Résumé La presse traditionnelle repose essentiellement sur deux types de ressources : la vente au numéro et la publicité. Avec Internet, plusieurs phénomènes ont chahuté ce modèle économique : la concurrence des portails généralistes diffusant gratuitement des dépêches d'agence, la remise en question de la valeur de l'information pour le consommateur final, la confrontation directe des éditeurs avec leur audience en ligne et l'émergence des blogs, de nouveaux supports d'informations produits à titre individuel et bénévole pour commenter l'actualité. Les réponses des acteurs sont très disparates et elles n'ont pas toujours été uniquement motivées par des raisons économiques. Si le modèle payant est surtout le fait de publications semi-professionnelles, le choix du modèle publicitaire est le plus répandu, notamment pour les sites grand public d'informations générales ou thématiques. Toutefois, les difficultés du marché publicitaire sur Internet ont poussé certains éditeurs à opter pour un modèle mixte, où le lecteur est mis à contribution via un abonnement, pour financer les développements du site. Enfin, si les portails généralistes viabilisent leur modèle en attirant une audience de masse, les médias traditionnels ont tout intérêt à la différenciation, en faisant vivre leur marque en ligne et en garantissant une qualité de contenus toute aussi irréprochable que dans leur métier d'origine.

This book provides an interdisciplinary account of how technological advances - mainly in the domains of energy and transportation - contribute to the transformation towards a more sustainable economic system. Drawing on methods from engineering, the management sciences and economics, which it combines in the framework of a systems sciences approach, the book presents qualitative and quantitative studies on government regulation, resources management and firms' strategy. Topics covered include the state-market dilemma of government CO2 emission targets, implications of the electrification of the economy, incentives and coercion in government transport policies, and innovations in the electric vehicle industry.
