Environmentální ekonomie a politika: hodnocení kurzu na VŠE v Praze ; Environmental Economics And Policy: Course Evaluation Survey
"environmentalistů" i "ne-environmentalistů" (či dokonce "anti- environmentalistů"). Dále studenti kladně hodnotili možnost aktivního zapojení do diskusí a prezentací během seminářů. Vyvážené rozložení přednášek a seminářů s dostatečným prostorem pro hlubší diskusi byly zřejmě klíčovými faktory pro udržení zájmu studentů. Data nám neposkytla dostatečné informace pro konstrukci regresních modelů s rozumnou predikční silou vzhledem k výsledkům zkoušky. Výzvou pro další výzkum tak zůstává zkvalitnění analýzy přístupů ke studiu (tzv. learning strategies). ; The main objective of this paper is to outline the educational aspects of environmental economics referring to an example of a course taught at The University of Economics, Prague.A quantitative survey among students was conducted to describe their perceptions of the environmental topics and the diverse components of the course. This learners' perspective is compared with students' examination results and their level of activity in seminars. One of the main questions asked in this text is: do students interested in economic policy and regional economics consider the environmental orientation of the course important? And if yes what aspects of the course do they value, what benefits do they get from the course, what are their learning strategies and what role does this play with regards to students' concern for environmental issues?Probably the most important finding of the research is the students' advocacy of environmental economics as a beneficial part of curriculum both by those clustered as 'environmentalists' and 'non-environmentalists' (or even 'anti-environmentalists'). Students appreciate having a chance to participate actively in the course. A well balanced proportion of lectures and seminars with enough space for deep discussion seem to be crucial for retaining students' interest. The data doesn't equip us with sufficient information to construct regression models with reasonable predictive power concerning exam results. A challenge for further research is to work with a better informed analysis of students' learning strategies.

Využívání výukových případových studií při výuce environmentální ekonomie a politiky ; Teaching Cases in Environmental Economics and Policy
; Teaching cases is quite well-known powerful educational tool, which belongs to modern methods of teaching and learning. They are distinguished from case studies used for research purposes.

Pobídky pro obnovitelné zdroje energie v České republice ; Incentives for renewable energy sources in the Czech Rebublic
; The paper starts with a brief overview of the technical and natural conditions of using renewable energy sources in the Czech Republic. Biomass, solar energy, water energy, wind energy and geothermal energy are introduced. Not all renewable sources mentioned above have the same potential for cost-effective exploitation in the Czech Republic.

Water Pollution Reduction: Reverse Combinatorial Auctions Modelling Supporting Decision-Making Processes
Part 3: Decision Support Tools and Systems ; International audience ; This paper presents a model that contributes to finding cost-effective solutions when making decisions about building wastewater treatment plants in the planning process defined in the Framework Directive 2000/60/EC of the European Parliament and of the European Council. The model is useful especially when construction and operation of joint wastewater treatment plants is possible for several (neighbouring) municipalities, where a huge number of theoretical coalitions is possible. The paper presents the model principles for one pollutant and for multiple pollutants, describes the CRAB software used for computing the optimal solutions and presents selected applications. It concludes that the computations can contribute directly to decision-making concerning environmental protection projects and also serve for calculating background models for economic laboratory experiments in the area.

Modelling of Environmental Risk Management under Information Asymmetry
Part 4: Environmental Applications in Risk and Crises Management ; International audience ; The Environmental risk management is an important component of governmental environmental policies. Alternative mechanisms for achieving cost-effective environmental risk reduction have been discussed in environmental economics. The paper presents a relatively new approach to environmental risk management – a model of negotiation between polluters and authorities under information asymmetry when also economic instruments are applied. A combinatory model that serves computing the first best solution was developed. The CRAB software (CombinatoRial Auction Body Software System) was used for this model. The computed first best solution was compared to the results of small economic laboratory experiments. Students played the role of the subjects in the experiments. The research concluded that under economic pressure in the form of known limitation of financial resources, the experiment results are closer to minimal financial supports. Even in a one-round game, a more cost-effective solution is achieved compared to experiments where such limitation was not introduced.
