The case of the Ukrainian community in the Italian town of Cagliari is analysed in order to investigate how the dividing political and geopolitical events which have affected the independent Ukraine since 1991 have produced significant evolution in the sense of identity of this community, particularly through heterolocalism and transnational projections of ongoing conflicts and ethnic redefinition. Diasporas tend to develop their own peculiar relation and sense of belonging to the homeland, either tightening their ties with the place of origin, and closely reproducing the related representations, or producing new interpretations and visions. The aim of the research was to focus on some of the numerous aspects of ethnic identity redefinition in their transnational dimension, adding to these themes the further challenging consequences of geopolitical conflicts.

Purpose: To introduce and define the concept of sieving tourism destinations as an umbrella term representing faster decision-making processes compared to destination choice models, and to demonstrate its usefulness for both sides of consumption and production of tourism attractions.
Methods: Fast decision at the consumers' demand side is demonstrated via an exploratory graphic model. Producers' supply side sieving is measured by observing data elimination on two public serving internet platforms compared to a baseline taken from special interest group tour operators representing Jewish heritage attractions in Sicily and Thessaloniki.
Results: On the demand side, nowadays market conditions enable destination choice decision making in a few simple steps often interpreted as spontaneous, intuitive, or irrational. Quantitative analyses on the supply side provided measurable sieving ratios. They reveal careful partial sieving performed at local level editorship, while much harsher sieving occurs on social media platforms. This is interpreted as a market failure related to niche and special interest groups attractions.
Implications: The demand side findings call for targeted marketing distinguishing customers not only by income but also by temperament, mood, and personality. The supply side findings call for careful examination of the conditions for inclusion and exclusion from the list of attractions as well as the need to remedy the concealment of minor attractions from social media platforms.
During the past few decades, coastal wetlands in the Mediterranean region experienced phases of generalized and intense destruction followed by increasingly effective and widespread conservation policies. The case of Sardinia, analyzed through the complex relations among fishing activities and environmental protection within changing institutional frameworks in Tortolì and Cabras, shows interesting examples of growing awareness of the value of ecosystemic services. The overlapping of projects related to recreation and tourism and the revitalization of fishing traditions and productions, along with widespread critical issues still related to the expansion of human activities in fragile coastal environments and to a persistently marginal socio-economic context, creates crucial challenges for local development. The analysis of these systems shows their changing character, through complex forms of relations among wetland environments and human societies, and highlights the potential and risks of locally managed planning.

Sardinia is the second largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. In recent decades, heated political, scientific and cultural debates have shown growing concern for coastal land consumption and produced increasing awareness and sensibility on effects due to vulnerability, risks and natural hazards. Approximately half of the Sardinian surface is considered vulnerable to current or future desertification processes. Wildfires, water consumption, urbanisation and land abandonment in declining rural districts, as well as overgrazing and farming intensification in other areas, are some of the major climate-related issues. Tourism activities, which are concentrated in time (summer) and space (coastline), strongly contribute to the regional system's vulnerability. In recent decades, inadequate policies and weak territorial planning have been observed even though climate and environmental issues are increasingly recognised as crucial elements for the future of the island. This article focuses on the local level by considering the formation and consolidation of the discursive practices of the protagonists in the regional debate. Government rationalities as well as rules and policies on prevention, mitigation and adaptation practices are relevant elements for the analysis.Development and planning strategies and practices, as well as relevant official documents, are also analysed and discussed.
