In current conditions, the energy security is a global challenge that creates gaps between the main world economies and perpetuates systemic risks that are causing direct effects on world stability. Energy plays a key role in modern society and is a vital component for achieving sustainable economic development. In this context, we are analyzing the interplays among energy security, competitiveness and sustainability. We raise the attention regarding the question of competitive aspects of finite energy resources, in terms of finding alternative sources for funding for investments in environmental technologies, biofuels, wind etc. The generic relationship is further detailed by considering the particular case of Romania.

The last decades fueled the energy challenge by the continuous growth of demand and strengthening of environmental restrains. How these challenges are addressed at global and national level is the main topic approached by the paper using as case study Romania. The availability of resources and how they compare with the current and growing needs of energy is analyzed and discussed. The analysis is taking in account the structure by primary energy sources and the dynamic on the last decades. Applying the same approach for energy imports it is calculated the degree of energy freedom and how this could be improved by considering the potential of renewable energy.

This paper represents an overview of the concept of multi-level governance and the approach delivered on innovation at European level with the purpose of helping and empowering researchers and businesses to thrive in a technologically advanced economy. The concept of multi-level governance derives from the analysis of the institutional framework for the development of Community policies and the Community political process. This stems from the presumption that the Community governance system has a high degree of differentiation and integration both vertically and horizontally. The multi-level governance model illustrates how certain competences of the national state are transferred to the supranational level or to the public or private sub-national authorities. Within this model, we can meet both supranational actors and actors at national, regional or local levels. This type of governance is characterized by the existence of a limited number of authorities, divided so as to be able to perform more functions, excluding their overlapping to exercise exclusively competences on delimited territories. Multi-level governance in innovation is characterized by a national transition as a unique place for the development and implementation of innovation policy, both at supranational and sub-national levels. This research study integrates the results from theoretical and real-world scenarios in the frameworks of corporate governance, state governance, and public administration. Whether it be via the tight examination of the private sector or the public sector, the strategy adopted in this research involved constructing a 360-degree focus on real occurrences that generate the formal and informal processes that keep the globe going. In the first portion of the article, the global mechanism as viewed from the perspective of business and the worldwide mechanism as seen from the standpoint of the economy are both given their own section.

On the labour market, an important aspect is the resizing of jobs due to automation, respectively globalization. Technological changes have led to the need to acquire higher skills. The acquired knowledge and skills can lead to an increase in the ability of graduates to enter the labour market. Thus, for the member countries of the European Union, the article presents an analysis of the share of the population with age between 25 and 64 years, with a tertiary level of education. Likewise, the degree of insertion of graduates of tertiary education programs can be influenced by the economic activities carried out by economic agents. Analysis of employment rates for graduates of tertiary education programs is important. From this point of view, an analysis of the educational fields of the graduates is presented. The used comparative statistical analysis considered the study of the evolution of the number of tertiary level graduates, as well as of the educational fields, for the period 2013-2020, for the member countries of the European Union. Also, the 25-64 age group was selected, and for this the evolution of the share of people with tertiary education was studied. The importance of the degree to which graduates occupy a job after graduation, led to the selection of another indicator – the employment rate (for the period 2012-2021). The rate of participation in continuing professional education and training programs was another indicator for which a comparative statistical analysis was carried out. For all these analyses the existing database on the EUROSTAT website was used. The creation of new jobs involves, and also requires, new skills. For people in the field of work, the updating of skills, respectively their improvement, can be achieved by participating in education and professional training programs. At the same time, this subsequent participation in education and professional training programs is an indicator analysed in the article. The presented data show us that in 2021, approximately half of the population aged between 25 and 64, with tertiary education, was the majority in Ireland, Luxembourg, Cyprus, Sweden, Lithuania. The evolution of the number of graduates, at the level of the European Union, shows us that the number of graduates is increasing, so that in 2020 there were 4.24 million tertiary level graduates. It was found that in 2020 most graduates came from France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Poland. Also, in 2020, the most graduates were for the field of business, administration, and law, followed by: engineering, manufacturing and construction, health and welfare, and education. The lowest share of graduates was for the field of agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and veterinary. It was found that in 2021 the employment rate for people aged between 25 and 64, with a tertiary level of education, was high for: Malta, Poland, Hungary, Romania. The lowest values were registered in: Greece, Spain, Italy, Cyprus. At the same time, in the period 2013-2019, the values of the participation rate in education and professional training programs for people aged between 25 and 64, with a tertiary level of education, remained relatively constant, oscillating between 18.0% and 18.7%.

The economic, social transformations of the last three decades of evolution of rural development both in Romania and in general in rural areas in the context of globalization have radically changed the vision, thinking and attitude of the rural population. As a result, it has led to a massive migration of population to other developed countries. This phenomenon is also characteristic for Romania. At the same time, the technological development has a massive impact on the process of organizing the society and the evolution of the society, both the evolution of biotechnologies, nanotechnologies, branches in the field of chemistry, biochemistry and digitization, which have impact on the development or underdevelopment of the areas in poverty and underdevelopment. economic, but at the same time they will be able to make an essential contribution to the local rural development and to the creation of new job opportunities for both young people and specialists from different branches, as well as for vulnerable groups of population from the rural area. In this article we aim to address these issues and come up with certain solutions and proposals.

Sustainable development was built as a conceptual framework for solutions that harmonize economy-environment relation. Although widely accepted, its practical implications are still subject of debate and controversies. Our paper targets this area and attempts a theoretical explanation and an overview on the progresses toward sustainability made at corporate level. Therefore we explore the theories of corporate environmental behavior and than describe the various approaches used by companies to improve their contribution to the overall goal of sustainability. A special focus is given to management practices implemented in order to improve companies' environmental and social performance and we report on the progresses in standard development by international organizations such as ISO and SAAS.

This study is based on an algorithm created for the American stock market to improve closed investment funds' efficiency, which had as a secondary output a suitable and sustainable model that could be scaled to fit solutions for problems with automated decision making at the government level, similar to a fundamental business intelligence solution (that adheres to similar procedures as the IBM Cognos workflow), which provides a solution in creating the best sustainable model. The model is based on businesses that are listed on the NASDAQ and LSE since these markets offer the finest examples of transparency and accurate audits. It also replicates the economic sectors that make up a fictitious national economy. In order to provide a better perspective and to report the main findings of this study, we also created an overview to analyze the development of B.A.D.E.M., an indicator that simulates a national economy, which in 2023 reached its tenth version, and HSS, a micro-indicator that simulates the healthcare sector.

Defining relations can be built between the state and the corporation on its capitalist structure with observable results in increasing economic performance. The idea of sustainability results from Schumpeter's analysis of "healthy" economic growth of about 2% per year (according to the analysis between 1890 and 1940, including the unsustainable pre-crisis growth of 3.8% / year between 1890 and 1929). Basically, the relationship between government action and corporate governance can be likened to the relationship between urban management and business management (the ultimate goal is to attract investors / stakeholders to the city / corporation by offering advantages over other areas with similar characteristics but keeping the sense of economic logic). to maintain a competitive environment over the local government apparatus and an effective relationship with the inhabitants of that city, respectively, to maintain an organizational culture that resonates with the employees and with the initial purpose of the business), thus this research work having a character of rationalization of the economic environment of an emerging state through an integrated corporate governance approach to the issue.

A solid industrial base positively influences society as a whole. Business development is favored by the degree to which companies are active in the market. The article presents an analysis of employment in companies active in the Member States of the European Union. The evolution of the establishment of active enterprises according to their branches of activity is also addressed. Openness to local markets can lead to successful business activities. Cooperation between different companies can also be facilitated by new technologies. From the point of view of mobility, employment in foreign affiliates of domestic enterprises is another subdomain analyzed in the article. The way in which companies approach the field of expenditure can influence their activity. Thus, by increasing technological capacities and promoting innovation, technological development measures lead to the development of enterprises. The article presents an analysis of the way in which expenditure is shared at the level of enterprises in the Member States of the European Union.

The interest in having a low-carbon economy has led to transformations in the economies of all countries. New economic models are being put into practice. New jobs are being created. Sustainable use of resources is becoming more important. The article presents an analysis of waste generation in the member countries of the European Union. The study of the possibility of reusing certain materials started from the design phase of the finished product. Production processes can also contribute to saving natural resources. This can create new business opportunities and avoid inefficient waste management. The article also analyzes the degree of municipal waste collection, as well as the share of recycled municipal waste. In the production process, the recovery of certain materials and then their use can lead to savings in the use of raw materials. This reduces the pressure exerted by the extraction of raw materials on the environment. Further investments in green technologies will contribute to the efficient use of natural resources, restore biodiversity and reduce pollution.
