Data Management Plans (DMP) play an important role for planning and conducting research activities and more and more researchers are facing requirements by their institution or funding agency for writing such a plan. Thereby, they are often misunderstood as an administrative task. Instead, DMPs are a powerful tool for efficient and secure collaboration and for the creation of research outputs of better quality and higher impact. A DMP will also help you to develop strategies for sharing and publishing your research data as openly as possible (and protecting them, when necessary). In this session, we will introduce the typical components of a DMP and discuss how the plan can be used actively throughout a research project. It will be targeted towards PhD students, but it will also be relevant for anyone working with research data. ; Co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union
The humanities today use digital tools for their research projects. This training is an opportunity to review research data and FAIR principles in humanities projects. In this session, we provide an introduction to the research data life cycle, and then discuss how the digital humanities produce and must manage research data. We show what it means to create FAIR data, even before a project begins. We also see the management differences between the physical objects, their various digital forms and metadata, as well as the research data produced during the project. Finally, we finish with a review of tools and good practices, before showing examples, such as data reuse and the use of the CIDOC CRM ontology. ; Co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union
Since 2019, the ANR has implemented Open Science requirements (Open Access to publications and Data Management Plan) for projects funded under the 2019 and subsequent calls for projects[i]. These obligations are part of the French national strategy for Open Science, initiated with the National Plan for Open Science[ii] in 2018. If funded projects have obligations, the project coordinators can anticipate these requirements as early as the grant proposal writing phase, when they draw up their full proposal. It allows them to improve the viability of their project by identifying support services and the means necessary to implement an ambitious Open Science strategy. Anticipating these aspects can also facilitate collaborations within teams and consortia to make Open Science an opportunity rather than a constraint. This guide has a practical aim to help researchers take into account Open Science in each section of their full proposal, but it is not : A collection of ready-to-use sentences or paragraphs, to be copied and pasted into project proposals. A document to be applied in its entirety regardless of project specifics. A document validated by the ANR that replaces or contradicts the policy and rules presented by the ANR in its official documents.[i] https://anr.fr/fr/lanr-et-la-recherche/engagements-et-valeurs/la-science-ouverte/[ii] https://www.enseignementsup-recherche.gouv.fr/cid132531/plan-national-pour-la-science-ouverte-discours-de-frederique-vidal.html ; Depuis 2019, l'ANR a mis en place des obligations Science Ouverte (libre accès et Plan de Gestion des Données) pour les projets financés dans le cadre des appels à projets 2019 et ultérieurs[i]. The stated ambition of the National Plan for Open Science published on July 4th 2018 was to make publicly funded research data compliant with the FAIR principles. The guide identifies a core set of fundamental objectives which need to be achieved alongside seven complementary recommendations to help research and higher education institutions formalise and implement their in-house research data policy. It takes the existing differences in research data management into account both at the level of disciplines and of institutions and operators under the authority of the Higher Education, Research and Innovation Ministry (MESRI).
