name in "last name, first name, middle initial" format. An index that cross-references each of the collection series (Grave Surveys, Unit Files, and Veteran Files) is included, as are institutions to surveyors on how and what to document while conducting surveys. ; N. In view of the robust link often inferred between autonomous journalism and the strength of a society's democratic institutions, and against the background of current challenges to journalists' traditional roles as purveyors of timely and independent information, we interviewed 352 Canadian journalists about their social and political roles and the influences on their news choices. Comparison of their responses against an international dataset (N=27,567) suggests that Canadian journalists place greater value on detached monitorial roles and claim relative autonomy from commercial and other influences on their work. Further, in comparing these findings to an influential panel study from 1999 to 2003, we conclude that the Canadian journalists' "credo," focused on neutral reporting and oriented more to perceived public interest than to business or audience interests, remains surprisingly intact despite contemporary pressures on news forms and business models. In today's world, growing cultural integration has a direct impact on the development of tourism, which is important from the economic as well as the social, political or ecological perspective. Given the rapid expansion of tourism on the global market and the ever-increasing competitiveness of the tourism sector, it is important to assess the state of the tourism sector in Lithuania and determine the potential for its development. The results of the qualitative research have demonstrated that the policy options that could allow for the smooth development of Lithuanian tourism have eluded clear identification owing to the less than appropriate regulation of this area and the absence of effective tourism management. It has been discovered that the legal framework so far remains underdeveloped. In addition, when it comes to tourism policy management, the relevant functions tend to not be performed properly. Moreover, there is a lack of cooperation among the institutions responsible for tourism coordination or otherwise indirectly connected to the area, whereas cooperation between the local and the national level is minimal. This shows that a number of areas may require improvement in order for the country's tourism development policy to become more effective. However, if the country manages to perform a targeted elimination of the problematic areas and makes proper use of its strengths and existing potential in the tourism sector, such as the favorable geographical location, a well-developed sector of tourism-related services, rich recreational resources, or an attractive ratio between the quality and price of tourism products, the effective development of tourism in Lithuania will become possible in the long term.

This paper aims to analyze how Govinda Raj Bhattarai has recapitulated the public angst, the deteriorated socio-economic condition, and the cultural downfall of Nepal during the period of ten years of Maoist civil war. The characters of the novel, Ananta, Purnima, Bhaktaman, Chitrakar, and others confront various problems in their lives due to the political instability and domestic war or the Maoist civil war. Through the close reading of the text from the perspectives of trauma theory, with special references of the trauma theorists, Cathy Caruth, Jeffrey C. Alexander, and the like, the paper focuses on why and how the Maoist waged war against the imposition of the social, political, spiritual ideologies by the ruling parties, that is by the monarchical systems. The research finding is that the domestic war leads to nothing but trauma, demolition, anarchy, fights, in the life of the public, signified through the experiences of the emotionally wounded characters.

The Interdisciplinary Nucleus of Open and Accessible Educational Resources (OER Nucleus) of the University of the Republic (UdelaR) in Uruguay, integrates the open practice of research groups from different fields combined with the participation of civil society organizations, educational institutions and governmental sector. The adoption of Open Education strategies, and in particular OER adoption, requires actions that contribute to change educational practices, as well as the development of infrastructures that support OER's life cycle. One of the OER Nucleus research lines integrates information and communication technologies (ICT) with teacher training, towards an improvement in the use and collaborative creation of Open and Accessible Educational Resources and Open Repositories. This paper presents preliminary results of the actions carried out in this line, providing substantive evidence for the development of a sustainable OER Repository and strategies for OER adoption at the university. The convergence between Open Access and OER repositories is analyzed, as well as the requirements for adapting institutional repositories for the implementation of OER collections. Finally, future strategies for the adoption are presented, based on the development of Open Practices.

Introduction: The "sanctuary city" movement is a grassroots, human rights-based response to increased numbers of non-status migrants living and working in global cities (Faraday 2012; Sawchuk & Kempf 2008; Bhuyan 2012; OCASI 2012). Nonstatus migrants live in situations of extreme precariousness — they are subject to detention and deportation if identified by federal authorities; often work in poor conditions; are socially isolated; face poverty, abuse, and exploitation; and are unable to safely access essential social services, including those related to healthcare, education, labour, shelters, food banks, and police services (Gibney 2000; De Giorgi 2010; Noll 2010). In February 2013, Toronto became the first "sanctuary city" in Canada, which is currently styled "Access T.O." Hamilton and Vancouver followed suit in 2014 and 2016, respectively. The primary objective of Access T.O. is to ensure that all residents are able to access municipal and police services, regardless of immigration status. The policy directs city officials not to: 1) inquire into immigration status when providing select services, 2) deny non-status residents access to services to which they are entitled, and 3) share personal or identifying information with federal authorities, unless required to do so by federal or provincial law (City of Toronto 2013). ; Hudson, G., Atak, I., Manocchi, M., & Hannan, C.
