INFORMATION WARFARE IN THE POLITICAL STRUGGLE IN SOUTH AFRICA (1948 – early 1990's) ;
The article discusses the political process in South Africa during the existence of the apartheid system in this country. The aim of the study is to research the main directions of information warfare between supporters and opponents of apartheid as a component of the latent policy in South Africa. The principal tasks are: general description and designation of specific features of the information confrontation main directions, disclosure of individual elements of information struggle under the apartheid conditions. Currently, this topic is only partially covered in the scientific literature: in the format of the general characteristics of informational and psychological wars (V. Krysko, G. Pocheptsov, S. Rastorguev, V. Hozikov), in certain areas of the information struggle in South Africa during the apartheid period (Ch. Day, R. Nixon, M. Rees, E. Rhoodie, J. Sanders) and a description of some operations in the South African information sphere (V. Shubin, C. Braam, B. Gilder, R. Kasrils, M. Kunczik). The main idea of the article is that the informational confrontation was an important component of the political life of South Africa and had a vector of both internal focus – on the population of a given country, and the external one – on the world community, international organizations, governments and the population of other states. It had a serious impact on the course of events in South Africa and on the anti-apartheid movement beyond its borders, including almost the whole range of anthropogenic and man-made technologies, latent and open. The informational activity of the African National Congress (ANC), the leader of the anti-apartheid movement, were a specific continuation of military-sabotage operations and protest actions of the oppressed population in the struggle for the political consciousness of the masses. The topic was developed on the basis of concrete examples, historical facts, scientific studies of foreign experts and evidence of resistance movement participants. In the perspective this work may be an integral part of a further comprehensive study of the entire latent policy spectrum based on South African materials.
