Internet and screen synthesize "the age of the global screen" (Lipovetsky & Serroy, 2010). This dynamic is not unrelated to the Lusophone contingency. And with YouTube, new forms of "association" were born (Latour, 2012). Since this is a network that also constitutes a "culture space" of Lusophone (Martins, 2015), we investigated the relationship between "Lusophone communities" and this "global screen". This study had two missions: a) to map the top5 of viewing preferences on YouTube Lusophone countries; b) and to understand which archetypal forces are most present in each country analyzed. This mapping and the consequent description of archetypal forces can describe parts of the "skin of culture" (Kerkhove, 1997) in Lusophony, providing the basis for deeper analysis.
In government secondary schools in Timor-Leste, English as a subject receives less representation in the curriculum compared with neighboring countries and reflects the complex language policy of the country's constitution, which recognizes four languages. This paper reports the results of a study of the difficulties encountered by secondary school students when they read English texts. The research sought to identify the main obstacles to students' reading fluency as well as their causes. 200 students completed a questionnaire about their English reading experience and habits. Based on the questionnaire results, ten students were selected to participate in focus group discussions about their reading difficulties. Five students were assigned to a 'challenged' reader group, while five were assigned to a 'coping' reader group. The results indicate that many of the students have difficulty in reading English texts. Inadequate vocabulary knowledge and a lack of reading strategies were identified as the main contributors. Interestingly, the most serious difficulty reported was the pronunciation of the words of reading texts. This finding suggests that the many students are accustomed to reading texts aloud rather than silently and may not have progressed beyond a sub-vocalizing phase. The majority of the subjects appear to adopt a 'bottom up' approach to reading. Two factors appear to impact upon this unsatisfactory situation: (a) the absence of strategies-based reading instruction within the curriculum, and (b) lack of exposure to a variety of English texts.

In recent decades, "LGBT neighbourhoods" or "gay Villages" have been gaining some prominence and particular characteristics within cities, representing safe spaces for the expression and negotiation of individual and collective identities as well as for the political affirmation of LGBT communities and queer identities. As other areas that have been the main drivers of urban revitalization of inner-cities, such as cultural and creative quarters or multicultural spaces, these territories distinguish for the social practices of their users and inhabitants, the specificities of their economic activity, or their contribute to creativity or social integration. More than community ghettos, these areas have been characterized by their openness and vibrancy, enhancing the coexistence of diverse lifestyles, trajectories and identities, but also by the contribution of LGBT people to the gentrification of these districts through their strong commercial, residential and symbolic presence. Drawing upon an empirical work developed in Lisbon (Príncipe Real district) and Madrid (Chueca district), based on in-depth interviews to LGBT residents and participant observation in the two neighbourhoods, this paper characterizes the main evolutionary trajectories and specificities of these two districts. An analysis is made confronting the characteristics and contingencies of these areas with other cases previously studied in literature, identifying the existence of notable differences and suggesting evidence of significant specificities, which can represent a "South European" approach to the reality of "Gay Villages". Some generic principles for urban planning are drawn out from the analysis.

Abstract
Artistic intervention in cultural districts can be an outstanding viewpoint to understand the multiple layers of uses and segregations that bring everyday life vitality to the complex organisms that cities are. Urban informality contexts can be fundamental for the expression of this diversity and to liminality strategies, particularly interesting in the case of artistic intervention, as artistic creativity is often about transgression, differentiation and, therefore, conflict. Small initiatives that develop in an informal and ephemeral way by artists who choose the city as stage for their work, exploring the ambiguous and flexible boundaries between public and private spaces, are particularly interesting, evidencing the conflicts usually verified on creative milieus but being also important to keep these places as vernacular as possible and to avoid gentrification processes. In this perspective, this article aims to discuss this relation between urban interventions, informality and public sphere appropriation, analysing the way informal artistic dynamics can contribute to urban revitalization, territorial resilience and to the enhancement of 'real' creative milieus. Drawing on a research-action-based methodology the authors explore the results and impacts of three experiences of urban intervention that they developed in three consecutive years in informal urban contexts in Bairro Alto, Lisbon, Portugal. These ephemeral artistic interventions introduced new spaces of public use in the city, performing different public and private spaces, and bringing them to the public sphere. They created 'new' zones that re-gain a use in the city, contributing to the vitality and symbolic centrality of this area.

This text resulted from a research project that seeks to observe and interpret forms and flows of governance (sociopolitical and cultural) associated with creative (and cumulative) dynamics in cities and in pro-urban territories. It results from a work of theoretical and critical reflection on basic concepts (creativity, vitality and governance in the city) and the empirical projection of such perspectives in a set of interviews carried out with key actors in the thinking and action around the contemporary city , in 3 metropolitan territories: Lisbon, São Paulo and Barcelona. It was tried not only to identify the different perspectives around the concepts and respective dynamics of complementarity and connectivity between them; but also the structuring and metabolic conditions for the sustained development of creativity in today's city, both in terms of its spatial / geographical configurations, but also in the associated socio-cultural and economic environments. There are also forms of promotion and public and private support of urban creativity, discussing political strategies and governance processes for their empowerment. Different perspectives (in relation to the city itself and its emancipation) lead to different rationales of sociopolitical action, particularly in the face of dynamics and governance structures. This text mirrors such perspectives of political rationality, in the scope of the promotion of urban creativity. Notwithstanding an inherent (and salutary) diversity of perspectives, the importance of urban-spatial elements such as the diversity and proximity of different types of actors, their transactional practices, mobility and daily dynamics; along with key elements in the local / metropolitan governance sphere, such as openness and proactivity (and corresponding capacity for organizational change), as well as the dissemination of information and vehicles for debate and co-responsibility, are vital elements for strengthening the governance of creativity in the contemporary city. Governance ...
