Mona Bricke is an important climate activist who was socialised politically as part of the 1980s peace movement and the 1990s autonomous/post-autonomous movement. She soon became a bridge-builder between different leftist political groups and NGOs. In the interview with FJSB, she talks about the difficulties of bridge building in concrete situations like the G8 summit in Heiligendamm and about the importance of this function for the emergence of strong movements that can impact on society. In her view, effective movements - including the climate movement - require key figures that can mediate, adapt to the cultural codes of different societal groups and are able to convincingly present and explain the goals of the movement. She also touches on specifics of the climate movement like its professionalisation, different action concepts and the difference between men and women as key figures. Adapted from the source document
