Die Autorin befaßt sich mit dem ökonomischen Aspekt des interregionalen Konflikts in Jugoslawien. Primär untersucht sie am Beispiel der Rolle, die Solwenien (mit einer starken industriellen Wirtschaftsbasis) und die Wojwodina (mit einer starken landwirtschaftlichen Basis) im innerjugoslawischen Wirtschaftsaustausch spielen, die Frage, ob die Ökonomien der einzelnen Republiken bzw. autonomen Regionen Jugoslawiens wirtschaftlich derart autark sind, daß sie die Loslösung aus dem jugoslawischen Staatenbund ökonomisch verkraften könnten. Des weiteren fragt die Verfasserin nach den Implikationen, die sich aus der unterschiedlichen ökonomischen Basis der Regionen für den Grad ihrer Abhängigkeit von der gesamtjugoslawischen Volkswirtschaft bzw. für ihre ökonomischen Überlebensfähigkeit als unabhängige Regionen ableiten.
