The present work aimed to investigate the effect of a newly proposed mixture of quinoa seeds and tiger nuts (QTM) (1:1) on low-fat beef patties. The chemical composition, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidant activity of QTM were determined. The chemical composition, water-holding capacity, cooking loss, and sensory evaluation of low-fat beef patties prepared with 10% QTM as a partial fat replacer were also studied. Microbiological quality of frozen minced meat semi-finished products (burger patties, at -18°C) for 126 days was also determined. Based on the results, QTM contained 14.35% lipid, 9.37% protein, and 11.38% dietary fibre. Moreover, QTM also contained good amount of minerals and vitamins. The antioxidant activity of QTM was 20.41 mg/g. Results also showed that the addition of QTM had a positive effect on the sensorial quality of beef patties. Chemical composition, water-holding capacity, cooking loss, and pH profiles of newly formulated burger patties significantly improved following the addition of 10% QTM as a partial fat replacer. During the storage of semi-finished products, thiobarbituric values showed that the newly formulated beef patties had a lower level of lipid oxidation as compared to control. With lower microbial loads and lipid oxidation, the shelf life of the newly formulated beef patties also significantly increased as compared to control. As the conclusion, QTM could be applied as a functional component in meat products.

Background: Diabetes mellitus and depression are serious common diseases, and the number of people with both conditions is rising steadily. Depression in people with diabetes mellitus results in poorer prognosis through different mechanisms. On the other hand, the presence of diabetes in individuals with depression increases functional impairment that is associated with depression. Aims: The study aimed to assess the prevalence and factors associated with depression among adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus attending a diabetes clinic in Cairo, Egypt. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among adult patients with diabetes type 2 attending a diabetes clinic in the endocrinology department in Ain Shams University Teaching Hospital, Cairo, Egypt. Data were collected through face-to-face interviews by trained psychiatrists and from patients' records. Results: The prevalence of depression among diabetic patients was 21.8% (95% CI [15.6%, 29.1%]). Depression was more common among younger age groups and those with a higher level of education. There was no significant difference between those with lifetime depression compared to those without depression regarding physical health complications. Conclusions: The prevalence of depression among patients with type 2 diabetes is high. Given the impact of co-morbid diabetes and depression, diabetic patients should be routinely screened for the latter condition.

La publicación de la legislación española sobre normas de calidad que regula los productos cárnicos de cerdos ibéricos ha supuesto la certificación obligatoria del sistema de producción, piensos y raza en el sector porcino. El estándar está diseñado para garantizar la calidad del producto final, evitando los fraudes que pueden haberse producido anteriormente, aprovechando la heterogeneidad del producto. Tradicionalmente, las etiquetas de Denominación de Origen Protegida ofrecían la garantía y seguridad del consumidor, pero esta función ha sido asumida en gran medida por los Estándares de Calidad. En este contexto, es necesario estudiar el conocimiento de los consumidores y la valoración de estos dos indicadores de calidad. Se ha observado que, aunque los DOP son más conocidos que los estándares de calidad, los consumidores están dispuestos a pagar solo una pequeña prima por los productos ibéricos con un DOP. Por lo tanto, las PDO deben reorientarse para proporcionar un valor agregado al producto. ; The publication of the Spanish Quality Standards legislation regulating meat products from Iberian pigs has meant the obligatory certification of the system of production, feed, and breed in the Iberian pig sector. The Standard is designed to ensure the quality of the final product, avoiding the frauds that may have occurred previously taking advantage of the heterogeneity of the product. Traditionally, the Protected Designation of Origin labels offered the consumer guarantee and security, but this role has largely been taken over by the Quality Standards. In this context, there is a need to study consumers' knowledge and valuation of these two quality indicators. It has been observed that, although PDOs are better known than the Quality Standards, consumers are willing to pay only a small premium for Iberian products with a PDO. A contemporary knowledge of root canal treatment (RCT) is a prerequisite for a successful outcome. Studies observed that General Dental Practitioners (GDPs) were not abreast of current endodontic knowledge due to a lack of continuing dental education, not following the treatment protocols that they had learned in their undergraduate program, and overlooking the evidence-based current endodontic practices. Therefore, this study was intended to assess the awareness, attitude, and clinical endodontic practices among General Dental Practitioners in Saudi Arabia. This cross-sectional questionnaire-based study was conducted among all 312 GDPs working in Saudi Arabia. The questionnaire consisted of socio-demographic details and 23 questions regarding current endodontic practices. The collected data was analyzed using the SPSS Version 21 (Chicago, IL, USA). The chi-square test was applied to explore the influence of gender, workplace, and the years of professional activity on the materials and techniques employed in the RCT procedure. The study results showed that of all respondents, 159 (51.0%) were males, 153 (49.0%) were females, and 286 (91.7%) were Saudi nationals. Most of the GDPs, i.e., 204 (65.4%) practiced in private hospitals or clinics whereas 108 (34.6%) practiced in Government hospitals. Root canal treatment on all teeth had been performed by 196 (62%) of the practitioners. Association of gender with demographic details and endodontic practices revealed a statistically significant difference between both genders with respect to region, nationality, type of RCT treated on the tooth, and the technique used to measure the working length (p < 0.05). Furthermore, years of professional experience and workplace significantly affect endodontic practices (p < 0.05). This study concluded that most of the general dental practitioners complied with quality standard guidelines showing a positive attitude toward endodontic practices. Abstract
We aimed to find a correlation between the intraoperative diameters of the seminiferous tubules evaluated at high magnification during micro-testicular sperm extraction (micro-TESE) and total motile sperm count (TMSC) in non-obstructive azoospermic (NOA) patients. Five hundred four consecutive NOA patients were included and underwent micro-TESE. The change in the mean TMSC and different seminiferous tubular diameters was of high statistical significance (p < 0.001). It should be noted that the highest mean TMSC was reported in the dilated tubules (DTs) group followed by the other study groups 941.72 ± 196.97, 487.37 ± 443.57, and 34.54 ± 60.79, respectively. Furthermore, 21 naïve cases had dilated tubules (DTs) and 18 (85.7%) of them had shown eventful micro-TESE. Conversely, 186 naïve cases had slightly dilated tubules (SDTs), and 101 (54.3%) of them had eventful micro-TESE. Only 8 (24.25%) cases of the 33 cases had non dilated tubules (NDTs) and showed eventful micro-TESE. The frequency of intrasurgical seminiferous tubular diameter and micro-TESE outcome among the naïve cases had demonstrated a highly statistical significance (p < 0.001). Interestingly, all salvaged cases (100%) with DTs and a previous eventful TESE had shown eventful TESE in the current study. The most dilated intrasurgical seminiferous tubular diameter is associated with the highest TMSC in NOA patients including SCO cases.

The purpose of this study is to lay its prime focus on the support for creativity that defines the self-analysis of creative capabilities and potential among men and women. Benefitting from the cross-level interactionist perspective, social role theory, and role congruity theory, this research developed an integrated multilevel model to examine gender differences in risk-taking behavior and determine how the contextual factor of support for creativity shapes employees' risk-taking and influences their creativity performance. Data for this study were collected from 347 employees and their respective 98 supervisors of a pharmaceutical company in Jakarta, Indonesia. The proposed cross-level moderated mediation model was tested using data obtained at two points in time from two data sources (subordinates and supervisors) working at a pharmaceutical company. The obtained data were then analyzed with Mplus. Our findings indicate that women may have lower risk-taking than men in organizational contexts. However, support for creativity restores parity between men and women through cross-level moderated mediation, such that support for creativity has a stronger effect on women's risk-taking than that of men, resulting in increased creative performance for women. Research contributions and future research directions are also discussed in the relevant sections.
