Gustav August Vichodil bio je jedan od najznačajnijih hrvatskih agronoma s kraja 19. i početka 20. stoljeća. Rođen je u današnjoj Češkoj. Osim u rodnoj zemlji, školovao se u Njemačkoj i Mađarskoj, a prije dolaska u Hrvatsku radio je u Mađarskoj, Austriji i Češkoj. U Hrvatsku je došao tijekom rujna 1874. godine na poziv Zemaljske vlade u Zagrebu da bi preuzeo mjesto tajnika Hrvatsko-slavonskog gospodarskog društva. Budući da se iskazao kao izvrstan poljoprivredni stručnjak, 1878. godine imenovan je za ravnatelja Kraljevskog gospodarskog i šumarskog učilišta u Križevcima. Nažalost, već je 1890. godine zbog teške bolesti umirovljen, no nakon ozdravljenja ponovno je počeo raditi i pisati brojne članke o poljoprivredi, koje je objavio u hrvatskim i austrijskim publikacijama. U svojim prvim radovima Vichodil se ponajčešće bavio poljoprivrednom ekonomijom, pa ga se smatra osnivačem te grane znanosti u Hrvatskoj. Kasnije je puno pozornosti posvećivao svinjogojstvu, ali i organizaciji poljoprivrednog obrazovanja u Hrvatskoj. Pritom spada među prve autore koji su pisali o uzgoju ruža. Zbog doprinosa razvoju agronomije u Hrvatskoj, uoči smrti dodijeljen mu je prvi počasni doktorat poljoprivrednih znanosti na Sveučilištu u Zagrebu. ; Gustav August Vichodil was one of the most prominent Croatian agronomists at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. He was born in today's Czech Republic. Apart from his native country, he studied in Germany and Hungary, and before coming to Croatia, he worked in Hungary, Austria and the Czech Republic. He came to Croatia in September 1874 at the invitation of the Provincial Government in Zagreb to take over the position of the secretary of the Croatian-Slavonian Economic Society. Since he proved to be an excellent agricultural expert, in 1878, he was appointed head of the Royal Agriculture and Forestry College in Križevci. Unfortunately, he retired in 1890 due to a severe illness. However, after recovering, he went back to work and wrote numerous articles on agriculture, which he published in Croatian and Austrian publications. In his early works, Vichodil mostly dealt with agricultural economics, which is why he is considered to be the founder of that branch of science in Croatia. Later, he paid a lot of attention to pig farming, as well as to the organisation of agricultural education in Croatia. He was also one of the first authors to write about the cultivation of roses. Due to his contribution to the development of agronomy in Croatia, shortly before his death, he was awarded the first honorary doctorate in agricultural sciences at the University of Zagreb.

Društvo Hrvatski sokol u Križevcima osnovano je krajem 1904. godine kao jedno od brojnih sokolskih društava na području današnje Hrvatske. Do početka Prvoga svjetskog rata razvilo je značajnu aktivnost na sportskom i prosvjetnom planu: organiziralo je sletove, predavanja i tečajeve za opismenjavanje. Tijekom Prvoga svjetskog rata Društvu je zabranjen rad, no odmah po njegovu završetku ponovno se aktiviralo. Kao dio političkih i državnih promjena koje su nastupile završetkom Prvoga svjetskog rata, Hrvatski sokol u Križevcima je tri godine, točnije od 1919. do 1922., djelovao u sklopu Sokolskog saveza Srba, Hrvata i Slovenaca, odnosno u sklopu Jugoslavenskog sokolskog saveza. Nakon toga je ponovno postao dijelom Hrvatskog sokolskog saveza. Nastavljajući prijeratnu tradiciju, križevački sokolaši isticali su se u sportu, ali i kulturi, obrazovanju te glazbi. Vrhunac aktivnosti odvijao se tijekom 1920-ih godina, kada je Društvo imalo više od 300 članova. Nakon toga je došlo do pada broja članova, no Društvo je usprkos tome bilo aktivno. Primjerice, 1929. godine obilježilo je 25. godišnjicu postojanja velikim sletom Župe Preradović, kojoj je pripadalo od osnivanja. Hrvatski sokol u Križevcima s radom je prestao krajem 1929. godine, kada su se uslijed političkih promjena u Kraljevini Jugoslaviji počela ukidati sokolska društva koja su nosila hrvatsko ime. ; The Croatian Falcon Society in Križevci was founded at the end of 1904 as one of the many falcon societies in the territory of today's Croatia. By the outbreak of World War I, the Society had developed substantial activities in sports and education: it organised public group exercises, lectures, and literacy courses. It was banned during World War I, but immediately upon its conclusion, the Society was restored. As part of the political and state changes that took place upon the conclusion of World War I, the Croatian Falcon Society in Križevci operated within the Falcon Federation of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, i.e. within the Yugoslavian Falcon Federation, for three years, specifically from 1919 to 1922. Afterwards, the Society once again became a part of the Croatian Falcon Federation. Continuing the pre-war tradition, the Falcons from Križevci stood out in sports, but also in culture, education, and music. The peak of their operations transpired during the 1920s when the Society counted more than 300 members. The number later dropped, but the Society was nonetheless active. For example, in 1929, its 25th anniversary was marked by a public group exercise organised by the Preradović Parish, to which it belonged since the founding. The Croatian Falcon Society in Križevci ceased to operate at the end of 1929, when, due to political changes in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, falcon societies bearing the Croatian name began to be abolished.

Autor u članku, na temelju do sada objavljenih istraživanja i izvora, obrađuje porijeklo, biografiju, obiteljske odnose, posjede, vojničku karijeru te Alapićev utjecaj na stanovnike naselja Brezovica, danas Kalnik, smještene na njegovom najznačajnijem posjedu Veliki Kalnik, po kojem će on i njegovi nasljednici nositi naziv Velikokalnički. ; Baltazar Alapić was a descendant of a lower rank Hungarian noble family which moved to Slavonia in the middle of the 15th century. Neither the identity of his parents, nor the date of his birth is clear. He became a citizen of Zagreb in his youth, but soon started pursuing a career in the military. He was the commander of many fortresses in Slavonia (Medvedgrad, Rakovec, Varaždin, Krupa, Japra, Božjakovina, Veliki Kalnik), while his estates were located in the Zagreb and Križevci Counties. He held the position of viceban of Slavonia on three occasions in a span of ten years from 1497 to 1516, later serving as ban of Jajce from 1511 to 1513. He fathered at least six children from three marriages, the most famous of them being Ivan Alapić, the father of the later Slavonian Ban Gašpar Alapić. His most important estate was Veliki Kalnik, which is why he and his successors bear the surname Alapić of Veliki Kalnik. He was buried in the Church of Saint Brice in Brezovica (present-day Kalnik), which was renovated in late Gothic style a few years after his death due to the seat of the Parish of Kalnik moving from the Church of Saint Martin in Igrišće to the mentioned church.
