Maģistra darba mērķis ir, pamatojoties uz autores veiktā Starptautiskā pilsoniskās izglītības ICCS 2009 izmēģinājuma pētījuma rezultātiem un zinātniskās literatūras analīzē gūtajām atziņām, noskaidrot pilsoniskās kompetences veidošanos 8.klašu skolēniem. Darbā analizēti galvenie ar pilsonību un pilsonisko kompetenci saistītie jēdzieni, veikta kvantitatīvā datu statistiskā analīze, kuras rezultātā sniegta atbilde uz pētniecisko jautājumu – kas ietekmē pilsoniskās kompetences veidošanos pamatskolas vecuma skolēniem Latvijā? Salīdzinot ar iepriekšējiem pilsoniskās izglītības pētījumiem Latvijā, ir palielinājusies skolēnu izpratne par brīvību nepieciešamību un nozīmi demokrātiskā sabiedrībā. Tomēr skolēni līdz galam neizprot, kā demokrātiskās sistēmas piedāvātās brīvības un tiesības reāli pielietot ikdienas dzīvē. Pētījuma rezultāti rāda, ka Latvijas 8.klašu skolēni netiek pietiekami motivēti iegūt un nostiprināt pilsonisko kompetenci, taču tanī pašā laikā skolēnos ir vērojama tendence meklēt iespēju paust viedokli par sabiedriski politiskiem jautājumiem un tikt uzklausītiem. Lielāku interesi par sociālekonomiskajiem un politiskajiem procesiem izrāda Latvijas 8.klašu zēni, nevis meitenes. Tiesa, intereses izrādīšanas faktors nebūt neliecina par augstāku pilsoniskās kompetences līmeni zēnu vidū. Atslēgvārdi: pilsoniskā kompetence, pilsonība, demokrātija. ; The aim of this Master Degree Thesis is, on grounds of pilot research results from International Civic and Citizenship Education ICCS 2009 carried out by the author and of analysis of scientific literature, to find out development of civic competence in eight graders. Thesis contains analysis of main concepts linked to citizenship and civic competence, quantitative statistical data analysis that gives answer to the research question – what affects shaping of civic competence in primary school children in Latvia? The results of research show that eight graders are not motivated enough to obtain and secure civic competence, but at the same time it is tendency within students to look for opportunity to express their ideas about social political questions. More interest about social economical and political processes was found between boys rather than girls. However, the interest factor does not indicate higher civic competence level. The recent reforms in the Latvian general education curriculum along with a school network reorganization have brought new attention to the issues related to a teacher education and the level of professionalism in everyday teaching work. Soviet-era education and work experience in diverse political and education systems (under the Soviet rule and after the restoration of independence) are factors that should be taken into account when analyzing the teacher in the citizenship education learning process. For the needs of this Paper, the authors used the data of the IEA ICCS 2016 (International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement International Civic and Citizenship Study 2016) teachers who teach citizenship education-related school subjects (n=249) and their students (N=3224, Grade 8, average age from 13 to 14). To process the data, the authors usedclusters, correlations, regression analysis and descriptive statistics.The aim of this Paper is to study what the teacher is like in the process of citizenship education. The findings allow making two conclusions: First, the teacher's personality, experience and networking skills plays an important role; Second, the popular assumption among both professionals and nonprofessionals that cooperation between an eighth-grade teachers and parents leads to a better student achievements is false.
