Indonesia has been well known for it's beautiful batik. In fact UNESCO has been awarded batik Indonesia as a masterpiece of oral and intangible heritage of humanity. UNESCO insisted that Indonesia must preserve its heritage. Batik has been part of creative economy in Indonesia. Jawa Timur province had many batik industrial center spreaded in several city, such as Madura, Sidoarjo, Tuban, Tulungagung, etc. Batik, especially hand drawn batik company in Indonesia usually run by entrepreneur of small company. The success of financial performance in hand drawn batik industry was supposedly the result of entrepreneurship of batik company owner / manager, and good operational performance in their internal business process. This study focused on the mediating effect of operational performance on the relationship of entrepreneurship toward financial performance in batik hand drawn industry in East Java Province in Indonesia. This study used quantitative approach. The sample of this study was 111 small business batik company, and analyzed using Warp PLS. Result of the study showed that operational performance mediated the relatioship between entrepreneurship and financial performance. The result of this study contributed input to the policy maker in East Java Province government abot developing sustainable and successful batik industry to boost creative economic activity in East Java Province. This study also gave a contribution in management accounting area especialy about factor that giving impact to financial performance in batik industry.

This study is aimed to describe the CSR programs in Indonesia through empirical evidence that the CSR mediate the environmental certifications toward the firm value. This explanatory research population is the non-service corporations enlisted in Indonesian Stock Market (BEI) between 2010- 2012. The study applies non-probability sampling method with the total number of 289 firm years. The method of analysis is SEM (variance-based)using WARP-PLS version 3.0 software. The finding shows that the disclosure of CSR mediates the acquiring of environment certification toward the firm value. It is expected that this study will encourage the government through stock market authority to provide complete direction in making CSR reports referring to universally accepted GRI that will eventually be used in economic decision- making activities for the investor.

This study aims to determine the formulation of strategies that can be used in facing the challenges of implementation of innovation policies in realising sustainable development in the community environment with the case study of the Indonesia Village Government. The innovation policy aims to improve the quality in the use of village funds and also to encourage productivity and development in rural areas as well as build sustainable village capacity to improve the socio-economic welfare of the community and the independence of the village. This qualitative research uses a case study approach through field research in the village local government. We identified several challenges in the implementation of the innovation policy. In overcoming these challenges, as well as successfully implementing the policy, the role of innovative behaviour on the part of policy makers at the village level is importance. With an exploration strategy approach, entrepreneurial strategies and open and collaborative approaches used by various parties are also required in the successful implementation of innovation policy. The development of future research related to innovation policy relevant to the characteristics of rural communities is still very much needed.

This study explores the value chain of the health insurance industry, government institutions, and healthcare providers in Indonesia. It is designed as qualitative research using exploratory case study approach. Primary data are obtained through in-depth interviews with informants consisting of health insurance managers, government officers, and hospital managers. Secondary data are collected through public reports. Some parties contribute to the high cost of healthcare in Indonesia along the value chain of the health insurance industry, government institutions, and healthcare providers. The structural cost drivers include bureaucracy, lack of synergy, fraud, hospital claims, medicine price, participants' behavior, and insurance companies' behaviors.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate whether performance management system (PMS) has a positive effect on organizational performance. Furthermore, it also investigates whether intellectual capital (IC) mediates PMS-organizational performance relationship. Design/methodology/approach This study is designed as a quantitative research employing a partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). Using an online survey, data are collected from the HEIs managers under the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, the Government of Indonesia (MRTH-GOI). This research uses a mediation model approach to test the indirect effect of IC. Findings The results reveal that PMS has a positive direct effect on organizational performance of the HEIs in Indonesia. Further analysis proves that IC partially mediates PMS-organizational relationship. Research limitations/implications This research is context-specific for Indonesia and caution should be used when generalizing it to other countries. It implies that the better the organizational performance of the HEIs, the better the quality of life in the society. PMS and IC play a crucial role in the era of knowledge economy. Practical implications The HEIs managers should design and implement a reliable PMS. They also should properly manage the IC (human capital, structural capital, relational capital) so that they can enhance organizational performance in areas of teaching, research and community service as the core business of the HEIs. Social implications As the global education competition has become a serious issue in each HEI in Indonesia, the results of this study contribute to providing an approach on how to achieve a better organizational performance which brings more benefits to the society. The HEIs display a strategic role in improving the quality of life of society. The knowledge economy requires society to enhance the quality of education at all levels. This research model and results provide empirical evidence of the importance of IC which mediates the relationship between PMS and organizational performance. When the HEIs in Indonesia implement this model of managing IC, the society will get more benefits in terms of the improvements in the quality of education, teaching, research and community service from the HEIs. The better the HEIs performance, the better the quality of life of the society in the era of knowledge economy. Originality/value This research brings together issues that are usually examined separately in previous studies. It employs a mediation research model to explore the central role of IC in PMS- organizational performance relationship which is rarely researched. This is also the first study exploring the three constructs of PMS, IC and organizational performance in the Indonesian HEIs research setting.

PurposeThis study aims to investigate the intellectual capital–financial performance relationship using two models, namely the conventional Value-Added Intellectual Coefficient (VAIC) model and the adjusted Value-Added Intellectual Coefficient (A-VAIC) model.Design/methodology/approachThis study is designed as a quantitative research focusing on the relationship between intellectual capital and financial performance of the banking industry in Indonesia. As many as 114 data are derived from the publicly listed banks on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the period of 2012–2017. The multiple regression analysis is employed to test the hypotheses studied.FindingsIn general, the result confirms that intellectual capital affects financial performance. Although not all hypotheses of the study are supported by either the VAIC model or the A-VAIC model, the results provide a deeper and new insight on how each component of intellectual capital efficiency (human capital, structural capital, capital employed, innovation capital) relates to financial performance (return on asset, return on equity, asset turnover, price to book ratio). The results also justify that further improvements in measuring intellectual capital are still needed in the future.Research limitations/implicationsThis study limits its generalization since the sample is only in the Indonesian banking industry. Notwithstanding the limitation, the results imply that the Indonesian banking managers need to be aware of intellectual capital management because of its strategic role in enhancing financial performance.Practical implicationsThis study contributes to the intellectual capital literature by providing empirical evidence on the use of both models, namely the conventional VAIC and the A-VAIC in the Indonesian banking industry research setting which is never been studied before.Social implicationsThis study has the social implication to the enhancement of the quality life of the society. The higher the quality of intellectual capital in the banking firms, the better the banks serve the needs of the community.Originality/valueThis study contributes to the IC literature by providing empirical research on the use of the VAIC model and the A-VAIC model in the Indonesian banking industry.

Previous research related to social responsibility (CSR) and corporate financial performance (CFP) refers to different theoretical underpinnings. This study uses two different perspectives, namely stakeholder theory and resource based theory. This study focuses on the banking industry listed on the Indonesia`s stock exchange period 2008-2015. Bank Indonesia as a major central bank, which has big authority, has set a bank soundness rating since 2011. This provision encourages banks to improve their management and meet these requirement thus CSR and CFP are important indicators. The findings of this study indicate that CSR has a significant influence on CFP, and CFP also has a significant effect on CSR. The size of the influence of both is still determined by the size of the company, the composition of corporate funding sources and government intervention

The government launched a 35,000 MW program based on the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia especially for outside Java region as part of development of country infrastructure. To be able to continue to grow and compete, PT PJB as a company engaged in the field of electric power producers must have good investment plan, one of the investments that can be made is through participation in electric power plant development projects. The purpose of this study is to find out the influential criteria in making decisions and provide recommendations to PT PJB in the formulation of alternative priority scales for power plant development projects selection strategy. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study approach. Samples from this study were key informants using purposive sampling and filling out questionnaires. The results of this study are the formation of 3 criteria which are the best priorities, namely generating new revenue with a weight of 0.177, market share with a weight of 0.134 and increasing opportunities in the future with a weight of 0.127. While the determination of the main alternative for the construction of the Power Plant Project is the Java 7 PLTU of 16.3%, the Java 8 PLTU of 12.9% and the Java 3 PLTGU of 10%.

Inovasi merupakan kekuatan penting dalam peningkatan kinerja organisasi serta dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan ekonomi dan pembangunan (Agbim, 2013). This study aims to determine the effect of innovation as a mediating variable on the relationship of knowledge management to organizational performance.This study uses a population of employees of government research organizations. Samples were taken by clustering. The data analysis method used in this research is Partial Least Squares. The results showed that there was a direct positive effect on knowledge management innovation and organizational performance. The innovation variable did not succeed in playing a role in the relationship of knowledge management to organizational performance.
