THE ROLE OF THE COUNCIL OF JUDGES OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION AS A PROFESSIONAL COMMUNITY IN THE PROCESS OF IMPROVING THE MANAGEMENT OF THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM

The article is devoted to the sociological analysis of the professional community of the Russian judicial corps. The main periods of activity of the Council of Judges of the Russian Federation, an institution that transformed the cadre of judges into a professional corporation, are highlighted. The practices of professionalization of the judiciary from the late 1980s to the present period are characterized from the perspective of socio-political changes and the country's transition to a new statehood. The measures taken by the Council of Judges of the Russian Federation during the thirty years of its existence to improve the management of the judicial system, preserve a unified legal field, ensure social order and stability of statehood are analyzed. The prospects for the development of the judicial professional community are out-lined, as well as the main vectors of further work of the Council of Judges in the light of current changes in the domestic and international agenda.
