[EN] With the current advance of technology, agent-based applications are becoming a standard in a great variety of domains such as e-commerce, logistics, supply chain management, telecommunications, healthcare, and manufacturing. Another reason for the widespread interest in multi-agent systems is that these systems are seen as a technology and a tool that helps in the analysis and development of new models and theories in large-scale distributed systems or in human-centered systems. [EN] New challenges in education require new ways of education. Higher education has adapted to these new challenges by means of offering new types of training like massive online open courses and by updating their teaching methodology using novel approaches as flipped classrooms. These types of training have enabled universities to better adapt to the challenges posed by the pandemic. In addition, high quality learning objects are necessary for these new forms of education to be successful, with learning videos being the most common learning objects to provide theoretical concepts. This paper describes a new approach of a previously presented hybrid learning recommender system based on content-based techniques, which was capable of recommend useful videos to learners and lecturers from a learning video repository. In this new approach, the content-based techniques are also combined with a collaborative filtering module, which increases the probability of recommending relevant videos. [EN] The links between emotions and rationality have been extensively studied and discussed. Several computational approaches have also been proposed to model these links. However, is it possible to build generic computational approaches and languages so that they can be "adapted " when a specific affective phenomenon is being modeled? Would these approaches be sufficiently and properly grounded? In this work, we want to provide the means for the development of these generic approaches and languages by making a horizontal analysis inspired by philosophical and psychological theories of the main affective phenomena that are traditionally studied. Unfortunately, not all the affective theories can be adapted to be used in computational models; therefore, it is necessary to perform an analysis of the most suitable theories. In this analysis, we identify and classify the main processes and concepts which can be used in a generic affective computational model, and we propose a theoretical framework that includes all these processes and concepts that a model of an affective agent with practical reasoning could use. Our generic theoretical framework supports incremental research whereby future proposals can improve previous ones. This framework also supports the evaluation of the coverage of current computational approaches according to the processes that are modeled and according to the integration of practical reasoning and affect-related issues. [EN] Optimized urban logistics is an important issue for rapidly growing cities worldwide. Many criteria can be optimized in order to improve the performance of urban logistics. Economic and time dependent criteria are central but not the only ones; lately, sustainable criteria are becoming key and urgent due to new regulations and environmental concern of governments and the society. In this work we review the state of the art of intelligent developments and techniques that might aid to build smart and optimized urban logistic applications. Moreover, we propose a prototype platform conceived as a supporting and facilitating layer for the growing business of last mile delivery (LMD) companies that operate in cities in an isolated way. [EN] In non-cooperative multi-agent planning environments, it is essential to have a system that enables the agents¿ strategic behavior. It is also important to consider all planning phases, i.e., goal allocation, strategic planning, and plan execution, in order to solve a complete problem. Currently, we have no evidence of the existence of any framework that brings together all these phases for non-cooperative multi-agent planning environments. In this work, an exhaustive study is made to identify existing approaches for the different phases as well as frameworks and different applicable techniques in each phase. Thus, an abstract framework that covers all the necessary phases to solve these types of problems is proposed. In addition, we provide a concrete instantiation of the abstract framework using different techniques to promote all the advantages that the framework can offer. A case study is also carried out to show an illustrative example of how to solve a non-cooperative multi-agent planning problem with the presented framework. In these systems, when agents have to collaborate or coordinate their activities to achieve their objectives, their different interests and preferences can come into conflict. Argumentation is a powerful technique to harmonise these conflicts. However, in many situations the social context of agents determines the way in which agents can argue to reach agreements. In this paper, we advance research in the computational representation of argumentation frameworks by proposing a new ontologicalbased, knowledge-representation formalism for the design of open MAS in which the participating software agents are able to manage and exchange arguments with each other taking into account the agents' social context. This formalism is the core of a case-based argumentation framework for agent societies. [EN] In this article we study the impact of the negotiation environment on the performance of several intra-team strategies (team dynamics) for agent-based negotiation teams that negotiate with an opponent. An agent-based negotiation team is a group of agents that joins together as a party because they share common interests in the negotiation at hand. It is experimentally shown how negotiation environment conditions like the deadline of both parties, the concession speed of the opponent, similarity among team members, and team size affect performance metrics like the minimum utility of team members, the average utility of team members, and the number of negotiation rounds. [EN] In this article, an agent-based negotiation model for negotiation teams that negotiate a deal with an opponent is presented. Agent-based negotiation teams are groups of agents that join together as a single negotiation party because they share an interest that is related to the negotiation process. The model relies on a trusted mediator that coordinates and helps team members in the decisions that they have to take during the negotiation process: which offer is sent to the opponent, and whether the offers received from the opponent are accepted. The main strength of the proposed negotiation model is the fact that it guarantees unanimity within team decisions since decisions report a utility to team members that is greater than or equal to their aspiration levels at each negotiation round. This work analyzes how unanimous decisions are taken within the team and the robustness of the model against different types of manipulations. [EN] The main goal of this paper is to provide an approach to solve the problem of localization in mobile robots using multi-agent systems. Usually, the robot localization problem is solved in static environments by the addition of the needed sensors in order to help the robot, but this is not useful in dynamic environments where the robot is moving through different rooms or areas. The novelty of this dynamic scenario is that each room is composed of external devices that can enter or exit the system in a dynamic way and report the position where the robot is. In this way, we propose a multi-agent system using the SPADE multi-agent technology platform to improve the location of mobile robots in dynamic scenarios. [EN] Multi-agent system paradigm has been envisioned as an appropriate solution for challenges in the area of smart-environments. Specifically, MAS add new capabilities such as adaption, reorganization, learning, coordination, etc. These features allow to deal with open issues in the context of smart-homes such as multi-occupancy, activity tracking or profiling activities and behaviors from multiple residents. In this paper, we present Magentix2 as a suitable MAS platform for the development of dynamic smart environments. Specifically, the use of Magentix2 (http://gti-ia.upv.es/sma/tools/magentix2/index.php) facilitates the management of the multiple occupancy in smart living spaces. Normative virtual organizations provide the possibility of defining a set of norms and organizational roles that facilitate the regulation and control of the actions that can be carried out by internal and external agents depending on their profile. Moreover, Magentix2 provides a tracing service to keep track of activities carried out in the system. [EN] In this paper, we present the application of a multi-agent platform Magentix2 for the development of MAS in smart-homes. [EN] In multi-agent systems, agents perform complex tasks that require different levels of intelligence and give rise to interactions among them. From these interactions, conflicts of opinion can arise, especially when these systems become open, with heterogeneous agents dynamically entering or leaving the system. Therefore, agents willing to participate in this type of system will be required to include extra capabilities to explicitly represent and generate agreements on top of the simpler ability to interact. Furthermore, agents in multiagent systems can form societies, which impose social dependencies on them. These dependencies have a decisive influence in the way agents interact and reach agreements. Argumentation provides a natural means of dealing with conflicts of interest and opinion. Agents can reach agreements by engaging in argumentation dialogues with their opponents in a discussion. In addition, agents can take advantage of previous argumentation experiences to follow dialogue strategies and persuade other agents to accept their opinions. Our insight is that case-based reasoning can be very useful to manage argumentation in open multi-agent systems and devise dialogue strategies based on previous argumentation experiences. To demonstrate the foundations of this suggestion, this paper presents the work that we have done to develop case-based dialogue strategies in agent societies. Thus, we propose a case-based argumentation framework for agent societies and define heuristic dialogue strategies based on it. [EN] The capability of reaching agreements is a necessary feature that large computer systems where agents interoperate must include. In these systems, agents represent self-motivated entities that have a social context, including dependency relations among them, and different preferences and beliefs. Without agreement there is no cooperation and thus, complex tasks which require the interaction of agents with different points of view cannot be performed. In this work, we propose a case-based argumentation approach for Multi-Agent Systems where agents reach agreements by arguing and improve their argumentation skills from experience. A set of knowledge resources and a reasoning process that agents can use to manage their positions and arguments are presented. [EN] The electric vehicle (EV) is gradually being introduced in cities. The impact of this introduction is less due, among other reasons, to the lack of charging infrastructure necessary to satisfy the demand. In today¿s cities there is no adequate infrastructure and it is necessary to have action plans that allow an easy deployment of a network of EV charging points in current cities. These action plans should try to place the EV charging stations in the most appropriate places for optimizing their use. According to this, this paper presents an agent-oriented approach that analyses the different configurations of possible locations of charging stations for the electric vehicles in a specific city. The proposed multi-agent system takes into account data from a variety of sources such as social networks activity and mobility information in order to estimate the best configurations. The proposed approach employs a genetic algorithm (GA) that tries to optimize the possible configurations of the charging infrastructure.
