In: Griot: Revista de Filosofia, Band 17, Heft 1, S. 97-113
In 'The Oxford Handbook of Wittgenstein', Michael Potter's essay 'Wittgenstein on mathematics' offers not only an analysis on why Wittgenstein's philosophy of mathematics is so controversial among philosophers and mathematicians but also justifies such controversy. For that purpose, Potter emphasizes that Wittgenstein's discussions on math are unfinished. This article sheds light on some inconsistencies and contradictions pertaining Wittgenstein's mathematic thoughts which, although reinforcing the decade-long criticism on the author, did not interest scholars as much as Wittgenstein's comments on Kurt Gödel's incompleteness theorems and his dialogues with Alan Turing on the foundations of mathematics.
In: Griot: Revista de Filosofia, Band 17, Heft 1, S. 398-412
This paper aims to present the ethical thinking of Simone de Beauvoir as it is exposed in her book 'Pour une morale de l'ambiguité'. In this book, the author retakes her understanding of the human existence given in her previous text, 'Pyrrhus et Cinéas', unfolding better her analysis and presenting an ambiguous ethical principle as universal and singular at the same time from which an ethics consistent with human existence would be outlined. Thus, we will seek to characterize properly how Simone de Beauvoir understands this ethics of ambiguity, fundamentally from the comprehension of the affirmation that "to will oneself moral and to will oneself free are one and the same decision".
The media in Martín-Barbero: before and after mediations ; Os meios em Martín-Barbero: antes e depois das mediações
The text discusses the role of the media in Jesus Martín-Barbero's thought. It is argued that the notion of mediation does not obscure its cultural, social l, and political agency, nor does it overlook the economic implications that govern and circumscribe its action. In his theoretical trajectory, in refuting the idea of mediacentrism, the author, while expanding, also balances his gaze on this important configurative instance of contemporary societies.

The 'National Security Strategy of the USA' and Brazilian Military Thought: Imagining the Near Future ; "Estratégia de Segurança Nacional" dos EUA e pensamento militar brasileiro: imaginando o futuro próximo
This paper examines the US National Security Strategies, 2002 and 2006, with a view to understanding the impact that some of their elements, including the doctrine of pre-emptive war, may have on Brazilian military thought. By focusing on revealing articles by Brazilian military intellectuals, and re-examining the international legal implications of the Strategies, the author determines that the implicit threats to the national sovereignty of middle-range powers will intensifythe growing suspicion and senseof threat posed by the US to the ArmedForces of Brazil.

The Whole World as Strange Place ; Arbitrariedade, Incertezas e Redes: um "voo baixo" sobre o mundo inteiro
; In The Whole World as Strange Place, an essay-like work, Canclini approachesmany cultural aspects of the contemporaneity in times of social decomposition. The structures that we believed to be stable and the theories we considered to explain the social realities no longer stand in a world in which actors are connected to socio technical networks and are creating and recreating their forms of association. In the book, the author crosses the world like a strange place, throwing itself in a "fly down" on subjects like: being foreign; the democracy, that in his concern gains the adjective "scoundrel"; forms of hacktivism; ways of writing science and literature; in addition to talking about academic congresses, always from a critical point of view regarding dominant Western culture and magisterial certainties.

Cilende: the mask dance at the Luvale Culture Festival (Angola) ; Cilende: o baile das máscaras no Festival da Cultura Luvale (Angola)
This article presents new ethnographic and visual material on the dance of the makixi, the ancestors manifested in the form of masked dancers, originally found in the circumcision rituals (mukanda) practiced by Bantu peoples from the large area of confluence between Angola, Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo, including the Luvale. Proclaimed Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2005, the main locus of their performance today is the large Luvale 'culture' festival, held since the 1950s in Zambia and more recently in Angola. Based on an ethnography of the Angolan version of the festival, researched between 2013 and 2013, the author focuses on the makixi dances, which comprise the event's main attraction, showing the close relationship between the morphology of the masks and the dance styles, helping to narrow the enormous gap opened up by the lapse of almost forty years without any research being carried out in the area due to warfare.

From the street to the stage, unsuspected relations between popular and theatrical dances ; Da rua para os palcos, relações insuspeitas entre dança popular e dança teatral (Resenha de Marianna Monteiro)
; The conflicting relationship between an alleged "dancing nature" of Brazilian people and the only remote participation dance takes on stage in Brazil's cultural scene is the initial provocation that led Marianna Monteiro to carry out her research, timely called Dança popular: espetáculo e devoção (Popular dance: spectacle and devotion). As suggested in the subtitle, research deals with seemingly opposite vectors - coming from the old dialectic of the sacred and the profane - however, marked by unsuspected relations, where politics, economics, aesthetics and religion intersect in the formative process of Brazilian popular dances, considered by the author as an integral part of the expansion of the Portuguese Modern State, between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries. The research is the result of the doctoral thesis presented to the Department of Philosophy of the Faculty of Philosophy, Languages and Literature and Human Sciences of the University of São Paulo (FFLCH-USP), under the guidance of Professor Olgária Feres Matos.

Enrique Dussel and the Philosophy of Liberation in Organization Studies ; Enrique Dussel y la filosofía de la liberación en los estudios organizacionales ; Enrique Dussel e a Filosofia da Libertação nos Estudos Organizacionais
The purpose of this theoretical essay is to revisit, in a didactic and non-exhaustive way, the main ideas of Enrique Dussel and his Philosophy of Liberation, exploring the main concepts and categories elaborated by the author. The positive basis of this philosophy puts the challenge of breaking with the silence of the voices of the oppressed, exploited or victims who were not considered relevant agents in the construction of modern society (women, indigenous population, slaves, peasants, etc.). The Philosophy of Liberation is based on the concepts of Totality, Exteriority, Alienation, Mediation, Proximity and Liberation. Totality, based on the conquering pretension of the colonizers, is obtained from an ontological dimension that reveals truth as what stems from those who consider themselves superior by their technological or economic domination. This discourse resulted in the exteriority of those who do not originally integrate this public, excluding them from the system and attributing to them the alienation, which is the denial of their subject status. We confirm the colonization of the Administration when we substitute critical consciousness of the administration for the reading of popular business media, for rhetoric of the consultants and for the belief of a free market where, naturally, there are resources only for those who are to prosper in a scenario of uncertainties. The classic theory of economy makes the competition and the exteriority natural, however, we can organize ourselves to meet popular needs in a more inclusive, democratic way, respecting the limits of the environment. Proximity and liberation are a fundamental thought for overcoming such vision.
