Les jeunes nomades et saisonniers viticoles sont peu étudiés par les chercheurs et peu connus des politiques publiques. Quand ils circulent dans les espaces ruraux, leur présence interroge la norme d'habitat établie par les codes de l'urbanisme et les politiques sociales liées au logement. En effet, les jeunes saisonniers nomades vivant en tente, voiture et principalement en camion aménagé transgressent la norme de l'habitat par leur mode de vie mobile. Les entretiens que nous avons réalisés avec ces jeunes, souvent vus comme des déviants dans les espaces ruraux qu'ils traversent, ont permis de comprendre leur monde social et, ce faisant, les valeurs mises en avant par ces nomades pour justifier leur maintien dans ce mode de vie.

Résumé : Bien que les recherches s'intéressent de plus en plus aux problématiques liées à la jeunesse en milieu rural, les jeunes circulant dans les espaces ruraux sont encore sous-étudiés et font partie d'une jeunesse invisibilisée qui peine à faire entendre sa voix dans la sphère publique. Pour autant, ces jeunes méritent notre intérêt du fait qu'ils vivent, ou circulent, dans des espaces ruraux hétérogènes qui sont intégrés aux enjeux professionnels et économiques globalisés et libéralisés de notre société contemporaine. Dans ce contexte particulier, l'article s'intéresse aux convergences et aux multiplications des vulnérabilités induites ainsi qu'à leurs particularités telles qu'elles sont vécues par des jeunes non diplômés et des jeunes nomades saisonniers viticoles vivant, ou circulant, dans des espaces ruraux de Nouvelle-Aquitaine.

Dramatic social change leads to profound societal transformations in many countries around the world. The two recent revolutions in March 2005 and April 2010, and the ethnic conflict in June 2010 in Kyrgyzstan are vivid examples. The present research aims to understand people's reactions to dramatic social change in terms of personal well-being. To further understand how people react psychologically to dramatic social change, the theoretical framework of our research is based on a dominant theory in social psychology: Collective relative deprivation theory. In the past, researchers have argued that collective relative deprivation is logically associated with collective outcomes, and thus is not likely to impact personal well-being (e.g., Walker & Mann, 1987 ). Others, however, have argued that feelings of collective relative deprivation do impact personal well-being (e.g., Zagefka & Brown, 2005 ). We postulate that these inconsistent results arise because past research has failed to consider multiple points of comparison over time to assess collective relative deprivation. Specifically, we theorize that multiple points of collective relative deprivation need to be taken into account, and in so doing, collective relative deprivation will, indeed, be related to personal well-being. We also explore the entire trajectory of collective relative deprivation (which represents how an individual perceives the evolution of his/her group's history across time) to predict personal well-being. In the present study, we tested these theoretical propositions in the context of dramatic social change in Kyrgyzstan. Regressions, group-based trajectory modeling, and MANOVA confirm our hypotheses.

Background: Due to the current coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis, workplaces have had to make significant alterations in the way they conduct business. This, in addition to the current financial instability, may put workers at risk of experiencing job insecurity and, in turn, lower wellbeing. Job insecurity is a key determinant of wellbeing, but little is known on how it is impacted by public health crises, and more specifically how it relates to workers' positive and negative wellbeing in the midst of a pandemic. Research is lacking on resilience levers that workplace interventions should target to support wellbeing in times of insecurity. Objective: Framed from a multidisciplinary perspective (public health, positive and organizational psychology), the study explores (1) workers' job (in)security during the COVID-19 pandemic one to two weeks after social distancing measures were implemented by Canadian governments, (2) how job (in)security relates to wellbeing during the pandemic, and (3) the potential positive effects of workplace-related resilience levers. Method: 1,073 Canadian workers working full-/part-time or who were temporarily laid off completed an online survey, including measures of wellbeing at work or in general, job security and potential resilience levers (workplace disaster preparedness, policy, social capital). Results: Multiple regression findings highlight that marginalized workers (e.g., women, migrants, people facing financial hardships) reported lower job security, and having temporarily lost one's job was negatively associated with job security. Low job security was related to lower scores across measures of wellbeing. Distress was high in the sample. Workplace disaster preparedness, policy and social capital were associated with higher wellbeing. The effects of these resilience levers tended to be stronger at higher job security levels. Discussion: Recommendations include a systemic, collaborative approach that includes policies fostering job security as well as resilience-promoting interventions in the workplace to protect/increase the wellbeing of workers during COVID-19.
