This paper points out the main e1ements under analysis in a study aimed at bringing out the relevant causes of inflation in each kind of economic structure. Thus, it stresses the necessity of a direct answer to questions like when, where, why and how an inflationary process is generated as well as its economic, political and social consequences. Further, it points out the necessity of analyzing the nature of inflation and its circumstances rather than contrasting structuralism vs. monetarism. Thus it seeks to specify the causes of inflation, their direction, intensity and interaction in a given type of economic and social structure. With that aim the ideas of economic efficiency and social welfare are introduced and applied to an interpretation of the Argentine case during the last hundred years. ; El artículo destaca los principales elementos a tener en cuenta cuando se desea localizar las causas relevantes de la inflación según cuál sea la estructura económica subyacente. De esta manera, hace hincapié en la necesidad de una respuesta precisa a preguntas como cuándo, dónde y por qué y cómo se genera un proceso inflacionario, así como en sus consecuencias económicas, políticas y sociales. Además, el trabajo destaca la necesidad de analizar la naturaleza de la inflación y sus circunstancias, más que de contrastar estructuralismo frente a monetarismo. En definitiva, pretende especificar las causas de la inflación, su dirección, intensidad, interacción para una estructura económica y social concreta.

L'objectif principal de cette étude est de concevoir une approche intégrée de la répartition personnelle et fonctionnelle du revenu. Les hypothèses de base sur lesquelles reposent les théories et modèles de répartition personnelle et fonctionnelle du revenu sont discutées. Une liaison entre la répartition personnelle et fonctionnelle du revenu est réalisée grâce à l'introduction d'une fonction non linéaire micro-économique génératrice du revenu (FGR) en termes de capital humain et de richesse. La fonction FGR en question est caractérisée par un taux marginal de substitution technique positif, décroissant et convexe et par une élasticité de substitution variable. La FGR permet l'estimation des taux de rendement du capital humain et de la richesse et la répartition personnelle et fonctionnelle du revenu. Par agrégation, ces résultats sont obtenus pour l'ensemble de l'économie nationale.

Since Pareto specified in 1895 his Type I model, scores of income distribution models have been proposed. In this study, almost all of these models are organized in three generating systems. The foundations of these system specifications and the basic properties that probability distribution functions should fulfill to be entertained as income distribution models are presented and analyzed. Their main scope is to guide the researchers to the choice of an appropriate and robust model to describe observed income distributions in different epochs and countries with different state of socioeconomic development, and according to several socioeconomic attributes of the observed populations.
