Aus islamischer Sicht

Die Wurzeln des Nord-Süd Konfliktes im Sudan legt der Autor in die englische Islam-Eindämmungspolitik der 30er Jahre. Historiographisch werden die Paradigmenwechsel im Süd-Nord/Nord-Süd Verhältnis analysiert (bis 1983), um die Vielschichtigkeit der Polarisierung zu verdeutlichen. Die Scharia als hauptsächlicher Konflikt- und Bürgerkriegsauslöser verdeckt nach Meinung des Autors die Tiefe des Problems völlig unterschiedlicher Gesellschaftsformen. Mit Hinweis auf die Sezessionsbestrebungen in Jugoslawien und der UdSSR bezweifelt der Autor die langfristige Existenz des Sudan als Nationalstaat in den gegenwärtigen Grenzen. (DÜI-Sth)
