In den Kommunen ist der Umgang mit Kinder- und Jugendkriminalität selbstverständlicher Alltag. Die Trends zur Vertiefung der ethnischen und sozialen Spaltung und Ausgrenzung und die Erfahrung"überforderter Nachbarschaften"rufen Gegenkräfte auf den Plan. Neue Ansätze, teils auch die Mischung aus alten Ideen zur Prävention mit neuen, bisher ungewohnten Partnerschaften (z.B. zwischen Sozialarbeit und Polizei, oft auch mit Nicht-Professionellen, sozialen Freiwilligen, Nachbarn, Familien) holen die Auseinandersetzung um die Integration von (delinquenten) Kindern und Jugendlichen praktisch zurück ins Gemeinwesen. Der Band versammelt Beiträge aus Wissenschaft, (kommunaler) Politik und sozialer Praxis.

Der Verfasser analysiert das Konzept der sozialen Integration und unterscheidet einzelne Dimensionen dieses Prozesses. Dabei handelt es sich um die strukturellen, sozialen, kulturellen und personellen Aspekte der Integrationsproblematik. In diesem Kontext werden nationale Modelle der Integration thematisiert. Dem französischen republikanischen Modell wird ein deutsches entgegengesetzt. Das Letztere impliziert eher eine Schwerpunktsetzung auf die sozialen und kulturellen Aspekten der Integration, während das französische auf dem Konzept der Staatsanghörigkeit basiert. Das deutsche Modell der Integration wird als eine Kombination von direkten und indirekten Strategien auf wirtschaftlichen und sozio-kulturellen Gebieten dargestellt, wobei Institutionen wie Kindergarten, Schulen und Berufsausbildung eine zentrale Rolle spielen. Vor diesem Hintergrund werden Wechselwirkungen zwischen bildungs-, qualifizierungs- und arbeitsmarktbezogenen Formen der Integration von jungen Menschen mit Migrationshintergrund untersucht und entsprechende Programme auf der Bundes-, Landes- und regionalen Ebenen präsentiert. Nach einer kritischen Betrachtung der Integrationspraxis wird die Frage zur Diskussion gestellt, wie ein Management der Vielfalt ohne die Reproduktion von Segmentierung und Ungleichheit auf dem Gebiet der Integration möglich ist. The central aim of the present article is to reflect on the possible contribution sociological comparative youth research in Europe can offer for a better understanding of youth life in the EU member states. With this purpose it analyses in a first step, the structural conditions under which young Europeans grow up today, in the context of globalisation and Europeanization, asking about the consequences such processes have on young people's insertion in society. The analysis of youth and youth developed here includes further a systematic review of the most relevant theoretical concepts on youth life being discussed by scholars in Europe today, a description of the most important research instruments, data sources and networks already existing in EU-Europe in this field, a short analysis of possible research issues and questions that are considered as relevant for European social politics and a discussion of advantages, limitations and problems of European comparative youth research, arriving finally to some general conclusions that could give orientations for future work in this field. ; L'objectiu principal d'aquest article és reflexionar sobre la possible aportació que la recerca sociològica comparativa sobre la joventut europea pot representar per entendre més bé la vida dels joves en els estats membres de la Unió Europea. Amb aquest propòsit, en una primera fase, s'hi analitzen les condicions estructurals en què creixen els joves europeus d'avui dia, en el context de globalització i europeïtzació, tot preguntant-nos quines conseqüències tenen aquests processos en la inserció dels joves en la societat. L'anàlisi de la joventut que es desenvolupa en aquest article inclou, a més d'un examen sistemàtic dels conceptes teòrics més importants de la vida juvenil que actualment es plantegen els estudiosos a Europa, una descripció dels instruments més importants de recerca, de les fonts de dades i de les xarxes de contactes existents a Europa i a la Unió Europea en aquest àmbit, una breu anàlisi dels possibles temes i qüestions de recerca considerats pertinents per a la política social europea, així com una discussió dels avantatges, les limitacions i els problemes de la recerca comparativa sobre la joventut que es fa actualment a Europa. Finalment, s'arriba a algunes conclusions generals que poden servir d'orientació per a futurs treballs en aquest camp.

Conformément à l'architecture fédéraliste de l'Allemagne, l'action publique de jeunesse se construit dans un cadre fortement décentralisé et selon le principe de subsidiarité. Les pouvoirs publics n'interviennent en matière d'enfance et de jeunesse qu'en cas de défaillance parentale et chaque niveau d'action publique est subordonné à l'action de l'échelon inférieur. Du point de vue des acteurs, le fait le plus notable est celui de l'autonomie des organisations de jeunesse. Leurs actions sont de nature à la fois éducative et représentative : il s'agit de développer des programmes éducatifs en direction des jeunes et de leur famille mais aussi de représenter les intérêts de la jeunesse dans la société.

Youth and the future What will become of today´s young people in Australia, Asia, Europe, Latin America and North America? Will they be supportive of the world they live in? Or are they doomed to be criminal drop-outs? The authors investigate to which extent different and contradictory trends of social modernisation and economic progress determine the biographical development and social integration of young people in different countries and world regions. Thus, the authors look at the role young people themselves can play in the future; either as construc tive social actors or as a problematic - and partly excluded - group unable to face the challenges of a permanently changing world.

Delayed and negotiated autonomy : residential emancipation of young Europeans.
A significant proportion of young people from 15 to 29 years old in the European Union still live in their parents' home. This tendency displayed by young people to delay moving out varies from country to country, and between young men and young women. So far, rather little research has been done on this phenomenon., but these «birds » in no hurry to leave the nest are nevertheless arousing increasing interest among experts on family policy. The fact is that those experts have noted that delaying residential emancipation is also tantamount to later founding one's own family. Hence this contribution deals with the residential emancipation of young people in Europe. It relies on an analysis of quantitative tendencies and on qualitative interviews carried out within the framework of the European Union project called «Family and Transitions in Europe » .

'In der Europäischen Union lebt ein signifikanter Anteil von jungen Menschen im Alter von 15 bis 29 Jahren immer noch zuhause bei ihren Eltern. Dieser Trend, die räumliche Trennung vom Elternhaus aufzuschieben, variiert von Land zu Land sowie zwischen jungen Frauen und jungen Männern. Bislang hat es zu diesem Phänomen relativ wenige Forschungen gegeben; die 'verspäteten Nesthocker' haben jedoch zunehmend die Aufmerksamkeit von Fachleuten der Familienpolitik gefunden. Denn diesen wurde bewusst, dass der Aufschub der häuslichen Emanzipation zugleich einen Aufschub der eigenen Familienbildung bedeutet. Der folgende Beitrag handelt folglich von der häuslichen Emanzipation von jungen Menschen in Europa. Er stützt sich auf die Analyse quantitativer Trends und qualitativer Interviews, die im Rahmen des EU-Projekts 'Families and Transitions in Europe' (FATE) erhoben worden sind (vgl.
