AbstractThis study aims to examine the use of English loanwords inflected with Arabic morphemes by young people in Amman, Jordan. It adopts a quantitative corpus-based approach supported by qualitative data. We collected data from young Facebook male and female users who come from families with different socio-economic status, and we conducted semi-structured interviews with 60 students at the University of Jordan to get more insight into the attitudes of young individuals in Jordan who use these English loanwords, and to account for the reasons that drive these individuals to use them. Data analysis shows that the participants' gender and socioeconomic status are major factors that affect the use of these loanwords. Data analysis also reveals that these English loanwords could be used as a form of slang by a certain group of young individuals in Amman to claim a specific social identity and an in-group membership that distinguishes them from another group of young individuals who do not use these words. We argued that a number of symbolic values could be attached to the use of English loanwords inflected with Arabic morphemes by that group and analysed the reasons behind such linguistic behaviour.

This study aimed to identify the advantages and disadvantages of using artificial intelligence in education from the perspective of the students of Al Ain University. The researcher used the descriptive approach due to its compatibility to the study objectives. The study sample consisted of (184) students from Al Ain University in Al Ain City, who were selected using the random stratified sampling method. The questionnaire was developed and distributed by using Google Drive software. The results showed that most students think that artificial intelligence can improve learning personal experiences, process a considerable amount of data and improve task management. However, there have been different opinions about the ability of artificial intelligence to control students' behavior and direct learning, improve the efficiency of educational system, provide notes and reviews, reduce dependency on teachers, and enhance social interaction. Furthermore, several students expressed their concerns about the possible missing of traditional educational jobs, the costs of implementing artificial intelligence systems, the errors of programming and error-processing, and missing the human relationships in the classroom.

Sexual harassment, common in workplaces and in public, gives rise to psychological, social, and economic distress to victims, their families and society. The UAE legislator has criminalized this phenomenon in Article 413 of the Federal Penal Law (No. 31 of 2021). In France, the Sexual Harassment Law, first developed in 1992, focused on quid pro quo harassment. To gain familiarity with UAE and French laws regarding sexual harassment, this article elaborates on the concept, the basic elements of sexual harassment and the penalties stipulated for it. The article concludes with results and recommendations, most importantly that the UAE legislature should amend Article 359 by criminalizing harassment through information technology. It also describes that, according to the French law, sexual harassment is subjecting a person, repetitively to words and behaviours that humiliate and violate his dignity and character. This article recommends imposing more stringent punishments and penalties on those committing sexual harassment.
