In the United States, undocumented students must navigate complex sociopolitical realities to access and succeed in higher education. These complex sociopolitical realities are shaped by federal policies on education and immigration, state-specific legislation on education and public policy, as well as general attitudes regarding race, immigration, and nationalism in the U.S. In this manuscript, I weave in counter-storytelling to document some of the ways one undocumented student accessed and navigated U.S. higher education. I begin by reviewing the national and state policy contexts that affect undocumented students in the U.S. I focus a state policy analysis in Utah, as one example of how national and state policies interact and sometimes contradict one another to impact the ways in which undocumented students navigate higher education. Second, I analyze the existing literature on the barriers undocumented students face in higher education, as well as the emerging literature on undocumented student support services in higher education. Third, I present current higher education programs in U.S. colleges and universities that consider sociopolitical contexts and respond to the particular needs of undocumented students. Finally, I draw implications for improved practice in undocumented student services in higher education.

This work deals with the relation between Theology and Politics from the historical and genealogical reconstruction of the Theory of the Modern State made by Carl Schmitt according to the conceptual pairs Theism-Absolutism, Deism-Liberalism and Atheism-Anarchism. In this sense, the proposal will consist of thinking a marginal alternative to these basic theopolitical modalities: a resistance attitude against the established order which corresponds to Messianism from a juridical-political point of view. ; El presente artículo trata de las relaciones entre teología y política a partir de la reconstrucción histórico-genealógica que de la moderna teoría del Estado llevara a cabo Carl Schmitt conforme a los pares conceptuales teísmo-absolutismo, deísmo-liberalismo y ateísmo-anarquismo. En este sentido, la propuesta consistirá en repensar una alternativa marginal con respecto a estas modalidades teológico-políticas fundamentales: el mesianismo y la actitud de resistencia frente al orden establecido que le corresponde desde un punto de vista estrictamente jurídico-político.

Jacques Derrida's interest in the question of justice indicates an attempt to deconstruct the theological determination of politics, the very core of Carl Schmitt's doctrine of sovereignty. The objective of this article is to show how the messianic without messianism in which the aforementioned deconstruction results, points to an idea of resistance _ epistemic, historical and political- intimately related to Apostle Paul from Tarsus' message and missionary activity. ; El interés de Jacques Derrida por el problema de la justicia significa un intento por deconstuir la determinación teológica de la política, auténtico núcleo de la doctrina de la soberanía elaborada por Carl Schmitt. Minimal Flavour Violation can be realised in several ways in the lepton sector due to the possibility of Majorana neutrino mass terms. We derive the scalar potential for the fields whose background values are the Yukawa couplings, for the simplest See-Saw model with just two right-handed neutrinos, and explore its minima. The Majorana character plays a distinctive role: the minimum of the potential allows for large mixing angles — in contrast to the simplest quark case — and predicts a maximal Majorana phase. This points in turn to a strong correlation between neutrino mass hierarchy and mixing pattern ; R. Alonso and M.B. In the last decades, together with the technological advances, the exploration of closer celestial bodies has experimented a high increasing, with a special relevance of the missions whose objective is the scientific search of life precursors. Since the birth of COSPAR (Committee on space research) in 1964, many advances have been achieved in terms of Planetary Protection, to avoid introducing terrestrial contamination in other systems, and/or come back with extraterrestrial contaminations in sample return missions. Many restrictive protocols are adopted by space missions to minimize the bacteriological, molecular and particle contaminations, and especially harder in scientific missions, where the risk of a false positive in an analysis due to terrestrial contamination is critical. These missions search for small quantities of organic material, and any trace of simple signals of C–H, C–O, C–C, C–N, etc. bonds are the target. Many of these signals are present in all the polymeric components used in a space vehicle, and any accidental or natural contamination could lead to a false positive detection of precursors of life. In this work, a new protected technology to avoid any doubt in these cases is proposed: the systematic isotopic marking of polymeric materials used in space missions. As proof of concept, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) polymers, with the same characteristics of the one used in the calibration target for the Raman Laser Spectrometer (RLS) in the ExoMars mission, were synthetized in three different ratios of deuterium marking: 0%, 35%, and 100%. In addition the calibration target of the SuperCam instrument of the Mars 2020 mission also includes a sample of PET. The polymeric characterization by Thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA) and Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) showed similar characteristics, in the range of commercial PET polymers. The same analytical techniques used for organic studies, on board of the ExoMars laboratory, were used for this study: Raman spectroscopy, and Gas chromatography with mass spectrometry (GC/MS). Results showed that both marked compositions could be unequivocally identified, due to the expected differences caused by the increasing of mass of the marked hydrogen atoms. The materials were subjected to the outgassing test, according to ECSS-Q-ST-70-02C standard, of mandatory compliance for every material used in a space mission following the European standards ECSS, to test the validity for space use. All materials, marked and unmarked, passed this test, and even a slight improvement in RML could be observed in the fully deuterium marked (100%) PET, probably caused by its higher weight, but further studies are needed to verify this trend. ; With funding from the Spanish government through the "María de Maeztu Unit of Excellence" accreditation (MDM-2017-0737)

A cable-driven parallel robot (CDPR) was developed for the installation of curtain wall modules (CWM). The research addressed the question of whether the CDPR was capable installing CWMs with sufficient accuracy while being competitive compared to conventional manual methods. In order to develop and test such a system, a conceptual framework that consisted of three sub-systems was defined. The tests, carried out in two close-to-real demonstration buildings, revealed an absolute accuracy of the CWM installation of 4 to 23 mm. The working time for installing a CWM was reduced to 0.51 h. The results also show that the system is competitive for a workspace greater than 96 m2 compared to conventional manual methods. However, improvements such as reducing the hours for setting up the CDPR on the one hand and achieving a faster and more robust MEE on the other hand will be still necessary in the future. ; This project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under grant agreement No. 732513

We present the discovery and characterization of a new transiting planet from Campaign 17 of the Kepler extended mission K2. The planet K2-292 b is a warm sub-Neptune on a 17 day orbit around a bright (V = 9.9 mag) solar-like G3 V star with a mass and radius of M∗ = 1.00 ± 0.03 MȮ and R∗ = 1.09 ± 0.03 RȮ, respectively. We modeled simultaneously the K2 photometry and CARMENES spectroscopic data and derived a radius of Rp=2.63-0.10+0.12 RȮ and mass of Mp=24.5-4.4+4.4 MȮ, yielding a mean density of ρp=7.4-1.5+1.6 g cm-3, which makes it one of the densest sub-Neptunian planets known to date. We also detected a linear trend in the radial velocities of K2-292 (γRV =-0.40-0.07+0.07 m s-1 d-1) that suggests a long-period companion with a minimum mass on the order of 33 MȮ. If confirmed, it would support a formation scenario of K2-292 b by migration caused by Kozai-Lidov oscillations. © 2019 ESO. ; Funding for the K2 mission is provided by the NASA Science Mission directorate.
