Summary The Social Rent Dwellings Completions present information on the amount of total completions of additional Social Rent dwellings provided by each Local Authority in England annually since 1991. Technical description The Social Rent Dwellings Completions is an estimate, calculated by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, of the total amount of affordable dwelling that are added each year per Local Authority (LA). The information is presented either as starts-on-site or completions; for this indicator, only completions were considered. Completions here includes new build, acquisitions and homes where the cost is met by a private developer. In some years, some figures could not be broken down below national level, so the sum of the local authority figures may not equal the total for England figure. Values are presented on the basis of financial years, i.e. from April 1st to March 31st. Social Rent dwellings figures were calculated for both Lower Tier Local Authorities (HS_14_02L) and Upper Tier Local Authorities (HS_14_02U). Figures from historic LA geography have been referenced to the 2018 LA geography. This includes changes in name/codes, merges, or splits of old LAs to new LAs.

Income values from historic LA geography have been referenced to the 2018 LA geography. The indicator includes several types of funding, mainly: a) Special and specific Grants within Aggregate External Finance (AEF), b) Grants outside AEF, c) Area Based Grants (ABG) (from 2008/2009 until 2010/2011) or Local Services Support Grant (LSSG) (from 2011/2012 onwards), d) Revenue Support Grant (RSG), e) Police Grant and f) Redistributed non-domestic rates or Retained income from Rate Retention Scheme. Note that this list of government funding is not exhaustive, and that there are other types of Central Government funding available to Local Authorities, such as appropriations from various funding reserves, albeit minor. In this sense, the Total value does not reflect the total amount of Central Government funding to Local Authorities but can be used as a good approximation. Summary The dataset provides information about the number of homeless households in temporary accommodation by Lower Tier Local Authorities in England. It includes data about the type of accommodation offered as well as where duty is owed but no accommodation has been secured. Figures are presented as the total amount as well as the ratio per 1000 households since 2004/2005. Technical description The Local Authority (LA) Homeless Statistics indicators were compiled based on data released by the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government (MHCL), and includes the number of homeless households in temporary accommodation, broken down by type of accommodation offered by the end (31 March) of that financial year. Types of accommodation include Bed and breakfast, Hostels, LA or Housing Association stock, Private-sector leased (by LA or HA) or Other type, as well as the number of households where duty is owed but no accommodation has been offered. Data are presented on the basis of financial years, i.e. from April 1st to March 31st. Some LAs did not report data for some individual years and these values are denoted as NAs. Source figures are reported by LAs quarterly and some values were imputed before published. Values regarding homeless households are expressed as amounts as well as ratios per 1000 households. Summary The Core Spending Power indicator describes the available revenue for each Local Authority in England to fund service delivery. It sets out the money that has been made available to local government through the Local Government Finance Settlement. Technical description The Core Spending Power figures are derived from the sum of various core funding components, such as the Settlement Funding Assessment, the Council Tax Requirement and other specific grants. For more details see the explanatory note published by the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government (see data sources in technical description). Due to regular changes to local authority duties and reporting arrangements since 2010-11, we adjusted the data to allow comparisons over time. For this we exclude Public Health Grant, the Better Care Fund and other NHS health transfers from our analysis of spending power, but added any Transitions Grants for that year. For consistency, we also removed any spending power regarding "other" authorities, such as Police and Fire Authorities, or the Greater London Authority. Spending power figures presented are calculated at either Lower Tier or Upper Tier level. Values are presented on the basis of financial years, i.e. from April 1st to March 31st and are presented in £ millions.
