Fünfzehn Jahre lang arbeitete Julia Berger als Personalreferentin - und war als solche Hauptverdienerin in der Familie. Dann wurde sie entlassen. Diese Erfahrung, die Höhen und Tiefen, die Hoffnungen und Enttäuschungen, die ihr während ihrer Arbeitslosigkeit widerfuhren, schildert Julia Berger in ihrem Buch "Gefeuert". Die Wirtschaftskrise hat auch Julia Bergers Arbeitgeber fest im Griff, so dass er Mitarbeiter abbauen muss. Am Telefon erfährt die Autorin von "Gefeuert", dass sie gekündigt ist. Und mit diesem einem Anruf gerät das wohlgeordnete Familienleben aus den Fugen. Für das fehlende Einkommen muss unverzüglich Ersatz gefunden werden. Doch das ist leichter gesagt als getan. Mit Humor und Ironie berichtet Julia Berger in "Gefeuert" vom nun einsetzenden Hindernislauf bei der Jobsuche. Schnell stellt sich heraus, dass auch überdurchschnittliche Qualifikation, Studium oder langjährige Berufserfahrung keinen Schutz vor dem sozialen Abstieg oder Hartz IV darstellen. Als wenig hilfreich erweist sich die Beratung in der Arbeitsagentur. Bergers Fazit in "Gefeuert": Hier werden Gekündigte behindert, nicht unterstützt. Ehrlich und schonungslos berichtet sie von dem bürokratischen Irrsinn der Arbeitslosen-Verwaltung, von der demütigenden Behandlung dort. "Gefeuert" ist aber auch eine schonungslose Bestandsaufnahme vom Umgang mit dem Tabuthema Arbeitslosigkeit. Kollegen und Freunde reagieren befremdlich und selbst der Familie fällt es schwer, mit Bergers Arbeitslosigkeit offen und souverän umzugehen. Doch Berger lässt sich nicht beirren, schreibt Bewerbungen, wird zu Vorstellungsgesprächen eingeladen und erkennt mehr und mehr: Eine unbefristete Festanstellung ist ein Auslaufmodell der modernen Arbeitswelt. "Gefeuert" zeigt, wie wichtig es bei all dem ist, Mut zu bewahren und das Selbstvertrauen nicht zu verlieren.

Betroffene stehen Persönlichkeitsrechtsverletzungen im Netz oft hilflos gegenüber: der verletzende Inhalt wird mitunter gelöscht, Auskunft über die Identität der Nutzer:innen erhält der Betroffene jedoch nicht ohne Weiteres. Der allgemeine Auskunftsanspruch scheiterte lange an einer datenschutzrechtlichen Befugnisnorm. Es bestand nur die (erfolglose) Möglichkeit strafrechtlich gegen Unbekannt vorzugehen, um so an Informationen zu gelangen. Im Ergebnis lief der zivilrechtliche Schutz jahrelang schlicht leer. Die zwischenzeitliche Nachbesserung des Gesetzgebers vermag daran kaum etwas zu ändern. Zum Schutz des grundrechtlich verbürgten Persönlichkeitsrechts bedarf es der Einführung eines eigenständigen zivilrechtlichen Drittauskunftsanspruches.

Interdisciplinary considerations show how productive it can be to answer this question by reflecting on it in light of discussions about repetition.

In this article, the authors analyze face-to-face and interactive tours of Robben Island, South Africa. Using ethnographic and rhetorical research methods, they consider the ways in which the Island employs themes of triumph over oppression as a form of nation building. In addition, they consider the ways in which museum narratives may limit how visitors think about social justice in contemporary South Africa.

In diesem Beitrag wird eine Methode vorgestellt, wie basierend auf körperlichen Einschränkungen ein geeigneter Assistenzroboter ausgewählt werden kann. Hierzu werden zunächst die Körperfunktionen einer leistungsgewandelten Person mit den Anforderungen an einen Montageprozess verglichen und ermittelt, an welchen Stellen eine Unterstützung erforderlich ist. Für diese Schritte wird daraufhin ein passender Assistenzroboter und je nach Vorliebe der Person die entsprechende Interaktionsform bestimmt.

Mobile Roboter können durch ihre hohe Anpassungsfähigkeit und Ortsunabhängigkeit zur Flexibilisierung der Produktion beitragen. In der Praxis wird die Einsatzplanung über Flottenmanagementsysteme ohne Berücksichtigung des auftragsspezifischen Energiebedarfs durchgeführt. Die Kenntnis darüber führt aber zu einer Erhöhung der Verfügbarkeit und Energieeffizienz sowie zu einer Verbesserung der Disposition. In diesem Beitrag werden Strategien zur energieorientierten Leitsteuerung mobiler Roboter vorgestellt und simulativ bewertet.
 
Mobile robots may contribute to flexibility in production with heir high adaptability and independence of location. In practice, scheduling is done via fleet management systems without considering order-specific energy demand. However, knowledge of this leads to an increase in availability and energy efficiency as well as to an improvement in disposition. This paper presents strategies for energy-oriented control of mobile robots and evaluates them by simulation.

Digitale Assistenzsysteme sowie betriebliche Anreizsysteme besitzen in ihrer Kombination das Potenzial, die Belastungssituation in der manuellen Montage zu senken und die Leistungsbereitschaft zu steigern. In diesem Beitrag wird eine auf Gamification beruhende Anreizimplementierung zur Verbesserung der Dimensionen Qualität, Produktivität und Wissensweitergabe unter Berücksichtigung geltenden Arbeitsrechtes und anwendungsspezifischer Anforderungen analysiert und weiterentwickelt.

This article analyzes and optimizes a gamification-based incentive system to stimulate quality, productivity and the spread of knowledge while considering current employment law and application-specific requirements.

Um komplexe Prozesse in der manuellen Montage zu beherrschen, bieten sich kognitive Assistenzsysteme an. Doch gerade kleinen und mittleren Unternehmen fällt es schwer, solche Systeme zu integrieren. Auslöser dafür sind proprietäre Schnittstellen, die über unterschiedliche Protokolle kommunizieren. Abhilfe schafft ein Konfigurator, der für diesen Zweck entwickelt wurde: Er unterstützt die Arbeitsvorbereitenden dabei, passende kognitive Assistenzsysteme auszuwählen und sie zu vernetzen.
 
Cognitive assistance systems are well-suited for mastering complex processes in manual assembly. However, the integration of such systems poses a significant challenge to small and medium-sized companies due to proprietary interfaces with different communication protocols. The solution is a configurator developed for precisely this purpose: It helps users select the right cognitive assistance system and getting it connected within its network.

Presidential communication has evolved from mass-focused messaging to include more tailored appeals across multiple media platforms. Although researchers have documented how presidents use media and have catalogued some institutional shifts due to communication technologies, we know surprisingly little about public opinion related to presidential communication style. This blind spot is important given the election and presidency of Donald Trump, whose unique use of Twitter challenges traditional norms of presidential communication. In two separate studies, we assess the public's normative beliefs toward President Trump's use of Twitter. Using statewide survey data collected in 2017 and national-level survey data collected in 2019, we assess the normative tensions between deliberative and liberal individualistic presidential communication. The findings illuminate a public grappling with these tensions in evaluating the frequency and appropriateness of the president's tweets.

PURPOSE: To analyze the prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 infection in patients with cancer in hospital care after implementation of institutional and governmental safety measurements. METHODS: Patients with cancer routinely tested for SARS-CoV-2 RNA by nasal swab and real-time polymerase chain reaction between March 21 and May 4, 2020, were included. The results of this cancer cohort were statistically compared with the SARS-CoV-2 prevalence in the Austrian population as determined by a representative nationwide random sample study (control cohort 1) and a cohort of patients without cancer presenting to our hospital (control cohort 2). RESULTS: A total of 1,688 SARS-CoV-2 tests in 1,016 consecutive patients with cancer were performed. A total of 270 of 1,016 (26.6%) of the patients were undergoing active anticancer treatment in a neoadjuvant/adjuvant and 560 of 1,016 (55.1%) in a palliative setting. A total of 53 of 1,016 (5.2%) patients self-reported symptoms potentially associated with COVID-19. In 4 of 1,016 (0.4%) patients, SARS-CoV-2 was detected. At the time of testing at our department, all four SARS-CoV-2–positive patients were asymptomatic, and two of them had recovered from symptomatic COVID-19. Viral clearance was achieved in three of the four patients 14-56 days after testing positive. The estimated odds ratio of SARS-CoV-2 prevalence between the cancer cohort and control cohort 1 was 1.013 (95% CI, 0.209 to 4.272; P = 1), and between control cohort 2 and the cancer cohort it was 18.333 (95% CI, 6.056 to 74.157). CONCLUSION: Our data indicate that continuation of active anticancer therapy and follow-up visits in a large tertiary care hospital are feasible and safe after implementation of strict population-wide and institutional safety measures during the current COVID-19 pandemic. Routine SARS-CoV-2 testing of patients with cancer seems advisable to detect asymptomatic virus carriers and avoid uncontrolled viral spread.
