GENERATIONAL RECEPTION OF MEMORY IN THE POST-1990 LITERATURE ;
The article draws attention to the generational reception of the Ukrainian post-totalitarian reality, which was refl ected in the literary writings after 1990s. The research problematizes the peculiarities of the hero's consciousness, who had faced a lot of diffi culties after the Soviet Union collapse. The cultural priorities and national identity are specifi cally addressed. The approach to such research is closely connected with the analysis of generational activity. This article focuses on the literary refl ection that exhibits the perception of post-soviet realities in Ukraine by the generation, representatives of which were born in 1960s and 1970s. They try to discover the national memory, killed by the totalitarian power, as well as to open new ways of development of their own identity. Different (sometimes even opposing) reception of cultural, political and social changes by the representatives of separate age groups created a discourse of new problems which were very important for post-totalitarian society. These newly set issues concerned the reconstruction of independent culture, consciousness and, of course, identity. It has been recognized that today it is topical to process the representation of the past from the point of view of the youngest generation. The matter is that these people have all possibilities to compare totalitarian ideology and post-totalitarian memory, which tries to reveal the mechanism of creation a culture without past. The peculiarities of the discussed period show that it is a time of blending few physical and mental generations. For example, the present literature «hosts» the writings of the oldest writers who still live with the traumatic experience of their past life, and the middle-aged authors who were brought up in circumstances of cultural and intellectual crisis. On top of this, parents' trauma had also infl uenced their behavior in the future. Together with these two generations, we cannot forget about the youngest artists who gained their experience here and now – in the space of information progress and in the world that is losing its cultural borders. This is a generation of a new nomadism. The research of such problem is based on the most popular contemporary novels. Main attention is paid to studying the specifi city of the artistic generational consciousness, and the so-called generational gap which happened after total deconstruction of the history, and generally after the next change in understanding the art and culture. Keywords: generation, memory, post-totalitarian studies, totalitarianism, identity.
