Une Recomposition incertaine. Les Elections presidentielles et legislatives de 2002 en Languedoc-Roussilion
In: Pôle sud: revue de science politique, Heft 17, S. 101-118
ISSN: 1262-1676
Languedoc-Roussillon is one of the French regions where the score of the extreme right wing is the highest. This tradition has continued for twenty years, a period marked by demographic turmoil. Behind the current political establishment, political forces vie for internal recomposition. The Left, winning in 1997 almost all of the deputy seats, is now on the way to moderation, thereby losing important electoral strongholds. The Right, employing a strategy of alliances with the extreme right wing, has re-conquered a majority of seats being supported by the birth of the UMP (Union pour un movement populaire [Union for a Popular Movement]). Nothing indicates that the power struggle resulting from the elections will last longer than the two previous ones, depicting the political Languedoc as white in 1993, & pink-red in 1997. 8 Tables, 11 References. Le Pouvoir local en debats: pour une sociologie du rapport entre leadership et territoire
In: Pôle sud: revue de science politique, Heft 13, S. 103-119
ISSN: 1262-1676
Considers the relevance of the notion of leadership for improving the understanding of the changing patterns of territorial power & action that have occurred over the last 20 years. Having conducted a review of the existing approach to this question, the authors underline the importance of a gap in this research: the relationship between leadership & territory. As an antidote, they then propose a three-dimensional analytical grid that simultaneously tackles territorial configurations of power, the political construction of leadership, & the role of territorial identity. This proposition is illustrated with examples taken from a range of empirical research conducted by the authors. 68 References. Adapted from the source document.
