This article explores how the sending of goods by Filipino migrant women in Hong Kong to their families in the Philippines is a gendered process that "maps" these migrant women back into the emotional economy of the household. I argue that the practice is a performance of intimacy, a way for migrant women to bridge the Hong Kong and Philippine segments of their diasporic and fragmented lives, which enables them to sustain coherent narratives of the self. The kind of intimacy being performed, however, is unconventional and "diasporic" as it is defined by both engagement with and estrangement from the domestic spaces of home.

Maintaining a stable climate for foreign investments and limiting the opening of political space were the 2 objectives which shaped US policy towards the Duvalier regime during the early 1980s and towards the CNG in the late 1980s. Internal responses, shaped in part by economic liberalisation, further complicated matters. The US found itself in a predicament where regulating internal politics in Haiti meant risking the investment climate, but promoting the investment climate was cultivating unrest throughout all levels of Haitian society. The case of Haiti demonstrates that security and economic interests often conflict and can cause deadlock or a revision of how to implement objectives.

ABSTRACT:This study examines whether the effectiveness of online accounting education relative to traditional in-class delivery depends upon the level of the course. Students enrolled in principles and advanced cost/managerial and in advanced financial accounting courses were surveyed regarding their perceptions on several dimensions. The results suggest that the course level is important when assessing whether it is advisable to offer online accounting courses. In advanced courses, the outcomes examined were significantly more favorable for traditional classroom environments than for online, while the delivery mode was not important in principles courses when controlling for other variables. The results also provide further support for the notion that blended learning, i.e., offering a few on-campus class meetings for a predominately online course, may be desirable regardless of course level, but that course level is potentially important when deciding upon the mix of face-to-face versus online instruction.Data Availability: Available upon request.

This paper aims to examine the nature of indigenous African political leadership among the Luba People of Kasai in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The study employed qualitative research that was rooted in phenomenology. The concentration of the study was on the Kasai Central Province. The target population was charm givers, militia, and political leaders were selected as the units of observation by the researcher. The political leaders comprised of local traditional chiefs of villages and modern leaders. A sample size of 40 participants was adequate to enable the researcher to obtain rich information and reach the saturation point. The targeted 40 participants were: 10 charm givers, 8 members of the provincial parliament, 4 provincial ministers, 13 traditional leaders, and 5 militia leaders. The study used In-depth Interviews (IDIs), focus group discussions, and observations to collect data. The findings indicate indigenous traditional leadership among the Luba has various sources of power. These include the use of various symbols of Luba traditional leadership to perform duties on behalf of the community. The use of the manga is also in line with the customs and traditions of the Luba people and guides the leader on the right things to do while on the throne.

<div><p><em>This study tests the random walk theory in the Nigerian stock market by analyzing whether stock returns follow a random walk distribution. </em><em>The study employs the daily returns of the Top 20 most performing stocks on the NSE for the period January 1^st 2010 to December 31^st 2014. Autocorrelation and runs test</em><em> were employed for hypothesis testing. </em><em>Based on our analysis, we found that the daily stock returns of the 20 most active stocks on the Nigerian stock market are randomly distributed indicating that Nigerian Stock market is informational efficient at the weak form level. </em><em>The implication of the finding is that no one can fool the market consistently for a long time by trading on the basis of past information such as historical stock prices. The study recommends that more efforts should be made to reposition the market to attract more investible funds from domestic and foreign investors.</em></p></div>

Diagnosis of parasitic diseases are globally important requisite to realization of wholesome treatment of ailment and reduction in resultant morbidities and mortalities. Parasitic diseases are however hyper- and hypo-prevalent in Nigerian populace often due to socio-economics factors and ranges of little or no sequels. Low mortality from parasitic infection is due to alternative medication other than successful diagnosis as observed. Subsidizing cost of affording diagnosis erection of government owned diagnostic facilities or mobile diagnostic facilities and enlightening the general public on needs of diagnosis are key factors to adequate treatment disease deterrence and control of parasitic diseases. This review presents the qualities and drawbacks in parasitic disease diagnosis in Nigeria pointing out major disease occurrences and diagnosis techniques used in medical facilities as related globally. Thus contemporary diagnostic techniques available for prompt accurate and easy presentation of results on pathobiology of disease patterns including immunoassays conservative and molecular techniques for different biopsy from zoonotic and human parasitic infections. However psychological limitation in Nigeria such as affordability variability in confirming results from other diagnostic areas and adequate staffing can be conquered by training personnel annually on the use of the available tools.
