Maģistra darba tēma ir "Civil-militārās attiecības: armijas ietekmes faktori Arābu pavasara notikumos." Arābu pavasaris aizsākās 2010.gada nogalē, kad Arābu valstis pārņēma protestu vilnis ar vēlmi pēc politiskām pārmaiņām. Arābu pavasari var uzskatīt par 2011.gada nozīmīgāko notikumu pasaulē. Darba teorētiskajā daļā tiks skaidrots civil-militāro attiecību jēdziens un armijas nozīme. Darba analīzes daļā tiks aplūkotas četras valstis – Ēģipte, Lībija, Jemena un Tunisija. Darba mērķis ir noskaidrot kā ir notikusi vara nomaiņa Arābu pavasara laikā šajās valstīs, kādu lomu šajā varas maiņā ir spēlējuši militārie spēki – armija. Kāpēc valsts militārie spēki līdzīgā situācijā tomēr rīkojās atšķirīgi, kādi faktori ietekmējuši šo atšķirīgo militāro spēku rīcību. The theoretical part will explain concept of civil-military relations and the importance of military. Research will focus at four countries - Egypt, Libya, Yemen and Tunisia. The goal is to find how the change of power were held in these countries during the Arab Spring, what role in this power shift played military forces - army. Why in a similar situation military forces acted differently during the Arab Spring, what factors influenced the different actions of the military. Maģistra darba autore ir studente Anete Ābele. Darba tēma ir Latvijas – Padomju Savienības politiskās attiecības 1939.g – 1940.g. Tēma skatīta pieņemot, ka dotajā laika posmā īstenotie PSRS plāni pret Latviju bija izplānoti jau vairākus gadus pirms tam. Svarīgs avots šī pieņēmuma pamatā ir 1938.gada PSRS armijas karte. Darba mērķis ir: pamatojoties uz avotiem un literatūru kritiski izvērtēt Latvijas – PSRS politiskās attiecības laikā no 1939.gada augusta – 1940.gada jūnijam.Tika secināts, ka Latvijas ārpolitiskās manevrēšanas iespējas apgrūtināja valstī valdošais režīms, iepriekšējos gados neīstenotās iespējas un nevienlīdzība ar PSRS. PSRS skaidrā, nekļūdīgā virzība uz mērķu īstenošanu norādīja, ka politiskā stratēģija nebalstās uz spontānu situācijas izmantošanu, bet sakņojas rūpīgi izstrādātā plānā. ; Author is master's student Anete Abele.Title of master's paper is: Political Relations between Latvia and Soviet Union (1939-1940).Question viewed on the assumption that for the time being USSR's implemented plans for Latvia were planned many years before. An important source for this assumption is 1938 map of the Soviet army.The purpose is: based on archive sources and literature critically evaluate Latvian - Soviet political relations from august 1939.–june 1940.Main conclusions are that Latvian foreign policy difficulties to maneuver in this time period were because of regime, in previous years unused opportunities and inequality with the USSR when it comes to strategy.USSR's clear, infallible progress towards, means that political strategy is not based on the spontaneous use of the situation, but is rooted in carefully developed plan.

Maģistra darba "Latvijas apģērbu ražošanas nozares konkurētspēja" mērķis ir,pamatojoties uz statistikas datiem un ekspertu intervijās iegūtās informācijas, veikt Latvijas apģērbu ražošanas nozares analīzi, izvērtēt tās konkurētspēju, kā arī noteiktnozares uzņēmumu konkurētspējīgās priekšrocības un trūkumus. Maģistra darbs sastāv no konkurētspējas teorētiskās literatūras apkopojuma, analīzei pielietotās metodoloģijas apraksta un pētījumu rezultātu apkopojuma. Darba rezultāti sniedz būtisku ieskatu Latvijas apģērbu ražošanas nozarē, šī brīža situācijā tirgū, kā arī konkurences stāvoklī. Pētījuma rezultāti parāda, ka apģērbu ražošanas nozares konkurētspējīgās priekšrocības veidojošie faktori ir precīzās piegādes, īsā laika periodā, kvalitātes atbilstība Eiropas prasībām, profesionāls darbaspēks, ilgtermiņa kontakti ar pircējiem, atbilstoša cena. Master's paper consists of summary of theoretical literatur about competitiveness, description of used methodology and summary of results from the research. The results of research gives insight about Latvian apparel industry, the market situation and competitiveness. The results shows that the competitve advantage of Latvian apparel industry are prompt delivery, within a short period of time, professional workforce, quality compliance with the requirements of European Union, long-term contact with customers and the appropriate price. Darbs "Inflācijas samazināšanas ietekme uz Latvijas tautsaimniecību" ir veltīts vienai no esošajām ekonomikas problēmām. Darbā ir izpētīta inflācijas būtība un ietekmējošie faktori, kā arī izanalizētas inflācijas ekonomiskās sekas. Ir izteikts teorētiskais pamatojums tam, ka Latvijas tautsaimniecībā ir sastopama izmaksu inflācija, kā arī ir izpētīta inflācijas dinamika Latvijas tautsaimniecībā pirms un pēc iestāšanas Eiropas Savienībā. Darbā ir veikta analīze pretinflācijas politikas īstenošanā Grieķijā, kas arī ir saskārusies ar augstu inflāciju. Maģistra darbs sastāv no ievada, 3 nodaļām, secinājumiem un priekšlikumiem. Darba pirmajā nodaļā ir apskatītas teorētiskās atziņas par inflāciju un tās būtību, apskatīti tās ietekmējošie faktori un raksturotas ekonomiskās sekas. Otrajā nodaļā ir izpētīta un izanalizēta inflācijas dinamika Latvijas tautsaimniecībā pirms un pēc iestāšanās Eiropas Savienībā. Darba trešajā nodaļā ir izpētīta Grieķijas pieredze pretinflācijas politikas īstenošanā. Ir izanalizēti pretinflācijas politikas pamatprincipi un noteikti galvenie virzieni. Ir izpētīta inflācijas attīstība nākotnē, izmantojot dažādu ekspertu veiktos pētījumus un izteikto viedokli. Veicot tehniskos aprēķinus, izmantojot datorprogrammas, ir noteiktas nākotnes vērtības inflācijai. ; The paper "The influence of decreasing inflation on the Latvian national economy" is devoted to one of the existing economic problems. The paper states the essence of inflation and the influencing factors as well as characterises the economic consequences of inflation. Theoretical basis has been expressed to the fact that in the Latvian national economy we come across the inflation of costs, as well as the dynamics of inflation in the Latvian national economy before and after joining the European Union has been studied. The paper also studies the process of implementing the anti-inflation policy in Greece that also experienced a high rate of inflation. The Master's paper consists of the introduction, three chapters, conclusions and suggestions. The first chapter of the paper provides theoretical background information on inflation and its essence as well as describes its influencing factors and economic consequences. The second chapter deals with the study and analysis of the dynamics of inflation in the Latvian national economy before and after joining the European Union. The third chapter of the paper provides a study on the Greek experience in implementing the anti-inflation policy. The author has analysed the key principles of the antiinflation policy and determined the main directions. The chapter includes a study on the future development of the inflation based on the studies and expressed views of various experts. By doing technical calculations and using software the future values for the inflation have been determined

Maģistra darba izvēlētā tēma ir "Publiskā pārvalde maksātnespējas jomā". Darba mērķis ir izpētīt publiskās pārvaldes lomas maksātnespējas jomā nepieciešamību Latvijas sociāli ekonomiskajā vidē, tās regulējuma tiesiski pozitīvos un negatīvos aspektus, kā arī noskaidrot maksātnespējas procesa nepilnības un analizēt iespējamos risinājumus šī procesa pilnveidošanai. Izvirzītā darba mērķa sasniegšanai tiek izvirzīti šādi darba uzdevumi: 1.izpētīt spēkā esošo maksātnespējas procesa tiesisko regulējumu un identificēt tā nepilnības publiskās pārvaldes jomā, noskaidrot šī regulējuma vēsturisko izcelsmi; 2.iepazīties ar ārvalstu normatīvajiem aktiem un tiesu praksi, starptautisko konferenču materiāliem un starptautisko institūciju izstrādātajām vadlīnijām publiskās pārvaldes jomā, kā arī izanalizēt Maksātnespējas likumā paredzētos tiesību instrumentus publiskās pārvaldes jomā; 3.sniegt priekšlikumus Maksātnespējas likumā paredzēto publiskās pārvaldes nodrošināšanas tiesību instrumentu pilnveidošanai. Darba pirmajā nodaļā atspoguļots maksātnespējas tiesiskais raksturojums, kā arī vēsturisks ieskats maksātnespējas tiesību mehānisma rašanās procesā un maksātnespējas procedūru tiesiskās bāzes attīstība Latvijā. Darba otrajā daļā tiek analizētas publiskās pārvaldes iestādes, kas ir iesaistītas maksātnespējas procesā. Savukārt darba trešajā daļā, tiek izpētīta publiskās pārvaldes nepieciešamība maksātnespējas jomā. Darba ceturtajā daļā atspoguļots publiskās pārvaldes regulējums jaunajā maksātnespējas likumprojektā, kā arī maksātnespējas likumprojekta priekšvēsture, likuma mērķi un būtība un maksātnespējas likumprojektā neatrisinātās problēmas publiskās pārvaldes jomā. ; The theme of the master's thesis is "Public administration in area of insolvency". The aim of the thesis is to study the role of public administration in the field of insolvency, the positive and negative aspects of its regulation, to determine the flaws of the insolvency process and to suggest the possible solutions for improvement. The following tasks have been set, in order to reach the above mentioned goal: 1.to study the current legislation in force in the field of insolvency, identify its flaws and determine its historical origins; 2.to examine legislation and court cases in the field of insolvency in other countries, to get acquainted with the guidelines and information available from international seminars, as well as to analyse the legal instruments envisaged in the Insolvency law in the field of public administration; 3.to suggest improvements in the legal instruments for the public administration envisaged in the Insolvency law. The legal aspects of insolvency and a historical overview of the development of the legal process of insolvency, together with information on the development of the legal basis in the mentioned field in Latvia is provided in the first part of the thesis. The second part analyses the institutions which are involved in the insolvency process. The third part studies the role of public administration in the field of insolvency. The fourth and final part provides information on the regulation of the public administration in the new draft law on insolvency, the history of the draft law, the aim and sense of it, as well as the unsolved problems.

New government regulations effective with 01.09.2011 require that preschool teachers produce written reports to children's parents or guardians assessing their children upon graduation. So far preschool teachers had had little experience with similar written forms of assessment, and this creates questions regarding the assessment design and implementation. This work's aim was to theoretically evaluate the problems of preschool children's achievement assessment and analyze results of pedagogues' inquiry on potential ways of solving them. This article explores some of the more pressing questions, as well as the consequences of poor assessment design such as conflict with parents, mislabeling of children, affecting children's motivations, effect on teacher's and institution's reputation, additional workload, and resource consumption. Authors look at experience accumulated in other countries while tackling these issues and suggest using a dual evaluation model.

Research problem: The ambiguity and lack of data for application of indicators of environmental management burden the improvement of support instrument system and the development of sustainability of borderland regions.The aim of research: investigate the place of environment aspect in the development of enterprises in Kurzeme. Based on the obtained results, develop suggestions for the environmental management indicators by the use of which there could be controlled the effectiveness of the use of entrepreneurship support instruments and the environmental results of the enterprises. Practical research consists of inquiry – internet survey, where questionnaire form was located into internet page www.apklausa.lt. Information was gained from 150 entrepreneurs in the Kurzeme from different business branches.Conclusions: entrepreneurs have different attitude towards the objectives of entrepreneurship support instrument usage and the place of nature resource tax in the decision making on company development. Ternary nanocomposites, composed of polyoxymethylene (POM), ethylene octene copolymer and zinc oxide (ZnO), are prepared by melt compounding. The effects of two types of ethylene-octene copolymers, differing with α-octene content (38% for EOC38 and 17% for EOC17), as well as nanostructured ZnO on thermal behavior of POM are investigated. The content of EOC in the POM based composites is varied between 10 and 50 wt%, while the content of ZnO is 2 wt%. Thermal behavior of POM based systems are studied by using differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis coupled with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Results of thermogravimetric analysis show that, by rising either the elastomer or ZnO content, thermal stability of the investigated POM composites can be increased. The modifying effect of EOC17 in respect of thermal resistance is somewhat greater than that of EOC38. Simultaneous addition of EOC and ZnO to POM is synergistic with respect to thermal stability of the composite material. POLYM. ENG. Epidemiological, Clinical, Molecular Features and Early Detection Strategy of Most Frequent Hereditary Cancers in Latvia
The aim of the study was to determine epidemiological, clinical and molecular features of hereditary breast-ovarian, colorectal, endometrial, prostate and pancreatic cancer in Latvia. The study was performed from 2006 to 2009. Family cancer histories and DNA samples from 5,040 cancer cases were collected, and more than 6,000 molecular tests were performed including multiplex PCR, direct sequencing, denaturing high performance liquid chromatography and others. For the first time, a BRCA2 gene mutation positive hereditary breast cancer family was identified. The necessity of 2 BRCA1 gene founder mutations testing, irrespective of family cancer history for breast and ovarian cancer patients, was confirmed on a large number of positive cases. Regarding hereditary ovarian cancer, every ninth case affected with this malignancy was associated with the BRCA1 gene mutation. For the first time, positive familial adenomatous polyposis cases positive for APC gene mutation were reported and data on the clinical frequency of hereditary endometrial and prostate cancer were provided. In pancreatic cancer patients there was a 3.5% frequency of BRCA1 gene founder mutations.
