Habro I. V., Shevchuk O. V. EU environmental diplomacy tools. – Article.The article considers the key tools of environmental diplomacy of the European Union. The main administrative instruments of European environmental policy are analyzed – such normative acts and documentsas conventions and directives, as well as regulations (Council Directive 85/337 / EEC of 27 June 1985 on theassessment of the effects of certain public and private projects on the environment). 1210/90 of 7 May 1990on the establishment of the European Environment Agency and the European Environment Information andObservation Network).The flexible market mechanisms of EU environmental diplomacy that are effective for application in allpriority areas of environmental policy are highlighted: in combating climate change and preserving biodi versity, protecting the environment and human health, ensuring sustainable use of natural resources. It wasemphasized that the current bilateral and multilateral negotiations on the liberalization of trade in clean goodsand services are also being used by the EU to promote global measures to mitigate climate change and createbusiness opportunities for European companies. Modern market instruments of EU environmental diplomacy also include environmental taxes introduced to change prices and thus consumer and producer policies;environmental contributions introduced to fully or partially cover the costs of environmental services, measures to reduce pollution of water resources, waste disposal; environmental subsidies and benefits designedto stimulate the development of new technologies, the creation of new markets for environmental goods andservices, and to support the achievement of high levels of environmental protection by companies; liabilityand compensation schemes.The EU uses its complementary foreign policy instruments, including political dialogue, international negotiations and financial instruments, to promote the sustainable development and climate change agenda andpromote its implementation in partner ...
