The emergence of psychopathy as a well-established construct in the assessment of adult criminal offenders has stimulated great interest in measuring psychopathy traits in adolescents. The most useful role for a brief measure of psychopathy might be self-report questionnaire. On the other hand, screening for adolescent psychpathy traits is a particularly sensitive undertaking, because the label Psychopath can influence treatment plans and juvenile justice determinations. Therefore, this study assesses the validity of the Youth Psychopathic Traits Inventory (YPI), a self-reported measure of psychopathic traits in a Lithuanian offender population and in community-based adolescent sample. We assess the validity of the YPI by internal consistency analyses of scale and subscale item sets and the discriminant validity identifying psychopathic personality traits among incarcerated juveniles (N=207) compared with community – based population (N=276). Findings from this research suggested both strengths and weaknesses associated with YPI as a psychopathy assessment instrument in adolescent population ; Psichopatijos kaip gerai įtvirtinto konstrukto taikymas vertinant suaugusius nusikaltėlius, sukėlė didelį susidomėjimą ir paskatino bandyti diagnozuoti psichopatinius bruožus jau paauglystėje. Vienas iš tinkamiausių psichopatijos tyrimo būdų gali būti savistata paremtas klausimynas. Kita vertus, negalima pamiršti, kad asmenį įvardijus psichopatu, gali keistis intervencinių programų pobūdis, tai gali turėti įtakos priimant nuosprendį. Šiame tyrime siekiama nustatyti Jaunimo psichopatinių bruožų inventoriaus (YPI), Savistata paremto psichopatinių asmenybės bruožų klausimyno validumą jaunų Lietuvos teisės pažeidėjų ir bendrosios populiacijos jaunuolių grupėse. Validumas tikrinamas nustatant vidinį skalių suderinamumą ir diskriminantinį patikimumą, identifikuojant įkalintų teisės pažeidėjų psichopatinius asmenybės bruožus (N =207), lyginant juos su mokyklose besimokančiais paaugliais (N =276). Tyrimo rezultatai rodo YPI klausimyno lietuvių kalba pranašumus ir trūkumus, taikant šį klausimyną jaunų teisės pažeidėjų ir bendros populiacijos paauglių tyrimuose

The purpose of this study was to examine the links between relationships with parents, identity styles, and positive youth development (PYD), conceptualized as "contribution" to self, family, and community, in Lithuanian youth during the transition from adolescence to emerging adulthood. In Study I, we sought to examine how positive relationships with parents predict contribution with the potential mediating role of autonomy-supportive parenting. Participants ( N = 153) filled a self-reported questionnaire in the final year of school and 1 year later. In Study II, we aimed at investigating how parental autonomy support is related to the contribution and the potential mediating role of identity processing style. Participants ( N = 254) were assessed 1 year after graduating high school. Overall, the findings indicated that positive relationships with parents play an important role in successful adjustment and that this relationship is partially mediated by identity style. To conclude, the way in which parents respond to their children's need for autonomy and relatedness affects the adequate identity management and overall positive development during emerging adulthood.

This study investigates the relationship between youth prosocial orientation, and personality traits and personal values in a sample of Lithuanian adolescents, in order to assess differences in personality and personal values between those adolescents who are engaged in community and school life and those who are not. Mean age of participants was 18.20 (SD = 0.69), who were high school students (N = 490) from one administrative region. Participants completed a questionnaire assessing adolescent prosocial orientation, along with measures of personality traits (NEO-FFI) and personal values (PVQ). Cluster analysis based on adolescent participation in community and school life reported in the questionnaire identified 5 distinct groupings of adolescents: Very involved (who had high levels of involvement); Involved (who scored more than 0.5 SD above the average levels of organized activities); Average involvement (who scored on the average levels of all three forms of structured activities); adolescents with Some Involvement (who scored on the average levels on structured activities, but were very low on commitment to goals); and Uninvolved adolescents. Comparisons revealed several significant differences among the groups in terms of personality traits and values. Very involved and involved adolescents were characterized by more pronounced traits in extraversion, openness to experience and agreeableness, while conscientiousness was significantly higher only in the Very involved cluster. In adolescents who are more engaged in community and school life, we found higher levels of basic personal values, with the exception of hedonism. Results are discussed with regard to the role that personality traits and personal values may play in fostering the prosocial orientation of adolescents. ; Straipsnyje nagrinėjami vyresnio amžiaus paauglių asmenybės bruožų, vertybių ir prosocialios orientacijos ryšiai. Tyrime naudojami longitudinio tyrimo, kuriame analizuojama pozityvi jaunuolio raida, duomenys. Tiriamųjų imtį sudarė 18–19 metų paaugliai (N = 490). Prosocialiai paauglių orientacijai nustatyti buvo naudojami klausimynai, įsitraukimui į bendruomenės veiklą matuoti, klausimynai asmenybės bruožams – NEO - FFI (Costa and McCrae, 1992), asmenybės vertybėms – PVQ (Schwartz, 1992). Taikant klasterinę analizę, atsižvelgiant į prosocialią orientaciją, nustatytos 5 tiriamųjų grupės: labai aktyvūs, aktyvūs, vidutiniškai aktyvūs, šiek tiek aktyvūs bei neaktyvūs. Atlikus palyginimus buvo atskleista keletas reikšmingų skirtumų tarp grupių. Kalbant apie asmenybės bruožus ir vertybes labai aktyviems ir aktyviems paaugliams būdingi labiau išreikšti tokie asmenybės bruožai, kaip ekstraversija, patyrimo atvirumas ir sutariamumas. Reikšmingai aukštesnis sąmoningumo lygmuo buvo tik labai aktyvių paauglių. Atlikus tyrimą taip pat buvo atskleista, kad labiau prosocialiai orientuotų paauglių aukštesni asmenybės vertybių, išskyrus hedonizmą, įverčiai negu mažiau prosocialiai orientuotų paauglių. Rezultatai yra aptariami atsižvelgiant į asmenybės bruožų bei vertybių vaidmenį skatinant paauglių prosocialią orientaciją. Tyrimo rezultatai padeda suprasti, kaip asmenybės bruožai ir vertybės susiję su paauglių prosocialia orientacija.

The purpose of this study was to investigate possible relationships between parental rearing practices and problem behaviours in a sample of male delinquent adolescents versus controls. A total of 97 subjects and 113 matched school- children were assessed by means of the EMBU questionnaire and Youth Self-Report. Delinquents were more severely treated by parents and had more pronounced internalized and externalized problem scores. Furthermore, problem scores were found to be highly correlated with parental rejection and overprotection, when emotional warmth wasn't. We conclude, that parental rearing practices, such as rejection and overprotection may influence the development of problem behaviours. However, for control group negative association has been found for delinquency score with emotional warmth. Therefore, emotional warmth both from father and mother could be considered as protective factor in child development. The implications of these findings with regard to preventive measures are discussed. ; Šio tyrimo tikslas – nustatyti galimus tėvų auklėjimo stiliaus ir delinkventinių paauglių elgesio ryšius, lyginant juos su kontroline grupe. Delinkventiniu elgesiu pasižymintys 97 paaugliai iš nepilnamečių globos institucijų ir 113 kontrolinės grupės tiriamųjų buvo apklausti naudojant EMBU klausimyną ir Jaunuolio elgesio tyrimo klausimyną (YSR). Nustatyta, jog delinkventiniu elgesiu pasižyminčių paauglių tėvai dažniau taikė labai griežtus arba, priešingai, pernelyg lengvabūdiškus auklėjimo metodus. Šiems paaugliams būdingi statistiškai reikšmingai stipriau išreikšti eksternalūs ir internalūs elgesio sunkumai. Daroma išvada, jog tėvų auklėjimo metodai gali iš dalies lemti elgesio sunkumus. Išanalizavus visos imties duomenis paaiškėjo, jog elgesio sunkumai stipriai koreliavo su atstūmimu ir pernelyg didele globa, tuo tarpu emocinės šilumos ir elgesio sunkumų ryšių nerasta. Analizuojant atskirai delinkventų ir kontrolinės grupės duomenis nustatytas neigiamas kontrolinės grupės delinkvencijos įverčių ir tėvo bei motinos emocinės šilumos ryšys, todėl emocinė šiluma gali būti laikoma apsauginiu veiksniu asocialaus elgesio raidoje. Aptariama, kaip ši informacija galėtų būti pritaikyta kuriant intervencines ir prevencines programas.

The present study aims to verify how attachment to school and open classroom climate for discussion is related to adolescent' pro-social engagement. Participants were adolescents from Lithuania (N = 1741, 727 boys and 1014 girls, age 15-19 years). To measure school atmosphere we used the Attachment to school scale from School atmosphere questionnaire (Ruchkin, Schwab-Stone, & Vermeiren, 2004) and Open classroom climate for discussion scale (Torney-Purta, et al., 2001). To measure prosocial engagement we used the School activity scale (Noack, 2003), Voluntary activity scale, and Future social activity scale (both constructed for this longitudinal study by the authors of this paper). The cluster analyses procedure using a modified LICUR procedure from the statistical package SLEIPNER (Bergman, Magnusson, & El Khouri, 2003) revealed five different groups of adolescents according to their perceived attachment to school and open classroom climate for discussion. MANOVA results revealed that those five groups differ in school activity, volunteering, and future social participation. ; Šio tyrimo tikslas buvo nustatyti, kaip prieraišumas mokyklai ir atviras klimatas diskusijoms klasėje yra susiję su prosocialiu įsitraukimu paauglystėje. Tiriamieji buvo Klaipėdos regiono vyresniųjų klasių moksleiviai (N = 1741; 727 vaikinai ir 1014 merginos, kurių amžius – 15–19 metų). Mokyklos atmosferai matuoti naudojome Prieraišumo mokyklai skalę iš Mokyklos atmosferos klausimyno (Ruchkin, Schwab-Stone, ir Vermeiren, 2004) ir Atviro klimato diskusijoms klasėje skalę (Torney-Purta, ir kt., 2001). Prosocialaus įsitraukimo konstruktui matuoti naudojome Aktyvumo mokykloje (Noack, 2003), Savanoriškos veiklos ir Numatomos socialinės veiklos ateityje skales (abi pastarosios skalės šiai longitudinei studijai buvo sukurtos straipsnio autorių). Klasterinė analizė atlikta, taikant modifikuotą LICUR procedūrą iš statistinio paketo SLEIPNER (Bergman, Magnusson, ir El Khouri, 2003). Klasterine analize atskleista, kad visi paaugliai patenka į penkis mokyklos aplinkos klasterius pagal suvokiamo prieraišumo ir atviro klimato diskusijoms klasėje įverčius. Šie klasteriai buvo pavadinti: "Vidutinis", "Negatyvus", "Pozityvus diskusijų", "Pozityvus prieraišumo" ir "Ne diskusijų". Atlikus dvifaktorinę dispersinę analizę, paaiškėjo, kad šios grupės skiriasi pagal jų aktyvios veiklos mokykloje, savanoriškos veiklos ir numatomos socialinės veiklos ateityje įverčių vidurkius. Lytis taip pat buvo reikšmingas faktorius dviems iš trijų prosocialaus įsitraukimo komponentų: aktyvumui mokykloje ir numatomam socialiniam aktyvumui ateityje.

Becoming financially independent requires financial capabilities, such as capacities to control spending, and prior research suggests that identity may play a role in developing such capacities. This cross-sectional study sought to investigate how identity formation is related to spending self-control through the mediating role of self-regulatory identity functions. Participants were 481 Lithuanian students (40% employed; 57.8% women; M age = 20.27, SD age = 1.39). Results revealed that general domain identity processes affected financial capabilities both directly and indirectly (through the mediation of identity functions). Specifically, the findings highlighted that (a) ruminative exploration may make individuals more vulnerable to impulsive buying, whereas exploration in depth can promote controlled spending (direct effects) and (b) exploration in breadth and identification with commitment may promote spending self-control by strengthening goal-setting capacities (indirect effects). In synthesis, this study contributes to the understanding of favorable and unfavorable implications of identity formation on financial capabilities in emerging adulthood.

The relationships between woman's subjective well-being (SWB), personality traits and sociodemographic factors were explored in the resent study. A sample of Lithuanian women (N=308), age range from 40 to 46, (M=42,4) participated in this study. The results indicate that comparing women in educational level and personal income, large differences were found between categories in these variables. An examination of the joint contribution to explain life satisfaction by the different social demographic variables indicated that the strongest predictors for women's SWB were education and income. The results indicated that married/cohabiting women are indeed more satisfied with their lives than non-married persons. Marital status was even stronger predictor of SWB for participants when considered jointly with other factors. One unexpected finding is that high education and high income became almost non-significant predictors of life satisfaction in our sample when personality variables were added as predictors. Subjective health and especially satisfaction with leisure emerged as important determinants of SWB. However, when personality variables were entered, subjective health became weak predictor of SWB. Overall, our findings indicate that there are substantial SWB mean level differences in relation to social demographic variables. ; Tyrimas skirtas moterų subjektyvios gerovės ir socialinių demografinių veiksnių ryšiui nustatyti. Tyrime dalyvavo 308 Lietuvos moterys, kurių amžiaus ribos svyravo nuo 40 iki 46 metų. Vidutinis tiriamųjų amžius – 42,4 metų. Nustatyta, kad moterų subjektyvi gerovė susijusi su socialiniais demografiniais veiksniais. Tyrimo rezultatai taip pat parodė, kad didžiausi buvo moterų rasti išsilavinimo lygio ir asmeninių pajamų skirtumai. Stipriausi moterų subjektyvios gerovės prognostiniai kintamieji buvo išsilavinimas ir pajamos. Ištekėjusios arba turinčios partnerį moterys buvo labiau patenkintos gyvenimu negu netekėjusios moterys. Vedybinis statusas buvo stipresnis subjektyvios gerovės prognostinis rodiklis, kai buvo vertinamas kartu su kitais veiksniais. Netikėtas atradimas buvo tai, kad aukštas išsilavinimo lygis ir didelės pajamos nebuvo subjektyvios gerovės prognostiniai rodikliai, kai buvo vertinami kartu su asmenybiniais veiksniais. Subjektyviai įvertinta sveikata ir pasitenkinimas laisvalaikiu pasirodė esą svarbūs subjektyvios moterų gerovės veiksniai, tačiau jų reikšmingumas sumažėjo juos vertinant kartu su asmenybiniais veiksniais.

A substantial body of research provides evidence for the role of parents in transferring pro-environmental attitudes, values, and behaviors to their children. However, little research has focused on children's active attempts to influence parents' pro-environmental behavior. In a survey involving 508 Lithuanian families, we examined the bidirectional influences of parents' and adolescents' information-induced proenvironmental intentions and behavior. Three plastic waste-related consumption behaviors were studied: purchasing bottled water, using reusable shopping bags, and recycling non-refundable plastic. Results show that both adolescents and their parents influence each other's proenvironmental intentions and behaviors, suggesting that not only parents but also adolescents, may be important agents of positive changes in families and society.
