The concept of smart cities involves specifically modified infrastructure for its physical, economic and social systems which is mandatory to provide improved facilities to citizens at various levels. The major infrastructure is energy which is mainly distributed in the form of Electricity. Therefore power system operation must be optimized by making it intelligent and environmental friendly by including renewable resources and green ICT systems to achieve greater energy efficiency. In the Europe, the EU has taken an initiative by launching a concrete policy framework to make their cities capable of more energy efficient, reduction of relying on fossil fuels achieving reduction Carbon Dioxide emissions, improved impact by adding renewable energy resources to power grid. The implementation of this significant policy framework would also result in climate improvement. The EU is targeting year 2020 to accomplish such implementations. There are several ways to ensure sustainability but the addition of renewable energy resources with existing grid capacity in an intelligent manner can be an effective solution. In such addition, an optimal generation policy may be developed incorporating power flow model, contingency analysis and determination of good locations. Such generation policy can be implemented using a High Scale SCADA System. In general, the SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) based RTUs (Remote Terminal Units) are essential part of SCADA system so an optimal design of RTU for Energy Management System (EMS) is of high interest. According to the literature of energy-growth-environment, a numeral of studies aims to recognize the factors of CO2 (carbon dioxide) emissions resulting from significant increases in CO2 emissions in recent decades. The selection of data is the main criticism connected to the present literature. Most of the studies used the overall consumption of energy, and other criticism concerns selecting panel assessment techniques. Nearly all the previous research used general panel approaches that overlooked long term dependence. This empirical study fills the gap revealed in the past studies of the effect of trade openness, income, non-renewable and renewable energy on carbon emissions in the presence of EKC (Kuznets environmental curve) for the ASEAN economies from the time spam 2000 to 2018 using panel ARDL, Pooled Mean Group (PMG) estimation techniques. The results of the PMG estimator confirm the presence of the EKC hypothesis in selected ASEAN countries. Furthermore, Trade and renewable energy minimize carbon dioxide emissions, whereas non-renewable upsurges CO2 emissions. The outcomes also revealed cointegration amongst carbon emissions and renewable energy and one-way causation found from income to CO2 productions, non-renewable energy to carbon emissions, and trade openness toward carbon dioxide emissions. Moreover, it concluded that ASEAN states that the government should advise the industries and all sectors to modify their energy sources from non-renewable energy sources to renewable energy sources. Because it helps to increase the level of energy and economic growth in reducing the carbon emission level.

Higher education is considered to be the lifeline of the development of any nation. These institutions are not only engaged in disseminating knowledge but are also engaged in shaping human capital for todays knowledge-based economy. These higher learning institutions need to focus on their effectiveness if they want to be learning organizations. The present study focuses on organizational learning for attaining effectiveness. The sample of the study consists of 350 academic staff members of public sector HEIs belonging to Khyber Pakhtunkhawa province of Pakistan. Multiple regression analysis was performed on the data set. The overall results showed a significant direct effect of organizational learning upon organizational effectiveness. The results are significant for the top management.

For the past few years, the government of Pakistan has increased its domestic borrowing to a record level. This increased government borrowing could have reduced funds for investment by the non-financial corporate sector. In this study, we empirically investigate the influence of state domestic debt on corporate leverage in Pakistan. This study examines data of 07 non-financial sectors listed at PSX for a period of 2009-2018. The firm-level panel data was analyzed through the fixed-effect method. Results reveal that government domestic borrowings have a negative influence on corporate borrowings. Commercial banks in Pakistan have heavily invested in government debt securities which are the substitute for corporate debts due to the high rate of return and low risk of default. This study recommends that the government of Pakistan should strengthen the Fiscal Responsibility & Debt Limitation Act 2005 to safeguard against the adverse effects of govt. internal borrowing on the financing of the corporate sector. Further, the government should prepare effective fiscal and monetary policies to promote the growth of the corporate sector.

European Union passed a resolution in 2002, which bound all the listed companies and firms and required the consolidated and simple accounts to use Financial Reporting Standards starting from January 2005. It will improve firm performance and will have an influence on the information environment for the listed firms. This study provides empirical and theoretical literature regarding the adoption of IFRS, accounting Conservatism and firm performance. This paper provides different theories that discuss the impact of IFRS and accounting conservatism on a firm performance that includes positive accounting theory, modernization theory, contingency theory, and world system theory.

Purpose
This paper aims to assess the impact of big data analytics capabilities (BDAC) on organizational innovation performance through process-oriented dynamic capabilities (PODC), as a mediator, as well as the moderating roles of organizational culture (OC) and management accountants, in this artificial intelligence (AI) era. This paper also aims to provide information on the emerging trends and implications of the abovementioned relationships by focusing on these relationships and interactions.


Design/methodology/approach
This exploratory study used the close-ended questionnaire approach based on the resource-based view and socio-materiality theories. This included sending questionnaires to top-level management, including Chief Financial Officer/Chief Executive Officers/Chief Information Officers (CFO/CEOs/CIOs), having an in-depth understanding of the concepts, practical applications and usage of big data as well as BDAC.181 valid questionnaire-based responses were analyzed using the partial least square structural equation modelling technique and bootstrapping moderated mediation method.


Findings
This study provides empirical insights into how BDAC impact innovative performance through PODC as well as the moderating effects of OC and management accountants. This involves a shift in focus from almost standardized approaches to developing BDAC without contextual focus on approaches that are much more heterogeneously related to each organization and hence are more focused on the context of the pharmaceutical industry.


Research limitations/implications
The main aim of key research questions in this study is to increase the contributions of BDAC toward improving innovation performance in the presence of the abovementioned variables and relationships that exist between them. The chosen research approach can be improved by carrying out interviews with the top management to obtain more relevant and detailed information for developing a better understanding of the abovementioned relationships.


Practical implications
This study outlines how organizations that are developing BDAC approaches can focus on relevant factors and variables to help their initiatives and its role in organizational innovative performance. This will also help them develop sustainable competitive advantage in manufacturing concerns, specifically in the health industry, namely, the pharmaceutical industry.


Originality/value
This study investigated the effects and implications of big data on organizations in the AI era that aim to achieve innovation performance. At the same time, it provides an original understanding of the contextual importance of investing in BDAC development. It also considers the role of management accountants as a bridge between data scientists and business managers in a big data environment, especially in the pharmaceutical industry. The current study used first-time data from surveys involving CFOs, CEOs or CIOs of pharmaceutical companies in Pakistan and analyzed the proposed model using bootstrapping moderated mediation analysis.
