This paper aimed to study about bus driver's occupational stress. This issue - stress - has been extensively studied, being a facilitator in the development of numerous diseases and impairing the quality of life and productivity of individuals. Aims: This work also investigated the factors that affect the relationship between man/work and aimed to identify the stage of stress and symptoms. The health problems related to work, which are more common among drivers, in semi-urban passengers transportation service, were studied as well, in a company called "Viação Javaé", in Gurupi, state of Tocantins, Brazil. Methods: Lipp's Inventory of Stress Symptoms for Adults - ISSL - and demographic questionnaire were applied. Eight drivers were targets of this research and their responses were transcribed into charts and graphs. Results: Several causative factors of drivers' job stress were identified and grouped into three classifications: working conditions, vehicle conditions and interpersonal relations with passengers. The stress levels found were low, because the vast majority - 78% of the subjects - were not stressed at the time of application of the instrument. The presence of stress was found in only 22% of subjects, and these were in the resistance stage, with physical symptoms. Back problems were the most common among the drivers. Final Considerations: We conclude this paper by saying that it is almost impossible to avoid stress in our lives, but change the adverse conditions at work, as well as lifestyle, are ways to face it more appropriately and intelligently.
The intention is to challenge the common perception that Raymond Aron is a realist author. Indeed, despite the author's close affinities with classical realism Aron's thinking displays a Kantian dimension and an idealist thinking concerned with moral issues and with a certain notion of freedom that set him apart from realism. The argument is that within the realm of international relations the thinking of Raymond Aron is best seen as resulting from the existing tension between realism and liberalism, starting from a position close to classical realism that evolved towards what is considered to be the via media in International Relations. Analyses the lives and livelihoods of the female cashew shellers in Mozambique's capital in the colonial era, during which the industry grew to be a major export, and relates how the women played a fundamental, but previously underappreciated, role in the colony's economy. JOINT RUNNER-UP FOR THE 2017 AIDOO-SNYDER BOOK PRIZE Between the late 1940s and independence in 1975, rural Mozambican women migrated to the capital, Lourenço Marques, to find employment in the cashew shelling industry. This book tells the labour and social history of what became Mozambique's most important late colonial era industry through the oral history and songs of three generations of the workforce. In the 1950s Jiva Jamal Tharani recruited a largely female labour force and inaugurated industrial cashew shelling in the Chamanculo neighbourhood. Seasonal cashew brews had long been an essential component of the region's household, gift and informal economies, but bythe 1970s cashew exports comprised the largest share of the colony's foreign exchange earnings. This book demonstrates that Mozambique's cashew economy depended fundamentally on women's work and should be understood as "whole cloth". Drawing on over 100 interviews, the rich narratives convey layered histories: the rural crises that triggered the flight of women, their lives as factory workers, widespread payment and wage fraud, the formation of innovative urban families, and the health costs that all African families paid for municipal neglect of their neighbourhoods. In the present paper we will analyze one of the trends of Russian legal philosophy which exerts a considerable influence on the political processes on-going in this country. This trend is revealed in so called state-centralism: an ideology according to which the State is omnipotent and can interfere with any matters without any limitation from inside or outside. This "ideology of Leviathan" has been many times articulated in legal philosophy, to begin with Plato or Aristotle. In Russia this ideology has found a fertile soil, as its waste spaces, heterogeneous population and unfriendly environment (both in political and natural senses) made it clear for many that without powerful central authorities there will be no further for such a big country. To wit, it will either fall apart as the French, British and other empires, or will need to get modernized and restructured according to the models of other big Western counties (like the US). This paper is developed on the base of two lectures that the present author gave in 2013 and 2014 at Law School of the Federal University of Parana grace to kind invitation and support of this School and to relentless efforts of Professor Cesar Serbena. We do hope that this paper will be an important adjunct to our lectures and will be helpful to those of our Brazilian colleagues who seek to understand the actual political situation in Russia, its implications and perspectives in the light of philosophical debates that underpin these discourses.
