This article discusses the current situation resulting from many years of war in Afghanistan relating to the states of internally displaced persons, particularly women. The article discusses the difficulties which face relief organizations in providing assistance in areas now controlled by the Taliban, especially to women & girls. The article analyzes the importance of understanding gender roles in the Afghan community & directing relief in a manner that respects cultural traditions. The article gives some recommendations on ways to approach the situation. E. Miller
