Explores the relation between right-wing authoritarianism & nationalism among US state lawmakers, arguing that the level of right-wing authoritarianism is positively correlated with ethnocentric nationalistic perceptions. Survey data collected in 1990 from 120 congressional representatives of 5 states (FL, IA, OR, TX, & WI) elicited opinions on both a US action (eg, a military intervention in a neighboring country) & the same action by the USSR. Results indicate statistically significant differences in the assessment of US vs Soviet actions; the more authoritarian the respondent, the greater his/her nationalist orientation. 1 Table, 16 References.
