In article "The Problems of Investigation of the Rebellion Movement of Northern Ukraine 1918–1921 (Regional Aspect)" finds out the problematic issues that arise in the comprehensive study of the peasant-rebel movement of 1918–1921. These issues are typical for general studies on the history of the Ukrainian rebel movement, but they may also have regional specifics. These include inaccuracies in the biographical data of participants in insurgent formations, the correctness and verification of the available source base and errors in determining the locations of certain events related to the history of the insurgency movement. For example, places connected with rebel military actions. The author illustrates the problems he describes with examples from documents relating to the activities of ataman Struk, one of the most famous atamans of Northern Ukraine. In conclusion, the author argues that the study of the history of the insurrectional movement of 1918–1921 in its regional aspects requires at least the solution of the three problem complexes. Firstly, the problem of verifying biographical information about atamans or other participants in the peasant revolt movement of the revolutionary era. Secondly, the problem of interpreting and verifying sources of insurgent movement. Thirdly, the localization of insurgent actions on the map, which is inextricably linked with the question of checking toponyms in the sources. It is often impossible to solve these problematic issues without resorting to local lore materials that can shed light on those parts that have been left out of focus by more global historical sources. ; У статті з'ясовуються проблемні питання, що виникають при комплексному дослідженні селянсько-повстанського руху 1918–1921 рр. Ці питання є типовими і для загальних досліджень з історії українського повстанського руху, але вони можуть мати й регіональну специфіку. До них належать неточності біографічних даних учасників повстанських формувань, коректність та перевірка наявної джерельної бази та помилки при визначенні локацій тих чи інших подій, пов'язаних з історією повстанського руху. Наприклад, місць, пов'язаних з бойовими акціями повстанців. In article is compared of the river war of the Cossack and the insurgent military formations and their river fleets on the Dnipro, as a part of the Ukrainian military history and the history of Ukraine during the Cossack era and First liberation struggle of 1917–1921. River communications were a significant factor in the tactics and sometimes in the strategies of the opposing sides. River fleets became one of the means of control over water communications. Those Cossacks' and rebels' flotillas were sometimes created on the basis of with civil ships unassigned for military purposes. Their defense and weapons were largely of an improvised nature. The Cossack and the insurgent military detachments had their own river transport at their disposal, which became one of the factors that allowed them to conduct more maneuverable military actions and to be less vulnerable under adverse conditions. In fact, even a complete or partial loss of the Cossacks' and rebels' flotillas did not leaded to the termination of the river war – the hostilities on the Dnipro, which indicates the importance of the Cossacks' and rebels' awareness about the waterways as a military factor. The author finds out what role the Dnipro played for the tactics of Ukrainian Cossacks in the 15th and 17th centuries. He also explores exactly what river transport was used by Cossacksor military purposes and what significance it had in the most significant battles of the Cossacks. Based on this information, the author tries to compare what was common and different in the fighting on the Dnipro of the Ukrainian Cossacks and rebels 1918–1921. ; У статті порівнюється річкова війна козацьких та повстанських військових формацій та їх річкових флотів на Дніпрі, як складова частина української військової історії, так і в цілому історії України козацької доби та доби Перших визвольних змагань 1917–1921 рр. Річкові комунікації були вагомим фактором у тактиці, а інколи, й стратегії протиборчих сторін. Одним із засобів контролю над водними комунікаціями ставали річкові флотилії. Наявність у козацьких та повстанських військових з'єднань власного річкового транспорту стала одним з факторів, який дозволяв їм вести більш маневрені військові дії та бути менш вразливимиза несприятливих умов.
