This article questions some existing ideas about the legend of the blasphemy of Alfonso X, especially concerning this narrative's presence in the Portuguese chronicle of 1344, written by Pedro Afonso de Barcelos, great-grandson of the Learned King. The consideration of a often overlooked fact, the absence of this story in the truncated manuscript that conveys the first version of the Portuguese count's work, stimulates a new hypothesis, based on reflexions on not only on textual, but also on contextual issues (of both personal and political kind). ; Este artículo cuestiona algunas ideas existentes sobre la leyenda de la blasfemia de Alfonso X, en particular lo relativo a su presencia en la crónica portuguesa de 1344, redactada por Pedro Afonso de Barcelos, biznieto del rey Sabio. La puesta en valor de un dato menos considerado, la ausencia de este relato en el manuscrito truncado que transmite la primera redacción de la obra del conde portugués, estimula el planteamiento de una nueva hipótesis, basada en reflexiones no solo textuales, sino también contextuales (tanto de índole personal como política).

A pandemia trouxe ruturas significativas em várias dimensões da vida, implicando adaptações intensas e visibilizando velhas e novas desigualdades e exclusões, como as associadas ao idadismo. Através de uma etnografia online analisamos as estratégias desenvolvidas por uma associação portuguesa constituída por pessoas reformadas em resposta às limitações à sua ação trazidas pela COVID-19. A maioria da comunicação organizacional passou a ser online e a associação desenvolveu novas iniciativas para a prossecução da sua missão. As publicações na página pública de Facebook refletiram tensões com as quais as pessoas mais velhas foram confrontadas, recorrentemente associadas a fenómenos de idadismo, denunciados e problematizados pela associação. Neste estudo constatamos que também em organizações de pessoas adultas mais velhas houve transição para ferramentas online durante a pandemia, com a utilização do Facebook como plataforma de comunicação e como recurso para a ação política.

#Uptake_ICT2life-cycle: digital literacy and inclusion to learners with disadvantaged background# is an Erasmus + project that aims at enhancing digital literacy among adults with disadvantaged backgrounds. The partners have produced didactic materials and pedagogical guidelines to meet this aim. Based on these materials, and their didactical exploitation, a network of stakeholders was formed and trained in order to subsequently be able to teach citizens that both have disadvantaged backgrounds and are digitally illiterate or quasi-illiterate. This paper relates how this experience was undertaken in Portugal in what concerns the creation of the Stakeholders' network and presents its results. The reality that has boosted the creation of this project was the shocking situation portrayed in 2013 Eurostat statistics, according to which one in every three Portuguese had never used the Internet. Uptake ICT was then conceived and designed in order to engage synergies to counter this problem, aiming at a variety of focus groups (but paying special attention to learners of various ages that have never used Internet, like adults with disadvantaged backgrounds), in line with the transversal priorities for education, training and youth of the European Commission and seeking to assist in the meeting of the aims of Europe 2020. To add up, it also intended to enhance and to develop ideas that answer to the Societal Challenges' needs, by sharing and creating scientific, social, technological and policies impact. The main aspects that the project focused on were digital literacy inclusion, re-qualification and employability of disadvantaged citizens, in order to help them to face the present process of civilizational change (social, political, economic, and cultural). The addressed priorities were to contribute towards a reduction of the number of low-skilled adults (re-skilling and up-skilling of adults thanks to lifelong-learning and training), and to strengthen the links between education and employment in the area of ICT | New technologies | digital literacy and digital competences | basic skills. After having identified both the most preeminent needs and ways of integrating ICT in daily life, and a set of good practices already tested in the areas of digital literacy, inclusion and employability, the project team has built a number of educational contents addressing the issues that were considered most relevant in three main levels of knowledge (Basic, Intermediate, and advanced) , and in the four languages of the project (Portuguese, Italian, English and German). The decision to work on the three levels was due to the fact that in the various partner countries there were groups of target audiences that were positioned differently with respect to their level of digital expertise. The teachinglearning materials that were conceived were afterwards reworked in order to fit in a variety of contexts and formats (e-modules, ebook, MOOC). This option for multi-format was taken having in mind different learning profiles, and the need to provide flexible and attractive materials in order to avoid any kind of rejection. According to Eurostat, in 2013 Portugal was the fifth country with the highest percentage of people that never used the Internet (33% of the population), preceded by Romania (42%), Bulgaria (41%), Greece (36%) and Italy (35%). On the other hand Denmark and Sweden have the lowest, both with 4%. Germany and United Kingdom have also low percentage 13% and 8% respectively. The average in the 28 EU member countries is 21%. Information and communications technology (ICT) are becoming more prevalent in all areas and fields of society. The digital inclusion has been seen as very beneficial to the individual, economy and society. So for the digital excluded, namely with disadvantaged background, like social exclusion, geographical exclusion or age exclusion (elderly), the ICT can take an even more important role to help them integrate in society. Despite a growth in the number of Internet users in the last decades, there are still a lot of people that don't use, or even never used this tool. This project aims to address this problem by engaging synergies of nine partners in four countries (Portugal, Italy, United Kingdom and Germany) whose good practices will be shared and validated by the Science and Technology Foundation in Portugal. This network will work both at local, regional, national and international levels in transversal and trans-sectorial areas, both in terms of the partners involved (academic and enterprise), and in terms of the focus group (VET; adult education with disadvantaged background; HEI with special focus on this group) literacy inclusion, re-qualification and employability. Las sociedades hispánicas medievales compartieron un amplio y variado caudal de principios y valores comunes en el terreno político, social, cultural y espiritual. Aunque existían elementos propios y exclusivos de cada reino, hubo una sólida base común que permitía una rápida adaptación de los personajes que emigraban a otros territorios vecinos. Las respectivas sociedades cortesanas fueron capaces de entenderse a partir de los rasgos culturales, artísticos, literarios y espirituales que todas tenían en común, y aprovecharon los contactos políticos, familiares e institucionales para enriquecerlos. Un estudio comparado de algunos de estos intercambios permite entender la fisonomía de lo hispánico durante la Baja Edad Media, una época caracterizada por la definición progresiva de los poderes del Estado. Los ejemplos que ofrecen los especialistas que escriben en este volumen nos ofrecen un variado panorama cultural que combina la especialidad temática con el contexto general de la época. ; Medieval Hispanic societies shared a wide and varied body of common principles and values in the political, social, cultural and spiritual fields. Although each kingdom had specific or exclusive characteristics, there was a solid common base that allowed a rapid adaptation of the people who emigrated to other neighboring territories. The respective court societies were able to understand each other thanks to the cultural, artistic, literary and spiritual traits that they all had in common, and they took advantage of political, family and institutional contacts to enrich them. A comparative study of some of these exchanges allows us to understand the physiognomy of the Hispanic during the late Middle Ages, a period characterized by the progressive definition of the powers of the State. First published online: 2012 ; Gellan gum (GG)-based hydrogels are advantageous in tissue engineering not only due to their ability to retain large quantities of water and provide a similar environment to that of natural extracellular matrix (ECM), but also because they can gelify in situ in seconds. Their mechanical properties can be fine-tuned to mimic natural tissues such as the nucleus pulposus (NP). This study produced different formulations of GG hydrogels by mixing varying amounts of methacrylated (GG-MA) and high-acyl gellan gums (HA-GG) for applications as acellular and cellular NP substitutes. The hydrogels were physicochemically characterized by dynamic mechanical analysis. Degradation and swelling abilities were assessed by soaking in a phosphate buffered saline solution for up to 170 h. Results showed that as HA-GG content increased, the modulus of the hydrogels decreased. Moreover, increases in HA-GG content induced greater weight loss in the GG-MA/HA-GG formulation compared to GG-MA hydrogel. Potential cytotoxicity of the hydrogel was assessed by culturing rabbit NP cells up to 7 days. An MTS assay was performed by seeding rabbit NP cells onto the surface of 3D hydrogel disc formulations. Viability of rabbit NP cells encapsulated within the different hydrogel formulations was also evaluated by Calcein-AM and ATP assays.
