Résumé L'étiquette « noise » désigne moins un no man's land dans le paysage des genres musicaux qu'un lieu d'interférences multiples et multidirectionnelles. Quoique souvent menacées de tomber dans la complaisance facile et le stéréotype, les pratiques relevant du noise conduisent, chez leurs meilleurs adeptes, à une pulvérisation systématique, joyeuse et libératrice des clichés ressassés par les encroûtements génériques. Deux exemples paradigmatiques, To Live and Shave in LA et Runzelstirn & Gurgelstock, permettent d'illustrer ces procédures d'évasion, qui prennent à rebours à la fois les routines transgressives de la subculture et les maniérismes guindés de l'académisme conceptuel.
