Signe de rupture considérable dans l'espace littéraire maghrébin, l'œuvre de Rachid Mimouni, en particulier sa trilogie ( Le Fleuve détourné, Tombéza et L'Honneur de la tribu), a dès le début des années quatre–vingts, en introduisant toutes les formes du transgressif dans le tissu textuel, non seulement mis en relief l'ensemble des questions interdites dans l'espace public (sexualité, inceste, religion, politique, etc.), mais également ébranlé les codes culturels en vigueur dans la société algérienne, et les assises idéologiques et politiques du récit national sur lesquelles reposait le système du parti unique. Using translog cost function approach, the paper estimates important industrial policy parameters pertaining to the manufacturing industries of Bangladesh from 1969/70 to 1978/79. It is concluded that a model hypothesising non-unitary elasticity of substitution and non-constant return to scale is appropriate in the case of the country's manufacturing industries. This study attempts to measure and analyse the importance of deficit finance in the economic development of the Sudan during the period 1960–9, mainly covered by the Ten-Year Plan of Economic and Social Development, 1961/2 to 1970/1, not implemented beyond 1969. In the light of these findings I shall also review the implications for the success of the present Five-Year Plan, 1970/1 to 1974/5, but since I am basically concerned with the rôle of deficit finance, I shall not attempt to appraise the overall national economic policies and trends, although these significant variables obviously affect each other.
