The growing ecological, social and environmental awareness of the society leads to the situation where the necessary determinants of success of a company are no longer good financial results only, but also image-related aspects, which affect the way of corporate reporting. Non-financial reporting is a response to the needs of stakeholders of insurance companies for new information on environmental and social issues which are related to the implementation of the idea of corporate social responsibility (CSR). It is treated as one of the dependent variables that affect financial efficiency measured with the rate of return on equity (ROE). The aim of the study presented in this paper is to assess the impact of non-financial reporting on the financial efficiency of insurance companies on the Polish insurance market. A representative group of 43 insurance companies operating on the Polish market in the years 2004–2019 was examined in the framework of the research. The statistical data came from the database of the Polish Chamber of Insurance (Pol. Polska Izba Ubezpieczeń – PIU). The assumption that non-financial reporting has a statistically significant effect on ROE was adopted as the research hypothesis, and it was verified by a panel model constructed for this purpose. The study confirmed the research hypothesis, which will contribute to the development of a theory which assumes that CSR activity affects financial results of companies.

"This book offers an in-depth analysis of the mechanisms of insurance market integration and measures the degree of this integration. It examines the operation of the EU single financial market and against this backdrop, the regulation relating to the insurance market; the specificity and determinants of international insurance market development and the issues with assimilation, set against other financial market segments, such as the money market, credit-deposit market and bond and equity market. It discusses the advantages and disadvantages of insurance market integration on an international scale. The authors propose a unique approach to the subject, in the context of the EU, and particularly in relation to the Euro area. They also apply the new measures of insurance market integration in the EU in practice, through the use of statistical data and implementation of econometric modeling. Further, they investigate how the financial and fiscal crisis has affected the insurance market in EU countries and the impact of European Central Bank monetary policy on the degree of integration in the euro area, during and after the financial crisis. The book will find an audience among academics and researchers in the fields of international economics and finance, applied, financial and growth economics"--

"Following multiple global crises, there is an urgent need to review our economic and financial paradigms to improve outcomes for the three pillars of sustainable development: economic, social and environmental. In response, various strands of new economic thinking have emerged such as degrowth, the collaborative economy, solidarity economy, sharing economy and social entrepreneurship. This book explores the various economic and financial dimensions of sustainable development drawing on new and existing theories. This comprehensive book is divided into four sections, each presenting the results of a team of international researchers, tackling the issue from a global, macroeconomic and microeconomic approach. The first part examines the determinants of sustainable development in the global economy, while the second looks at enterprise in a sustainable world. The third section analyzes the financial markets and the fourth addresses economic policy and sustainable development. A wide array of sustainability concerns are discussed in-depth, from analyzing changes in Environmental Social and Governance reporting and assessing their impact on the information systems and reporting of economic entities; exploring the transition to "Industry 5.0", and how technological innovation can be deployed to support a better fit and "win-win" interaction between industry and society, shifting focus from economic and technological factors to important environmental and social dimensions. The monograph is an invaluable resource for scholars, researchers and students of applied, development, growth, resource and welfare economics. The policy recommendations will be of benefit to policymakers concerned with issues of sustainable development generally and the Sustainable Development Goals specifically"--
