Positive education, as a method for the positive development of students' personality, embodies the 24 character strengths that Peterson and Seligman developed in their studies and that are necessary for new professional profiles. This new social and work landscape inspired supranational institutions, such as the European Union, to develop theories for new educational systems. These Key Competencies seek the comprehensive training of students, on not only the cognitive but the socioemotional plane, as occurs with arts education. With this literature review, we intend to demonstrate the relationship between the Key Competencies as catalysts for the development of character strengths in students through art education programmes. The results conclude that it is possible to define a relationship between the Key Competencies and character strengths and to outline the nature of these relationships, noting that certain patterns of combinations of strengths are repeated in the Key Competencies. Additionally, our work leads us to propose the need to increase the volume of research in this field and to design future studies that allow an empirical evaluation of the nature of these connections and whether they are efficient and enduring.

AbstractAcross two experimental studies, this research examined the effects of positive and negative imagined intergroup contact on adolescents' (Study 1, N = 124) and early adults' (Study 2, N = 169) stereotype content, emotions, and behavioral intentions toward two immigrant groups in Spain: Ecuadorians, a valued group, and Moroccans, a devalued group. The results showed that the imagined contact valence influenced only adolescents' outgroup evaluations and only toward Moroccans, the devalued targeted group. Specifically, negative contact indirectly triggered passive harm tendencies through increased negative emotions toward Moroccans. Our findings support previous studies regarding the stronger effect of negative contact on attitudes toward devalued outgroups.

Este estudio analiza el contacto, las actitudes intergrupales y otras variables psicosociales relacionadas en usuarios de bibliotecas públicas españolas, con objeto de conocer si el cumplimiento por las bibliotecas de las Directrices IFLA (International Federation of Library Associations) para Comunidades Multiculturales favorece el contacto y mejora las actitudes intergrupales. Se seleccionaron usuarios españoles y marroquíes de bibliotecas de Barcelona (que cumplían las Directrices IFLA) y de Almería (que no las cumplían). Los españoles (NBarcelona = 138 y NAlmería = 116) respondieron a un cuestionario sobre marroquíes y éstos (NBarcelona = 89 y NAlmería = 100) sobre españoles. Las actitudes intergrupales y otras variables fueron más positivas en usuarios de Barcelona, pero el contacto intergrupal sólo difería entre españoles y marroquíes.

El presente trabajo persigue dos objetivos principales: (a) comparar las relaciones del liderazgo transformacional con otros estilos de liderazgo clásicos en la literatura organizacional, tales como el liderazgo democrático versus autocrático o el orientado a la tarea-orientado a las relaciones y (b) comparar los efectos del liderazgo transformacional y los estilos de liderazgo mencionados sobre la satisfacción y la eficacia de los empleados. Para cumplir dichos objetivos se seleccionó una muestra de 147 participantes que trabajaban en 35 equipos de trabajo diferentes. Los resultados demuestran la existencia de correlaciones muy elevadas entre el liderazgo transformacional, el liderazgo orientado a las relaciones, el liderazgo democrático y el liderazgo orientado a la tarea. También se encuentra que, tal como predice la literatura, el liderazgo transformacional, sobre todo en niveles altos, aumenta significativamente el porcentaje de varianza explicado por los otros estilos en algunas variables de resultado organizacional importantes (la ejecución de subordinados, satisfacción y esfuerzo extra). ; This study has two main goals: (a) to compare the relationship between transformational leadership and other important leadership styles (i.e., democratic versus autocratic or relations- and task-oriented leadership) and (b) to compare the effects of transformational leadership and the other styles on some important organizational outcomes such as employees' satisfaction and performance. For this purpose, a sample of 147 participants, working in 35 various work-teams, was used. Results show high correlations between transformational leadership, relations-oriented, democratic, and task-oriented leadership. On the other hand, according to the literature, transformational leadership, especially high levels, significantly increases the percentage of variance accounted for by other leadership styles in relevant organizational outcome variables (subordinates' performance, satisfaction and extra effort).

Several attachment‐related phenomena in Spanish couples using dyadic‐level analyses were examined. A sample of 295 heterosexual couples completed measures of attachment‐related anxiety and avoidance, self‐esteem, social self‐efficacy, and relationship satisfaction. Results, analyzed from a dyadic perspective using the actor–partner interdependence model (APIM), indicate that (a) there are actor but no partner effects of attachment insecurities on intrapersonal variables such as self‐esteem and social self‐efficacy, (b) there are actor and partner effects of avoidant attachment on relationship satisfaction, and (c) actor anxiety is associated with partner avoidance, and actor avoidance is associated with partner anxiety. Overall, the results reveal the importance of a dyadic perspective on couple members' attachment insecurities and their associations with intrapersonal and interpersonal processes and relationship adjustment. They also show that attachment variables and correlates studied mainly in English‐speaking countries are useful in understanding Spanish couple dynamics.

The worldwide spread of a new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) since December 2019 has posed a severe threat to individuals' well-being. While the world at large is waiting that the released vaccines immunize most citizens, public health experts suggest that, in the meantime, it is only through behavior change that the spread of COVID-19 can be controlled. Importantly, the required behaviors are aimed not only at safeguarding one's own health. Instead, individuals are asked to adapt their behaviors to protect the community at large. This raises the question of which social concerns and moral principles make people willing to do so. We considered in 23 countries (N = 6948) individuals' willingness to engage in prescribed and discretionary behaviors, as well as country-level and individual-level factors that might drive such behavioral intentions. Results from multilevel multiple regressions, with country as the nesting variable, showed that publicized number of infections were not significantly related to individual intentions to comply with the prescribed measures and intentions to engage in discretionary prosocial behaviors. Instead, psychological differences in terms of trust in government, citizens, and in particular toward science predicted individuals' behavioral intentions across countries. The more people endorsed moral principles of fairness and care (vs. loyalty and authority), the more they were inclined to report trust in science, which, in turn, statistically predicted prescribed and discretionary behavioral intentions. Results have implications for the type of intervention and public communication strategies that should be most effective to induce the behavioral changes that are needed to control the COVID-19 outbreak.
