En el presente artículo se estudia el principio de igualdad de retribución enla Unión Europea consagrado desde los Tratados de Roma de 1957 hastael actual Tratado de Lisboa de 2007. El ordenamiento jurídico de la UniónEuropea ha estado legislando en este tema, por lo que se analiza la Directiva2006/54/ec, el Reglamento (ce) número 1922/2006, así como las sentenciasdel Tribunal de Justicia de la Unión Europea. Se ofrece una breve reseña históricade los instrumentos internacionales que sirvieron de base para lograrun avance en la lucha por la equidad de género. Se muestra y se explica pormedio de estadísticas con información de la base de datos de Eurostat 2012-2015 la inmensa brecha salarial entre hombres y mujeres en la Unión Europea(oscilando de 2.9 a 29.9% en 2012 y de 5.5 a 26.9% en 2015). Finalmente sellega a la conclusión de que existe una imperiosa necesidad de implementarel corpus iuris en esta materia y se exhorta a continuar en la lucha por la equidadde género y por hacer valer el principio de la igualdad de retribución enla Unión Europea.

This book analyses the importance of maize worldwide and the special importance for Mexico as a centre of origin and diversity (COD). By adopting a comparative approach, the analysis focuses on how developed and developing countries handle imports of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO's). It also analyses the impact that GM maize imports from the USA may have in Mexico as COD of maize. This book illustrates the process of economic liberalization in Mexico from the 1980's until the inception of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in 1994. It provides a descriptive and analytical insight into the Mexican legal framework of biotechnology and biosafety. Finally, it outlines the problems of complying with both environmental, and trade commitments.
