Objective: To describe the socioeconomic and demographic profile of family caregivers of users of Psychosocial Care Centers type I, II and III. Methods: It is a quantitative, descriptive study, part of the evaluation research of Psychosocial Care Centers in Southern Brazil II in 2011. The participants of this study were 1242 family of users of CAPS. Results: The majority of family are women, whites, aged between 40 to 60 years, with low education and income, married, parents or mothers of users. One can see that socioeconomic and demographic characteristics of family caregivers are distributed similarly between the three modality of rated service (CAPS I, CAPS II and CAPS III). Conclusion: From the family caregivers profile knowledge, it is allowed to propose assistance and more focused support on the characteristics of each group.

Objective: to describe the health care given to people with mental disorders in the Network for Psychosocial Care. Methods: quantitative, cross-sectional and descriptive study with 1595 users of Centers for Psychosocial Care in the three states of southern Brazil in 2011. Data were entered in the statistical program Epi Info 6.04 and the analysis was performed in STATA 9.0. Results: the percentage of users who have non-psychiatric disorders is 45,3%. Among the non-psychiatric morbidities, hypertension and diabetes are among the most frequent. With respect to the place where service to treat the non-psychiatric disorders is offered, most participants mentioned Basic Health Units. Conclusion: the mental disorder is just one among many care needs. Thus, it is important to think on this care beyond the disorder, focusing mainly on people and their complexities.

Objective: To identify and analyze studies in the literature that evaluated the burden of psychiatric patients relatives through Family Burden Evaluation Scale. Method: The articles search was performed in the LILACS and PubMed databases, following inclusion criteria: studies published in the period from 2002 to 2012, with full text and studies with adult humans, in Portuguese, English, and Spanish languages. Results: Ten articles indicated that family members with higher levels of overolad are those closest to the patient and living in conditions of social vulnerability. Conclusion: It is hoped that this study contributes to rethink the public politics on mental health, assist managers and employees of substitute services to cope with the theme of family burden, reflecting quality of life for patients and families.

Objective: To evaluate the challenges and the potentialities of the network of mental health from the Family Health Strategy. Methods: It is a descriptive and exploratory study, with qualitative methodological approach. The data collection occurred in the period of April to May 2012 in Family Health Units in the city of Pelotas/ RS. There were performed semi-structured interviews with six managers, which were recorded and transcribed verbatim. Results: The challenges are highlighted by: lack of support from management, excessive use of psychotropic drugs, some professionals do not know their users and lack of communication on the network. The potentialities are: the recognition of the involvement of professionals with the actions of mental health and the concern of managers with the practices of mental health within their services. Conclusion: The care involves many social actors that need to work in network to mitigate the challenges and strengthen the potential to affect the care.
